If you took a hit from the Ever Brite scam look out for a further charge of $40 to your card by 'Ibuildwealth'. From searching the US web forums I found that this is another connected scam. The tel no to call and cancel is 00 1 866 822 9626.0

My bank has advised a quick block of charges from any company,
you very simply state to your bank / building society that you'r card has been lost or stolen. they then stop any debits being taken from your card "immediately".
As the company everbright smile etc "only have your card details for that card," they can no longer take money from that account as it is now frozen.
The bank will then send you a new card.
This is by far the simplest and the best way of stopping any further charges from these companys.or any other companys given your banking information by everbright.
you will receive a new card the next day
no more money can be taken from your account as the companys no longer have your current banking details.
Hope this helps :T0 -

I double checked and as the company has the old card number etc this is the only number they can use,as they will not be given the new one,
My bank reiterated this fact.
They said it is a much simpler way than changing accounts, I'm with Barclays they had no problem with this, They in fact said they wouldn't even get any requests from the companys as the banking details had changed.so they wouldn't get through.
It s apparently because the card was reported lost or stolen this blocks its use from any one, this is apparently different than just canceling a card.
I did have a similar issue when|I lost my card before, becouse i didn't inform a company my new card number and csv and it was not a direct debit payment, the bank would not pay them "payment was blocked" they had to contact me to reinstate the payment.0 -
What was I thinking? On Saturday 9th I entered debit card info for two deals in combination like the guy below, first £0.95 to "Clean Whites" and then £3.95 to "everbright smiles". As soon as I had done this I had that instant nausea-moment as I Googled the companies and read the many articles alledging scams. The fact that neither company emailed me details of the transaction afterwards was highly suspicious and about an hour after my order I was on the phone cancelling my my order.
I spoke to the first company 0808 2389891 who seemingly were able to cancel the transaction. They told me that they would not refund shipping costs. I poinited out to them that it was only an hour since I had ordered and that they had not shipped the item yet. Additionally, I quoted their own terms and conditions at them which actually read: " shipping and handling charges become non-refundable once the product has left the warehouse."
I could not get hold of the second company in this country or in America. I emailed them even though I had read that the email link went nowhere. Never-the-less, I sent them an email cancelling my order anyway.
Monday morning came and still no email from either company acknowledging that I had even purchased the trials in question, let alone cancelling them. However, about 12pm I did receive an email from support2@globalcustomersupport.net apparently cancelling an order but I had no idea which company this was from as the ref numbers they quoted did not tie up with any information I had. They just signed themselves off with "customer support." Highly suspect!
In the end I rang Lloyds TSB who cancelled my card. If either company have the front to make a fuss about this I'll see them in court.
Did the bank stop payments as I have been told they cant byPaul Raljek my Bank said they can and will,0 -
@andywinchester
Your original post never said anything about reporting a card lost/stolen! You amended your post this morning to say that!0 -

Hi it said lost, I amended it to lost or stolen, it's the same thing!
you report a card to the bank if you have lost it or it has been stolen.
What this does is the card number is automatically blocked from use everywhere in the world,so no company or individual can use the card details.
If everbright attempt to gain money from my account it will be refused as the card has been reported lost or stolen.
If they wish to challenge this, "they must contact me personally", and I know exactly what I will say !!!!!!
If you want some money IL See you in court. I don't think their bother "DO YOU"0 -

My bank has stated DON'T try different numbers to cancel your order the only number you should call to cancel payments is the number you have on your ORDER COMPLETED, emailed to you, the one with your reference order number on it.
It states if you have any questions regarding your order call us at:
The current number is 001 888 694 9257
By law this is the number the company has given you to contact them!
If this number is unavailable "which it is so you cant cancel" this is classed as "OBSTRUCTION" by a court or a bank.
If possible have some one with you when you call to verify you have called to cancel, keep a record of the number, and the time and date you called.
1: Write a letter confirming you wish to cancel your subscription, Also include a copy of your order details sent to you by Everbright, send it to the current address given on the terms and conditions for Everbright. SEND THIS BY REGISTERED POST
this is proof for the bank that you have attempted to cancel.
2: Also email this letter confirming your cancellation to care@everbrightsmiles.com This email is correct on 1/4/2010
*Then call your bank and report your card lost or stolen, this immediately blocks the card from use by any company or individual around the world.it also stops the inconvenience of having to start a new account if you close your account. N.B you should get a new card within two days so it's not to inconvenient."I got mine the next day"
All this should be done immediately after you have ordered if you suspect something is not right.
or as soon as possible after money has been taken from your account.
This is to stop any company be it Ever Bright or any company associated with them, from taking further payments from you're account and for the bank to have confirmation that you have attempted to cancel but have been obstructed from doing so!
the bank will then send you some forms to fill in, they will then wait 30 days to see if the product arrives, if it does at least you've got something for your money !!!!
They will then contact the company to inform them that you as a customer have been obstructed from canceling any further payments to their company, And that this is contrary to their terms and conditions of sale.
They will then also attempt to get any monies taken, reimbursed."though I must say this is probably unlikely to happen"
Apart from this you probably haven't received any product anyway so this will be used by the bank also.
The important thing is DON'T PANIC These companies want you to do that!, They can get more money out of you by sending you on wild goose chases by phoning different numbers etc
Once you know no more money can be taken from your account, believe me you feel a lot better.
Hope this helps.0
