i did a shoulder of lamb tonight with vegetables and LO ate quite a bit. so shocked as she's not usually a fan, but she seems to be if it's cooked in the slow cooker.

MFD - LO likes sausage too. she's had them a few times now.

Glam is the slow cooker queen!! Have you seen the thread on OS?

LOL - can I say I told you so!! I couldn't believe it when Benjamin wolfed down the pork done in the S/C!!

Today he had Nanny Ann's Salmon Sandwiches!!

How is the sleeping going? xxx

I did have neutrogena ladies but I found it really greasy! Will try the blue one next time

I keep forgetting to ask this! Why would you cook bolognese in the slow cooker when it only takes 20 mins on the hob? :o

because when I cook bolognese (so thats how u spell it :o) or chilli I cook it on a very low heat for about an hour to 90 minutes. the way me dad taught me to. I personally hate bolognese from a jar and much prefer my own sauce whic requires a longer cooking time. I also prefer my mince in small bits - I would spew if I found any chunks of mince!

never got round to putting it in SC anyway so will do 3 loads on the hob tomorrow  only really used SC when J was newborn, only used it for stews since!
J just woke up for a feed  very strange, was about to go to bed all determined to see how long he would go!

  • OK, so now I'm thinking of my friend who always had to eat sandwiches smelling of Oil of Ulay at her Granny's house! _pale_ :rotfl:

    xx
  • MFD - I know it's probably not really necessary, but I don't want to take that risk tbh, I don't want to wrap her up in real life but medically I'm going to do just that IYKWIM, I just went through too much to have her.

Hand Cream - I got DH L'Occitane hand cream for Christmas, it's made a huge improvement on what they used to be like, he just has a few stubborn cracks now but it's where the fingers bend so he keeps reopening them at work.

Mince - brown mince is fine to use. Beef cells react with oxygen in the air and it goes brown quite quickly. However people prefer to buy blood red meat, so it's packaged in containers filled with nitrogen to keep it blood red for longer. Eventually it does start to go brown though, but it's perfectly safe to use. When beef goes off it has green sheen to it, goes slimey and it smells.

I buy a carrier bag of mince straight from the mincer in the butchers and it's usually brown. Ditto steaks, joints etc.

Chocolate fountains - I tried one once but I didn't like it. They were setting it up when we were setting up to do a disco at a wedding, and I saw them adding oil to the chocolate and was curious. They need to add the oil to keep the chocolate flowing. They did let me have a go before the guests arrived, but I'm a chocolate snob and I didn't really like the chocolate. I'm also put off by the germs that could be added to it, plus other stuff floating round in the air like hair and fluff.

The school do cake afternoons and you send in a plate of fairy cakes or something in, and a class serves the cakes and drinks to the other classes and parents. Children are handling cakes with no gloves on and we once got a nasty case of worms after attending a cake afternoon. No evidence it came from the cakes, but we've always bought wrapped cakes like mini rolls since just in case :o

Hand cream - I get awful dry skin on my hands and I've found the best cream is Johnsons baby cream. It's really thick like Neutrogena and works well, but it only costs about 90p for a tube :money:I get dry skin on my feet so once a week I slather loads on and go to bed in a pair of cotton socks, and by morning my feet are lovely.
Here I go again on my own....
