Morning everyone
Just came on to catch up whilst Caitlin has a lie-in and I can now hear her chatting to herself over the monitor. I'll catch up as much as I can before she starts crying...
Off to Rhyme Time today then an afternoon at home, I tihink. I took her to be weighed yesterday and she's 15lb 6oz at 27 weeks - still following the 25th percentile.0 -

forgive me for not catching up very well, but have a poorly bubba asleep in my arms at the minute, but wanted to comment on bruo's post.
bruno - as you know, i am in a similar situation to you and your wife. i can understand the bout of depression and hopelessness as i had a recurrance of this not long back. i know i have said before how difficult i have found being a new mum and being away from my family.
however .. i know that my life at present is here in the UK with my husband and our little girl. it took everything i had to get on the plane to come back but my marriage is extremely important to me and for the time being, our life is here inthe UK, even though i find it difficult at times.
also, as you already know, do not underestimate the stress that the immigration process will put on you. i finally have full residency here in the UK, but it took many years, loads of money and now loads of grey hairs. it is one reason i am not jumping at the chance to go back home becuase i just cant handle all that stress again (as hubby and bubs will have to go through the process).
i appreciate your wife may find it hard to make friends and i did to, initiallhy only having friends through work and an ex girlfriend of hubby's mate, but i forced myself to make friends through baby clinic/group and now i have two really good mum friends and our girls were all born within a month.
sorry if i have rambled and not made a lot of sense.
Thanks AF and Carla. OH has been here more than 3 years now, but between being a writer then SAHM (so never meeting anyone through work) and just being naturally shy she still has only a couple of friends and they aren't conveniently placed or scheduled.
She does have indefinite right to remain now, and yes it was an agonising paperwork process with loads and loads of hassle and cost! I can handle it if we go the other way, but ugh. I will be asking around at work though - as in theory my company are very big in the US and do support people relocating and would sort out green cards and stuff if I could find an appropriate job through them. However, I know they don't have many offices in Northern California.
The hunting sounds a bit intense Carla! I think your frustration sounds pretty justifiedwhereas of course my situation is entirely different and I am the soul of reasonableness ;p :A might have a proper rant later but got to head out into the ice and darkness now...

Signing her up to an expat's women's club as we speak.
I have one of these, and it was the best thing I did after coming here - nobody but an expat can really know what it's like and it can be hard to break into established groups of friends. Plus there's something a bit difficult about English patterns of speech (the Germans tell me...) people will say they'll call you, and they could mean " ... or you call me" or "... when hell freezes over." And if you're a bit shy you don't want to be pushy and it all gets very complicated.
She's already done the hardest bit. I've a friend in Worthing who's roughly in her position, although she's pregnant with her first, and she found it hard going but got there in the end

Elle - hugs for your horrible morning yesterday but well done on a sitting up Rhys!!!
Weezl - if it's still OK, I do have a photo. I need someone's head removingIt's a photo of me and my Grandad at my wedding but someone's head is in the background. It's against a wall though, so I was wondering if you could put some wall over his face?
Would it be OK to email it to you rather than put it on here though please?
SS - glad your first day back wasn't too bad. Cute pics of Molly too.
GISI - I've got a breadmaker but it hasn't been used since before Caitlin was born. I really need to dust it down and use it again.
Fattybooboo - beautiful picture of Toby. I love his sleepsuit. Caitlin got a Lotty Ladybird for Christmas too. she loves it too!
CSH - loving the dribbly pic! We have that changing mat.
Tigs - hi  Andrew looks very comfy in his monkey. Was that a crimbo present?
Glam - you're back!! Hope you had a good Xmas
Buttons - how's Keira?
Wow, I've managed to catch up and Caitlin's still asleep. Need to get in the shower but I know the moment I do, she'll wake up. Might go and have breakfast and prepare her bottles then see if she's awake after that.
Have a good day everyone. Catch you later!!0 -

:rotfl:That would be funny, the bendy pregnant woman!
No, It is Ds2 he is double Jointed/hypermobile joints...whatever you want to term it, he has it.....He has had it since a baby but they have only just diagnosed it properly as they say up until 5yrs all kids a pretty flexible anyway! I really want to know what is best for him excercise/sports wise.
Some people see it as a gift in terms of dancing/gymnastics etc and as much as I would love him to do something like this, I know after he has done anything physical he complains of aching so I wouldn't want him ot do anything that may cause him pain...
Swimming seems to be the key, and something like Yoga/Pilates.
Bet you're sorry you asked now, ain't ya:pI was asleepThen playing games with Rhys.. who won't sit up for me and OH for love nor money!
Babies ALWAYS do that, it is sooo frustrating isn't it. They learn a new trick/skill , do it once and then it takes them anything from a few days to a few weeks to remember how they did it:rolleyes:chopsticks wrote: »Off to Rhyme Time today then an afternoon at home, I tihink. She's growing nicely, have a nice time out today:DUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

feelinggood wrote: »Fatty, babies do improve and become more effeciant. My Toby used to feed for at least 40 minutes at a time (long story, he didn't take to it easily) but now is 5 - 10 minutes each time. I was a super effeciant feeder, I never fed for more than 8 minutes! As long as baby is happy, gaining weight and meeting milestones, then everything is great!
40 mins!!! blimey lucky if William does 15 mins at the moment!! Really being a pain at the momentMum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -

morning all,
bruno, carla, scruffy, thanks for your posts. sorry i disappeared and didn't reply to them but LO woke and had a time getting her settled.
bruno - i hope you do find some common ground with your OH, whether that is staying here or a move back to the US. i know how hard it is.not sure these are things we fully appreciate when we decide to move to the other side for world. i hope your wife finds her way i really do. i'm around here or facebook, PM or message me as a sounding board if you ever feel like it. i go through really low phases of being away from home, but i know for now my place is here and you never know what the future holds.
elle - soooo sorry, i missed the news about rhys sitting up. yay rhys!!!!!! big kisses xxx0
