MOTM - Not commented on your situation cos not been around to know enough about it. However, if Lucy enjoys her job and its just the practice manager then could she look to move practices?
I am a practice manager and a very nice one at thatwhen I was working my way up I worked for a lovely practice manager with lovely partners HOWEVER I have also worked in some awful practices so it might be worth looking at another practice if she enjoys the job. Is she reception or admin?
Hi Glam, didn't realise you were a practice manager. Good person to talk to about it.
Her main concern is the manager. A very impolite person and snide with her remarks and looks down on Lucy and all the staff, including the GP's! Our mutual friend says she has a particular problem with Lucy because she can't find anything wrong with her, if that makes sense. Lucy prides herself on her appearance and polite manner and doesn't bite back.
She doesn't dislike her job, but I think she wants a change. I'll suggest moving practice to her, but it's not that easy is it? She enjoys interacting with the patients, the GP's in general are pleasant to her and her colleagues all like her. It's just this one woman who never calls her Lucy. Apparently it's 'her' or 'your assistant' when talking to the most senior receptionist about her or to her face it's Ms 'Surname' or 'young 'un'. Not called her Lucy since she became practice manager last April and she gets to help with the mother and toddler groups when needed as she's the 'young un' who needs the practice
She is reception. She quite likes it, but it now makes her sad. She won't say anything or complain as she's too shy to stir up trouble.0 -
I bet you don't say that once she's at school and you experience playground politics :rotfl:
You have to be fashionably dressed in clean clothes, immaculate hair, perfectly applied make up and say things in a loud voice like "oh and of course we never let him have sweets as he eats so much fruit", or "we do have a television but she only watches the wildlife programmes"
I used to work 9am-2pm when the boys were little, so I'd fly home and get cracking on with jobs and I couldn't be bothered to get changed again just to walk back along to school. Other mothers didn't think much of me turning up in tatty trainers and green stained clothing as I'd been gardening or paint stained clothes or covered in flour. Yup - I'm messy
Becles, the school round here is MING, you should see how I turn up at nursery some days, haven't even brushed my hair, just tie it back and hope no-one sees
Lol, one of Keira's friends mum is like "Oh gosh no, I didn't use disposables, I used re-usables because we have to save the environment and blah blah, he's so perfect" He's a little terror that hits everyone and washing the reusables at 90C....thats not very ECO!
I saw two mam's in the playground part of school laying into each other as one of their bfs had boned the other chick....don't think THEY will care if I show up in jeans and a tshirt from 1902 :rotfl:

apparently lots of trumping can be a sign of lactose intolerance - so said my HV anyway!
Yes and stomach cramps, Ben has lactose free milk but usually ok with a little amount in products. He can have a bad day if he has chocolate so likes to avoid it himself. OH was wondering about himself so he had no milk for 2 days then a large glass before going to bed. Woke with really bad tummy cramps. Since he's changed the excessive wind he's lived with has all but gone! :TMy_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »Afternoon ladies.
Benjamin fell out of the bed this morning
Hubby had just come downstairs to make a cup of coffee at about 7.45am and Benjamin crawled over to his side of the bed, got to the edge and stopped (because he knows it is the edge) and then sat down and fell backwards over the edge
Poor little man scared the life out of himself - he was very sweaty for a while - but no harm done
Just when you think you have taught them to stop at the edge of the bed something else happens!!
Hope everyone is okay. xx
 Hope is ok, poor little chap! XXXToo many children, too little time!!!0 -
BM- you have such a way with words...you crack me up :rotfl:(in a good way). Keira sounds adorable. I think she and Becles' Charlotte should meet up. Can you imagine the conversations between those two :rotfl:.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

She was telling the taxi driver earlier "Manny, I went Ice Skating today and I didn't fall over and get blood on my head, then I got ARSEY some little baby cute toy mice, then my mummy bought a bin, but HEY MUMMM WHY DIDNT YOU BUY ME THE BEAUTIFUL PURPLE SHOES WITH THE HEELS? Tangent....."
I really would like to see what goes on in her head, she had a lovely dream last night
"SWIPER NOOOO, DORA GET HIM!!"
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: .. keira and zoe would get on so well thats exactly how my madam thinks .. randomness :rotfl:xStill searching .....:)

That's like ours - all the time!I saw two mam's in the playground part of school laying into each other as one of their bfs had boned the other chick....don't think THEY will care if I show up in jeans and a tshirt from 1902 :rotfl:

When my ex first left us I had the 9-2 job, so my Mam used to pop up and walk the boys along to school for me and I'd pick them up in the afternoon. A few months after that, I took the plunge and went self employed which meant I could take the boys to school myself and then pick them up again in the afternoon, and I could start late on days when they had mass, harvest festival, carol services etc.
I was getting filthy looks in the yard for ages until I realised that because I was dropping the boys off and picking them up, people assumed I'd gone onto benefits
I think the playground experience is one of the worst bits of being a mother. We live right next to school so I was glad once they were old enough to walk to and from by themselvesHere I go again on my own....0 -

I would be having serious words with the senior partner about the comments in bold :mad::mad::mad::mad:
I started on reception @ 20 & was always referred to as this (everyone else was over 40) - in the end I flipped. When I was on reception talking to a patient and one of the other receptionists who was nearing retirement diidnt like the way I was talking and quite openly told me so. The next patient said 'Oh that told you' I was so embarrassedso I took her to one side & told her that in future if she had something to say she should do it away from the desk. the biatch slapped me on the arm & told me not to be a pathetic child.
After going to the practice manager & partners she was disciplined - I was the one laughing though cos after 18months I was Assistant Manager and she retired!
On the other hand I worked with an Indian GP who wasnt a partner so I was his boss and he hated it because I'm female & only 26, he wouldnt use my name (I was va PM by this time) and referred to me as 'her', 'she' or 'you' - I handed my notice in and tried to start a disciplinary BUT the partners of this place (also Indian) said it was part of their culture not to use first names. My response being 'We are in the UK not India'
Often the partners dont know whats going on so I would suggest a quiet word, I know you say Lucy is shy but if she gets on well with one of the GP's it might be worth her telling them that she is thinking of leaving & explain her reasons why.
Moving practices would just involve looking for jobs in other practices - if she's done reception then she could apply for reception in hospitals, clinics, wards etc as she would have all the skills. Google nhs jobs to see whats available in the area.
working on reception is very rewarding but I know there are lots of horrible GP's & PM's about unfortunately - probably the reason why I am going back to working for the PCT!!!!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

just seem to get a bit of a bashing sometimes.
Sorry Jillie, I was being tongue in cheek when I said that. There is nothing wrong with rusks, thats my point. There is also nothing wrong with non organic veg, but there are those who would have you beleive that if your not feeding them fruit and veg that has fallen from the tree (cos picking it is murder) and has been collected at full moon on a tuesday then it's totally going to give them bad teeth. It was a dig at the great 'they say'.
I stirred up something there didn't I?0 -
