Never really thought about it, but I suppose the real deal empty boxes are still valuable, if you were doing illegal copies and flogging them on??0

I innocently bought a CD and when I got it home I realised it was the wrong one. The CS staff flatly refuse to refund me, what can I do I'm not a illeagal copier and now have a CD worth £12.97 which I don't want.
Anyone had similar experiences? How can I get this refunded?
Luckily for me I noticed the cd I had bought was 'unsealed', once they had opened the security box, BEFORE I left the store. I went straight to cs and got a refund.
I have now had the chance to have a good look at cd/dvd/games etc whilst inside security boxes. All games seem to be sealed, All DVDs seem to be sealed, some cd's are sealed, but most are not.
If Tesco claim that is the state they receive them in from supplier, well surely Mr T has got enough buying power to force them to send the cds sealed. All the ones I receive from cdwow, Amazon etc are always sealed.
Re arguement about piracy - I agree, but dvds can also be copied.
Also I have noticed that when the security boxes are opened at the till, the contents on the cd are not checked. So what happens if you return later claiming the cd case was empty, or have a damaged disc. How can Tescos prove that there was a cd in the case when bought etc? - This did genuinely happen to me a few years ago in Asda.
As for the suggestion of putting unwanted new cds on e-bay, I am always dubious when sellers advertise products like cd/dvd's as NEW, but for some reason are not sealed. I am obviously not alone as the prices these items achieve are never as high as those which are sealed.
Surely the onus should be on Tescos to sell their product in a way where genuine mistakes by honest buyers can be rectified.
Maybe you should simply stop buying from Tescos, and let them know exactly why. If Tesco loses sales to competitors because of their own failings, maybe they will get their act together0 -
fizzypop wrote:I have been monitoring the timing of misprice posts and how quickly T do an update. A good example is the prepack baby corn and peas labelled £1.22 with a sel of £1.21. The post was timed at 11.33am (post 128) when the scan price was £1.22 but by 8pm that same evening the scanned price had been corrected to £1.21 as per the sel.
May I suggest posting later in the day to give T less of a window to do a national update. I suspect T do a batch update as opposed to a online update of prices. What do people think? Any ideas on setting a cutoff time such as 5pm?
We cant expect everyone to rush back from their shop to report back on this site immediately they find a price mistake. Some glitches could be days old before anyone spots them and in the meantime things get rectified by the powers that be.
As we all know things vary in each store due to human error etc. Pot luck really.0 -

That has got to be the first time someone has posted on mse that they WANT Tesco to abuse their buying power :rotfl:
The same policy applies to DVD's and games, its just the op had an issue with a CD.
Also worth pointing out that Tesco's policy is the same as pretty much every other high street retailer.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Just returned from a minor ATS Trip *as I've been told I do by OH.
Mostly this is time to browse and maximise returns on various coupons by combining their values just before the various expiry dates. Todays overall return on some tea, cheese and pork is a 45% reduction in price, combined money off and CC points.
I noticed a SEL on the larger packs of Spare Rib Pork Chops is £3.99/Kg but the packs are carrying a £3.85/Kg label, maybe an opportunity as impending change can give rise to mistakes. Also keep an eye on the smaller packs of SRPC - they are currently carrying the same price /Kg.

It has been running for years...I seem to recall a TV add from a long time ago about it.
Could it have started when Tesco started using barcode scanners rather than everything individually priced?Who or what was I before you came in to my life
