mum2one - how petty and mean, they don't deserve your help. You shouldn't feel bad about resigning, why should you put yourself in a position where you have put up with that kind of attitude...
    Thank you xx

On the gift front, I did really well at Boots - my local had lots of stuff on Weds morning, including loads and loads of the big Gok Wan sets and Boots Extracts. I bought:

5 x Boots Extracts travel bag (£18 down to £4.50) for 3 friend's Christmas, Mother's Day for my Mum and SIL birthday Love those
    1 x FCUK lip gloss/body spray/purse set (£15 to £3.75) for Niece's birthday
2 x FCUK shower gel/deodorant/boot bag sets (£15 to £3.75) for two nephews birthdays
1 x Elle McPherson body spray set (£12 to £3) for friend's Christmas - there fab got dd one for xmas....
1 x cube photoframe (£8.99 to £2.24) for BF's 30th (will fill with piccies of us)
    1 x Rose handwash/lotion set (£6 to £1.50) for Grandad's partner)
1 x Hot Choc Mug (£8 ot £2) for MIL's Mother's Day (will make Baileys Truffles to go with)

    Got 13/21 birthdays done
    2/2 Mother's Day
    3/21 Christmas

Need to buy a pack of bargain gift tags now so I can wrap em up and put em away :j

Thats one well organised shopping list...... if I have run out of gift tags (last wack was Woolworths closing down sale), I cut a small piece of the wrapping paper, so if was ladies rose design, cut round the rose, and use that. Same for mens - if you buy matching tags upto 50p tag.
    xx

Hi again all, my lovely cousin and her little boy are moving house this weekend and I want to get them a housewarming present (it's a very sudden move so they've had no time to prepare - only saw the house yesterday!). I was thinking of making a 'room' sign for her little boy - he's got an unusual name as his Dad's Turkish so thought he'd appreciate something personalised.

I'm thinking of making a mini 'chill-out' hamper for her - was thinking of putting in the following:

    Bottle of wine
    Chocs
    Bath bomb of some sort
    Fluffy socks or slippers

Can anyone think of any other things I can include? Thanks xx

PS - Wish we'd known about the move on Weds as could have got some great stuff from Boots but all sold out now! :))

That sounds lovely, the boy love something with his name on it.

Love the sound of the hamper, really relaxing stuff for evening.

Without souding daft - what about an "emergency day hamper" - doesn;t have to be expensive

Couple mugs - maybe £1.00 shop
    coffee,
    sugar,
    teabags,
    biscuits
    toilet roll,
    can coke

The coffee etc, you could either go for full packs, or if you have some small containers put small amounts in there.

Just when we go on holiday, get the caravan keys the 1st thing mother wants is a coffee, dad a tea, dd - anything she can get her hands on and the dog (the last one, this ones in training) visit the pub. So we always put them in a bag at the top of the car, but if shes moving house everything be packed away.

would say magazine for the boy or a book - did originally suggest colouring book and crayons - but think hes a bit old for that!

  • Thanks mum2one for the gift tag and pressy ideas :) Wrapping paper has big stars on so could easily use those.

I have a key to the house so might sneak in and leave surprise first day supplies. They won't have a cooker til 5th Feb either so think I might have a cookathon this weekend so I can take her some 'proper' food that she can freeze and microwave - otherwise they're going to be stuck with pot noodles and ready meals :)

That sounds a lovely idea cooking the meals, sometimes its the things that people wouldn't normally think of (such as meals) that would be so welcome.

Hope the move goes ok. xx

    Ahh... saffstar aren't you thoughtful!

I would have loved a nice gift like that, and cooking some food to freeze is a brilliant idea.

  • This may be useful to you saffstar but also anybody who is making food hampers:

Wilko are selling Douwe Egberts coffee (machine or caffetiere) for 36p with a November 2011 date on it

£land are selling boxes of Duchy Originals Organic teabags in a variety of flavours. These have 2012 date on them.

This is the first year I have planned what I am getting for everybody and by doing it this way I am finding things I need for hampers when I go shopping. Just have to put them together and make other things during the summer before I go back to Uni. Should have everything done for Christmas by September fingers crossed. :D

    Much cheaper too!:j
