DS1's best friend who had a fit in our kitchen had another today. As well as being worried for him and his family it's also the end of his dream to join the Airforce. He left Ireland and his Mum last year to live here with his Dad as it's all he's ever wanted, such a shame. All the kids out there with no ambition and he had so much, life's can be carp sometimes!!!

Tara DD1 suffered 2 fits last year and the consultant told us in December that they will watch her for another 6 months and then discharge her and IF she ever has another they will look into it. Apparently very common in teenagers ( 3onitsway's sister had the same thing) which they can grow out of - not sure how old the lad is but hope everything works out ok for him.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Agutka - Keira has a bad diet and had dummy dependency, my fault also. The dummy, I took off her at 3 as she had went from bed time use to all day use and she had an open bite, her mouth has corrected itself but one of her front teeth slightly overlaps the next one now, but that's fine.

What is his fussy eating like? At one point all Keira would eat was chicken nuggets and toast  She will now eat

    Peas
    Most fruit
    Yoghurts
    Toast
    Cereal
    Eggs
    Fish
    Rice

So really it's carb central, not much meat either but she's happy, got plenty of energy, just got to try and not fret really, as I know me sitting pleading with her to eat a carrot has given the wee moo a sense of control!

I tried the not-fretting road, but how long can you really leave it for? I keep having visions of taking him to hospital with scurvy :rotfl:. But he's a happy energetic little boy. He will eat ham sandwiches, cocktail saussages (is this food??), frankfurters, fruit - apples, grapes, bananas, yoghurts, bread products, cheese only on pizza. And because his parents have no self control :o he eats a lot of sweet junk!! Where's the veg, where's the omega 3?
He's perfectly able to eat normal food - meat and veg and soups at the childminders or at SIL's or when there are other kids present. He NEVER has dinner with us. There was a period where the eat it or daddy will have it game worked, but now it's just a game and the food ends up on the floor

How do you get a toddler to just try something? Is that possible?

Keira won't even eat other food at other peoples houses or nursery. She is stubborn!

If you are worried about omega 3 etc, maybe get some chewable vitamins, I was giving Keira those when her diet was terrible.

The thing is with toddlers, you can starve them out, like if they don't eat their tea they get nothing else, but if they are anything like Keira, that suits her fine until breakfast (which she eats as its cereal/toast/fruit/yoghurt) so I can't starve her into eating haha!

Maybe try smaller portions on his plate?

I've stopped fretting so much, one of my friends only ate boil in the bag beef until he was 6, and he' alright :rotfl:
  • make dinosaur sandwiches by using a cookie cutter, or bribery works in my house !! we used to give Jas an extra 10mins up at night if she ate say 5 pieces of carrot !!

See MM I've tried all that, even inventing stupid names for food, she has NONE of it. Way too intelligent her.

Mind you, she tried prawn crackers (healthy I know!) the other day without prompting, she just has an aversion to things in sauce or errr brightly coloured things, unless it's a sweet!

Don't worry. It could take years but he sounds fine so just keep putting it out and ignore if he doesn't. DS1 was at least 6 before he tried anything outside his 'list'. Now he's an eternal dustbin!
Too many children, too little time!!!

  • Jas still doesnt eat anything in a sauce other than spag bol or gravey on her roast.
we went through a year and a bit when she wouldnt eat any meat at all, but we didnt know what to feed her as were not veggies so didnt have a clue !!
she grew out of it eventually when we just left her to it.
I always put something on her plate she liked and then other things aswell, and she just slowly over time eating little bits
