money_maker wrote: »MFD, did you have a chat with the practice wife about DSS staying up late?
Hubby did. PW said that Friday is the only night she gets to spend with DSS () so hubby suggested that she can have him back on a Sat night every other week or every third week...she suggested we take DSS back early on a Sunday morning (read - I like you babysitting so I can go out!!). So it was left hanging but our point was heard.
Then when hubby left PW text him to say that she sometimes gets the feeling that he doesn't approve of the way that she is bringing DSS up. Which, as you know if you have heard me talk about DSS, is not true at all, his dad just gets upset when DSS is falling asleep at lunchtime on a saturday. Hubby called her to reassure her. There is a way forward and I understand her point - who wants to do all the early nights and homework parts of childcare and miss out on the fun parts??
We will get there - but she succeeded in making us feel guilty along the way. It is a difficult balance
On the bright side she listened to hubbys wishes about Christmas day (she wanted DSS back at her house by 9am - which means leaving our house at 8.40am). She is picking him up from ours at 12:T

I really should do something before my brain turns to mush!
First job is clearing out the house and doing lots of ebaying and trips to the tip. Thats should cover a month or two!
Oooh, busy busy. Get back a bit of space and get in a bit of cash sounds good though. Then nice Mr Tescos would have bought me some more. Was more worried about him breaking a leg or something.
He wouldn't have a very good Christmas then would he
Anyway, i'm not supposed to be here. I've given myself a new rule of no internet after midnight. Well, it was an agreement actually, so we could get to bed at sensibleish time. Yes, i'm already owned
Goodnight everyone :cool:0 -
Before I go - is DSS a horror, or is it a girl thing? x
He flits from one to the other in the blink of an eye! Mostly when things don't go his way. We are lucky that he is mostly a good boy at the moment but he has streaks of horrorness - much more so for his mum
He has little hairs on his chin...I wonder if his hormones are kicking in
By the time I was 9 I was wearing a bra and had started my periods. Although I was quite a sedate teenager.
Edit - DSS doesn't bring his DS to our house anymore - ithe got told off too many times for not switching it off when asked and holding it too close to his eyes!!! 3- he was dressed in his uniform this morning when I said "there is no way on earth you are going to work today!" you would think he'd have learnt from ending up in hospital in glasgow 2yrs ago!! they said if he'd left it much longer before getting medical help he'd probably be on dialisys (sp?) waiting for new kidney and or liver !!!
on that note I'm gonna go to bed, hopefully this little boy will get the hint that it's sleepy time!!0 -
Glad you found a good compromise MFD.
I'm off, OH snoring on sofa next to me so I've sat through hour of a very pants film of his choosing for no reason. Night. XXXToo many children, too little time!!!0 -
thats great news about christmas MFD !! at least you wont have to rush everything now !!
My sis DSS usually comes to their house at about 5pm on christmas day and they open all their presents and then have a big christmas dinner for him again onboxing day, but this year he isnt getting to theirs till 8pm and their son will be in bed. She isnt very happy about it, as it has been the same arrangement for the last 10 years, but the ex is a bit of a biatch and like to ruin all plans that sis and BIL have at any given opportunity, and she isnt allowing BIL to call in on christmas morning this year either as her OHs mum will be there and it would be too weird !! !!!!!!!! !!!
Night sami xx Hope you all feel better in the morning
