I am probably feeding him 90% bottle and 10% breast as they seem to fill up too quick and he cant take it (forceful let down thing?) and is always sick when I breastfeed, it doesnt happen when he has EBM on bottle...he has the odd bottle of formula (last thing at night).

    Have a read through this:
    http://www.llli.org/FAQ/oversupply.html

Can I ask a few things:
How many bottles in 24 hours? How big is each bottle?
How many times do you pump? How much do you get each time?

Do you want to try and get direct feeding working for you both, or would you rather express?

Childminder has phoned, Alex is whingey whingey, whiney, whiney. His temp (taken with ear thermometer) is 38.3 degrees. She has given him Nurofen, but doesn't want me to go pick him up. She is a "good un". Others would have ordered me to pick him at the first sign of a splutter.
Will see how he goes tonight, if he is still restless and has a temperature, will try and get app with doctor tomorrow (Heres hoping?!). He's with my mum tomorrow, so at least if i need to be off work in the morning I will still be able to leave him with her later on in the day.

Feel horrible knowing he's feeling poorley and i can't be there to cuddle.:(

OMG this woman on Discovery has 16 children.......I have had comments from people because I decided to have a third...

Same here. I had two boys and then a girl and when she was born, loads of people have said that my family is complete. Yeah, like it's anybody elses business how many children I have

Shocking story when my Mam was poorly with PND. I was first born, then she had my brother and suffered PND. She went to see the Asian family doctor, who looked her in the face and said "you've managed to produce a son for your husband this time. What on earth have you got to be depressed about?" I think I would have smacked him one if that had happened to me :o Thankfully Mam got help through the HV.

I've hardly had anything to do with my HV since Charlotte was born. She's young with no children of her own, and just sat spouting stuff and every sentence starts with "well guidelines do say....." Yes because babies are uniform creatures who just adapt and slot into whatever the current fashion in guidelines is  I much prefer one of the others from the pool who's a mother of four herself, so she knows it's a balance of listening to all the information and then making the best choices for your baby. She said things like "well I'm supposed to tell you..... but as you know that doesn't always work, so ..........."
Here I go again on my own....
  • Boobie club was good this morning. It was nice to meet some other Mummies and although Henry was the youngest by some way, it was nice for him to see some other children, I think! I've been invited to a NCT committee meeting Monday night to get a bit more involved, so that should be good (except that I managed to leave all the address details behind when I left today so have emailed the organiser so hopefully she will get back to me).

GISI – if you did 3 days per week, would they not want to fill the other 2 days with someone else on a kind of job share basis or would they be happy just to have the post filled part time? Can you fit childcare around your DHs changing shifts? Would your work let you work different days each week if they are not filling the other part of your job? I am probably going back around June/July which is 9 months + annual leave. Would like to take a year though!

Basically, before ML my store was run between me, and three supervisors. One of us has to be on shift at all times the store is open, so this works out at two people a day. In addition I have an admin day where I get all my figures, 1 to 1s etc done. Currently my store is being run by just by the three supervisors, with my boss going in half a day a week or so to do the figures etc. I figure that as long as I maintain a good team of supervisors, there is no need for me to be there full-time, and that everything that is definitely managerial rather than supervisory will fit into three days. We always all work different days each week, take it in turns to have weekends off etc.

I'm planning to have 9 months off too. Are you doing any KIT days Fitz? I'm hoping to start mine soonish.

Is Christopher having a nice birthday, Sami? Can you believe that you're a Mummy to a three year old?

Maz-I'm still leaking big time at night. I only express a couple of times a week, but my supply is still a bit up and down.

I cannot believe that lady has 18 children and is pregnant with her 19th. That is madness!

  • I'm not catching up very well as I keep getting involved in other things, but HI to everyone

And on HV, with Jas I went to her to get Jas weighed and jabs ets .. but that was about it, and I had no issue with her at all. With Dylan, I dont know what I would have done without this one. She is a diff one to Jasmines, but she used to be a NICU nurse an a mid wife and has 3 kids one of which has special needs. She is fab and I couldnt ask for better help and advise. It was her that got Dylan his physio and eye tests and she did free baby massage classes with me when he first came home because there wasnt any classes near me and she is trained and she had about 20 weaning packs left over that had one thing out of date in them so they had to be binned and she gave me all the stuff that was still good (including all the money off vouchers) as my bubs was the only one she had at the time close to weaning :)
I think it depends on the baby and the parent, but I have never thought of them in any other way than someone to go to if you have any worries, concerns or just want a chat :)
