Evening all, I have had a nightmare day and need to share - it was my work's Christmas do last night and kids were staying over at my parents. OH had gone to work this morning, the phone rang at 7.15 - my mum, no panic but your dad has fallen down stairs and thinks he has broken his foot. I got up and ready (bang went my lie in) to go and fetch kids. Find dad still sitting on the stairs with his right foot pointing at a right angle. Long story short, dislocated and broken - heavily sedated, and needs an operation. Have spent the day at the hospital with my mum. Am absolutely devastated for both of them. All idea of Christmas has gone out of the window, my mum is talking about having their Christmas in January now as don't know how long dad will be in hospital for. :-(

junior - there was me thinking a Christmas ghost was just trying to give you some extra decorations to enjoy and truth came out..............lol:rotfl:

esmer - glad you're able to get our and about better now. Snows thawed a bit here but then froze on top so still dodgy to walk on (for me anyway)
Had phone call today from a lad we used to look after who now lives in Lanark and he's able to get out and about ok now.

foxy -so sorry to hear about your Dad. Your Mums right........maybe best to have Christmas in the new year..............it's just a day when all's said and done so really doesn't matter which day does it.
I remember my Mum being in bed for the whole of Christmas week with a really nasty bout of flu.........not helped with Dad being diabetic, and eyesight problems so he couldn't read instructions on any microwave meals for himself.
They had their Christmas when Mum was fit and well and we all had a lovely time.:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Foxy - thats terrible about your Dad but I am sure they won't keep him in hospital any longer than needed, it is Christmas afterall and they like patients to be at home if possible. My firend's Dad has just been in hospital for 5 weeks waiting for a triple heart bypass and within 10 days of the op he was home!

Junior_j - my mum died 5 years ago this Monday coming (13/12) and I am sure she hides stuff from me - only for it to turn up exactly where I looked for it!!! It was curtain hooks she hid last time!

I don't like all this spooky stuff.

Foxy - It will all turn out ok. As long as your Dad is alright, it doesn't matter when Christmas is.

My mum had a knee replacement the day before Christmas Eve nine years ago now. The nurses were lovely and made it fun, and the hospital volunteers brought everyone presents. Mum came out on New Years Eve, so New years day was our Christmas that year. It'll be fine. Thinking of your Mum and Dad. Sending big hugs to you too.

    Hi all

Foxy - I can only reiterate what others have said, how awful for your Dad but I am sure he will be home quickly.

My Grandad passed away as you know on the 26th November and so far all the family have had things be found. OH came into bedroom other morning and said he would need to put light on as he had lost a screw from his glasses. My first thought was that my Grandad always had a little bag of specs screws and that he know wouldnt be able to help me fix them. I said to him "You've got no chance of finding that" OH switched light on and glowing so it could not possibly be missed was the little screw!!! The other weird thing is my Mum said she wanted to get some of those lanterns to send up to Grandad on New Years Eve. She went to Bingo this week and what do you think the free gift was??? Yep a pack of 5 lanterns!!

Work party last night, I drank an excessive amount but honestly wasnt drunk and ended up looking after some of the younger worse for wear ones on the bus home.

Christmas tree is now uo, next to tackle the wrapping mountain, Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Foxy - can only reiterate what people are saying, hope your feeling ok and not worrying too much.

Not had any spooky stuff lately, but my dd does come out with the weirdest things, and at 3yrs old should not know. SO I think she is being told by others......

Mary - small world we live in, when a boy you looked after lives in Lanark, which is not far from here. The snow has almost gone now, other than the HUGE piles built up with the snowplough.

I made more of the boxes tonight, and cello wrapped my little cupcake bathbombs. everything is now individually wrapped, just have to work out how to put it all together, and what to put it in>?? whithout costing the earth :(

    Off to bed now............

Foxy - Hope everything goes on ok with your dad, the hospital kick him out (in the of ways asap), the neighbour facing us, he had an op on his knee, they sent him home the next day.

Junior J - Sorry I had to laugh, about the decs thought you'd got a visitor then!!

Mary - Just a thought with your son coming up, instead of doing a tradational turkey, why not do a turkey crown, we get the cook from Frozen from Iceland, - think there £6, but if you have a Lidl nearby theres is literally 1 1/2times size of Icelands and was £5. We tried it before getting one for xmas, and it was lovely. That way - you can do a meet in the middle with the xmas meals xx

We didn't go to see Father Christmas today, as we were meant to be taking Miss Hoodies friend, but she had an eye test so couldn't do sat, but could do Sun, but were at the panto..... so Miss Hoodie didn't want to go without her, so think we may be trying for next Sat......

So have been semi-productive and done the food hampers up, they took ages...... I felt like I'd done 100, - but its the fiddling around that took the time. But I can highly recommend the flavoured vodkas, did Pear drop, Kola cube, caramel, and toffee - there lush, the wine gum -- think I used to much wine gums as it set into jelly!!

Get some more wrapped 2mor, feel like I'm on the home straight, - everything is piled into ladies, gents, kids, and then our stuff is upstairs.

Thought I deserved a treat, so after my scooter incident...... I went into Boots to have a look what was offer of the week, it was the Gok Wan, - really nice, full size products, and was £22 instead of £45...... so v plzed.

Give you a laugh - my mobility scooter incident!!

Did an absolute classic friday- the "monthly visit to town!", so hired my scooter, in poundland, the corner was really tight as they had put 1 displays of glow bracelets infront of the shelf, making it really narrow, got past as a push, tight squeeze, thought got no chance of reverseing there, so a 3 point turn - turned into a 8 point turn, then tried to go down this aisle only to find too late that they had now added a 2nd display right in front, so head 1st I went into it........ dad he disappered down the ailse........ while this staff member came up moaning, before I had chance to speak this older lady had a right go at him, threatening him with disability discrimination, that she was on walking stick and had trouble getting around, how could a poor defenless woman on a scooter have any chance......
So don't think I'll be welcome back in there!!
    xx
