I live in Ayrshire, and qualify, but haven't received one payment yet, despite 3 payments having been triggered.

Oh well. Not holding much hope.

It's automated- I'm sure you'll get it, probably just waiting to be signed off.

Whoever decides these SILLY rules for who gets what really needs to live on it themselves. They wouldnt last 5 minutes,We didnt choose to live this way did we.

To be fair, this is the UK.. could be a lot worse. Heck, I don't even have to see an ATOS "doctor" after returning my IB50 this time (case based on mental health descriptors). Can anybody else make that claim?? Now I'm certain I'm mentally ill !!!
(..must be that 500 words were I spilled my guts writing about my sad and lonely existence!)

It is hard to design a system that works for everyone. However, although I don't know the logic behind this 7 day 0C rule (it's not random) I think it would make more sense on an individual basis if smaller payments were made per extra-cold day. That would be unworkable of course, have you a better suggestion??

I actually think CWP is one area where the DWP are fairly generous. £25 on top of my normal payments - that covers my bills during these cold weeks. The irksome thing is the not knowing what's happening, and that's a typical result of beauracracy. IMO, just one person could collate the incoming data, and put it on a web page keeping the entire population up to date. Hey.. I could do that..

A Government Minister has just appeared on the BBC News Channels saying the money will be paid in time for people receiving their fuel bills!!

And you should not worry about keep your heating on day and night if necessary. Apperantly she reckons 25 quid will cover a weeks fuel needs.

    What the  !

No Mention or Acknowledgment that some People need the Money LIKE NOW, to credit their gas meters, in order to obtain heat!

    Not me thankfully.

I phoned DWP a couple of days before christmas - was told my incapacity benefit would be paid early on Christmas eve... phew I thought.. then it didn't come.. whoever told me that got it wrong (how???)

Luckily I managed to borrow £30 off someone so topped up the meter

They seem to be working off forecasts atm, so that's a step in the right direction.

We were supposed to get JSA on 30th December (I thought it would be the 4th jan). We still haven't had it and a phonecall today soon uncovered the reason......the keyboard tapper at the jobcentre didn't press the right button to activate the payment. We had to borrow money too as all our bills and rent are going out throughout the week.
Despite it being labelled as urgent with an urgent callback (within 3hrs), we had no call today and nothing has appeared in our account. Still, why should they worry? They go home from their well paid 9 til 4 jobs to a warm, cosy house and a fridge full of food. We are just faceless voices.

Thank God we have good family and friends!:T
Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]

  • Argh, this doesn't make sense to me.

I get disability living allowance, lower mobility, high level care.
Plus incapacity benefit due to illness obviously.
Meaning i get nothing for cold weather payments, right?

Although if i was instead on ESA or indeed income support, which i could be, and i would be put on ESA if i re-applied now, with some sort of disability premium i imagine, as incapacity benefit has been stopped, I WOULD get cold weather payments. How on earth is this right? Please, someone let me know if i have this wrong in any way.

It's the same thing with free NHS care, which you get on ESA but not incapacity benefit. The only reason i get incapacity and not ESA is because i applied years ago and the amount i get on incapacity is more than I'd get in income support due to an age addition (not that much more, but a bit), i used to get income support before the incapacity benefit amount i was eligible for went beyond the amount i received on IS due to the IB changing to the long term rate.

Is anyone else in the same/similar situation? I am rather frustrated to be honest as i could REALLY do with the extra money right now.
