    Hello all :j
Trying to be organised and been doing easter cards -seemed to take me an age but I've got quite a few done so nearly there.
Still need to get something for foster daughters OH's birthday and am well stuck. He's always awkward to but for - far as I know he's only interested in cars (top gear stuff I've got) so now I'm baffled.
Want to get something for OH's birthday and racking my brain about that.............it's not till end of March so bit of time yet but the way my brain works I need to start thinking hard !
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Totally digressing but was after a few opinions,

Background - b4 xmas went to dds pta and got asked would I mind taking the minutes for the meetings - they are basic as I'm not a typist, 2 meetings all ok, xmas draw, I did all the begging opps - meant to say would you like to donate to the raffle - I got over 20 gifts and face value over £400...

Meeting today, the chairwoman did the meeting, all ok, she had to shoot off, but some of the mums were discussing sewing group, donating material, whilst this was going on, one of the established members asked what happened to the notes, I said I typed them up, done as notes, passed them to the chairperson. She then proceeded to moan she never saw the notes, that from my description weren't good enough, and that she wanted an email copy sent to her.

The person who had previously taken the minutes, (lucky was still there), said that when she did the minutes (5 yrs) done and filed away.

By this time the woman had got a piece of paper going round collecting email addresses.

Once I left the meeting I told the chairperson, that I was resigning from the PTA, due to the situation over the notes, I know it sounds petty, but why didn't she bring it up whilst it was an open meeting, why now when I've done 3 meetings worth of notes and why not volunter herself.

I know I take things to heart, but with things like the PTA, coz I can't do physical side of things coz of the crutches and disability I said I'd do behind the scenes.
    xx

  • mum2one - how petty and mean, they don't deserve your help. You shouldn't feel bad about resigning, why should you put yourself in a position where you have put up with that kind of attitude...

On the gift front, I did really well at Boots - my local had lots of stuff on Weds morning, including loads and loads of the big Gok Wan sets and Boots Extracts. I bought:

5 x Boots Extracts travel bag (£18 down to £4.50) for 3 friend's Christmas, Mother's Day for my Mum and SIL birthday
    1 x FCUK lip gloss/body spray/purse set (£15 to £3.75) for Niece's birthday
2 x FCUK shower gel/deodorant/boot bag sets (£15 to £3.75) for two nephews birthdays
1 x Elle McPherson body spray set (£12 to £3) for friend's Christmas
1 x cube photoframe (£8.99 to £2.24) for BF's 30th (will fill with piccies of us)
    1 x Rose handwash/lotion set (£6 to £1.50) for Grandad's partner)
1 x Hot Choc Mug (£8 ot £2) for MIL's Mother's Day (will make Baileys Truffles to go with)

    Got 13/21 birthdays done
    2/2 Mother's Day
    3/21 Christmas

Need to buy a pack of bargain gift tags now so I can wrap em up and put em away :j

  • Hi again all, my lovely cousin and her little boy are moving house this weekend and I want to get them a housewarming present (it's a very sudden move so they've had no time to prepare - only saw the house yesterday!). I was thinking of making a 'room' sign for her little boy - he's got an unusual name as his Dad's Turkish so thought he'd appreciate something personalised.

I'm thinking of making a mini 'chill-out' hamper for her - was thinking of putting in the following:

    Bottle of wine
    Chocs
    Bath bomb of some sort
    Fluffy socks or slippers

Can anyone think of any other things I can include? Thanks xx

PS - Wish we'd known about the move on Weds as could have got some great stuff from Boots but all sold out now! :))

  • You could include a magazine, some candles, maybe a cheap DVD?
    Making money for Christmas 2012!
  • Thanks NickyBo - she's fine for DVDs after Christmas (I know she's got some she ahsn't been able to watch yet) but candles and mags sound great - she never gets to treat herself to 'little' things like that. Will get onto it tomorrow :)

I know it is "boring" but how about making change of address cards and buying her some stamps to post them off. So easy to forget to let people know you have moved with the excitement of a new place.

If son is young could always ask him to put a personal touch on there x
