Bruno, its harder with your first (I found). Everything is so different and you don't know yourself anymore. But, she does need to learn how to cope on her own. As much as I hated my DH for leaving me on my own to cope, I'm glad now that he did. And that he stood by me when I threw tantrums about it.
Is she confined to the house or is it just of her own making? I was stuck in a wee village and had to take 2 buses to visit anyone. Found making friends hard but did eventually get friendly with a neighbour. Was easier when I had DS2, I learned to drive and had relaxed into being a mother more.0 -
Thanks Mel, and all
OH having a bit of mini-breakdown of depression and hopelessness. I don't want to have a proper rant because I agree that things are very hard for her
but not sure how much further I can go either without really exploding in resentment. Back to looking seriously at moving to California now.
Oh no, hope things aren't too bad.
Does she have a lot of family in california, would you move to be nearby to them? How would you cope living over there?Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

We should be having a mini meet tomorrow then! I am only 30 mins in the other direction he he. I haven't been to the new part yet. Need to go through sometime as not been there since I was pregnant. The last timem I went through I ended up going to the Gyle.
I take it you are on a tour of shopping centres then Scruffy!
We should but were off to Ikea again as the Glasgow one didn't have what we wanted and the couldn't tell us if they even had it in stock as surprise surprise there was a prob with there comp system:rolleyes:
we did the glasgow outlets when we were there and did Mc Arthur glen today doing Almondvale properly tomoroEveryone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -
Well, the 'everything is different' was massively compounded for OH by having moved to the UK the previous year, and (especially once pregnant and then with newborn) having no friends and family around at all except me, and my mum who tried too hard to be involved and supportive.
She's not confined to the house at all, and does do toddler groups and rhyme time and one'o'clock clubs most weekdays, which is all useful. She just doesn't really have any proper friends in London - her one or two friends here are in full-time work, or live outside London. She's not a quick socialiser and very unsure of making new friends.
I dunno, we shall see. Signing her up to an expat's women's club as we speak.
Mel, yes, she has loads of family and close 'family' friends there where we'd move. I'd like lots of things about living there, but not all, and we both agree that raising a child is mostly a bit better here than there (not entirely!). I have a really good job here, and would have to go through green card hoops to be allowed to work there at all, let alone in a job nearly as good (flexible, interesting, and well-paid) as my current one.0 -

Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Sounds like a tricky situation really Bruno.....Maybe she will 'settle in' but then again if she was going to do you think it would have happened by now?
Are you able to take a career break for 6mths/year and go on an extended holiday over there to see how things would be if you lived there?
Have to log off now to wash and make bottles, need to finish off reading up about hypermobility too!!
