Becles, thanks for the link, I am getting to the point where I am going to try and fix it myself. DH won't do plumbing after the great bathroom flood of a few years ago.

Keely, maybe he's ill because of the tooth? The boys always got the squits when cutting a tooth, was how I knew to look for one.

I don't have more patience for babies third time around, I just stopped caring :rotfl:

My friend used graphite cream on her lo and a pouch of oats in her bath, seemed to work. She had it on her scalp and it was making her hair fall out at one point.

Heh heh, Becles was outcasted by the mummy !!!!! for not wearing heels and white capri trousers! ner ner ner!

My best one was listening to a Mrs.I.Am go on about her new car and how she turned the parking sensor off because ' I have no need of that, my parking is perfect thanks to having to find a space close the school everyday ha ha ha!' then laughed as she reversed back to pull out and rammed into the car behind her :rotfl:beep, Beep, BEEEEEPPPPP!!!!!

And then the day I turned up with Amber in her carrier to collect DS1, I was MOBBED!!! Scary!
Anyone having problems with their kids staying in bed at night? Should try DH's approach. We bathed them, got them into jammies, tucked them in and I went to the loo and heard DH's parting words to them

'night boys, be good, love you, I left a stinky fart at your door so if you get up you'll smell it!' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Funnily enough, they haven't gotten back up!

Very wise of her MM. My dad was a twin, and I started out one but the other didn't stick. They also run in Husband's family and I was pig sick to find out I only had one in there :rotfl:

I would be having serious words with the senior partner about the comments in bold :mad::mad::mad::mad:

I started on reception @ 20 & was always referred to as this (everyone else was over 40) - in the end I flipped. When I was on reception talking to a patient and one of the other receptionists who was nearing retirement diidnt like the way I was talking and quite openly told me so. The next patient said 'Oh that told you' I was so embarrassed :o so I took her to one side & told her that in future if she had something to say she should do it away from the desk. the biatch slapped me on the arm & told me not to be a pathetic child.

After going to the practice manager & partners she was disciplined - I was the one laughing though cos after 18months I was Assistant Manager and she retired!

On the other hand I worked with an Indian GP who wasnt a partner so I was his boss and he hated it because I'm female & only 26, he wouldnt use my name (I was va PM by this time) and referred to me as 'her', 'she' or 'you' - I handed my notice in and tried to start a disciplinary BUT the partners of this place (also Indian) said it was part of their culture not to use first names. My response being 'We are in the UK not India'

Often the partners dont know whats going on so I would suggest a quiet word, I know you say Lucy is shy but if she gets on well with one of the GP's it might be worth her telling them that she is thinking of leaving & explain her reasons why.

Moving practices would just involve looking for jobs in other practices - if she's done reception then she could apply for reception in hospitals, clinics, wards etc as she would have all the skills. Google nhs jobs to see whats available in the area.

working on reception is very rewarding but I know there are lots of horrible GP's & PM's about unfortunately - probably the reason why I am going back to working for the PCT!!!!

She won't have words that's the problem.

She is writing up her resignation now and says she will include her reasons why and leave nothing out as she has nothing to lose.

So this 'young un' name is not a new thing? It baffles me.

Your older colleague sounds like the practice manager Lucy has. Very patronising and self righteous. Bang out of order.

I'd hoped she would complain, but she's putting into writing her resignation with her reasons and she's ensured me she won't leave anything out and she will hand it to the senior partners tomorrow.

Sorry to hear of your problems with the Indian GP. A couple of Indian GP's work in Lucy's place and call her Lucy  Everyone does apart from this one woman

I know a relatively new, maybe 2 years, GP, who is not a partner is friendly with her. A young scouse GP, female. Maybe I can get her to say something to her.

I'll see what she does and take it from there at around 5.30pm tomorrow.

Best of luck with the PCT. You sure you don't want to be Lucy's boss? :o

I should add, this woman is rude and snidey to everyone, even the GP's by all accounts, but she's 'good at her job'. Lucy is working with other receptionists and admin staff, but she is the youngest and least likely to answer back, although she's been there longer than half of them by all accounts.

I'll try and toughen her up. She deserves more respect than she gets off this cow.

Thanks for taking the time to post such a long response.
