I've not been able to get much done for Christmas the past couple of weeks due to the weather, but I made it to the local retail park on the bus today and got quite a few bits and bobs quite cheaply. Got some posh scented soaps from the Body Shop for flannel reindeer using the £5 off voucher from the Telegraph; pipe cleaners (flannel reindeer) and a pack of stickers for my friend's little girl from Hobbycraft, and sterling silver stud flower earrings from Claires Accessories with 20% student discount for my friends other daughter. This means that I can do a bit more wrapping tonight and hopefully deliver the gifts to my friend's house next week sometime. I stuck the eyes and nose onto my flannel reindeers at the weekend so just need to put the antlers and ribbon on now and they'll be good to go as well.
Dad's present is in the post from Amazon, and I've still got to get something for my gran, and a wee stocking filler for one of my friends but other than that I'm done! :T0 -
esmer - looked on your blog for tutorial about boxes (fab by the way) and couldn't find one..............;)
Hope you're all ok and keeping warm (despite what the weathemen say I still think its cold:(

I was teasing. I'd love a real tree, but I can't be putting up with the needles. I had a live one in a pot a couple of years ago, and even that dropped it's needles in the warmth of the house.
You have a nice weekend Rufus - it's a pity OH bonus didn't come through and spoiled your plans. I hope the meter stays OK until Thursday and that you keep warm too.
Ditto, would love a real tree, but its the artifical one, has to go in the hall, otherwise Bailey would have a mad half hour, try and eat the baubales - endless mess.
I might be going mad (so apologies in advance) I'm sure that read somewhere that spraying hairspray on the tree is suppose to stop the needles dropping off.
The other tip - sounds mad but it does work, if you have fresh flowers - add a small squirt of bleach to the vase, keeps the flowers alive. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Morning All
Hope everyone is well. It rained on and off here most of yesterday so all the icy pavements are now clear and back to being walkable:j Managed to get a few bits done yesterday while out and about.
Esmer - I also forget to take my cards and a parcel to post
Cdsmiler - Thanks for the luck think I will need it LOL... Post is working with the public again which I'm looking forward too as its what I used to do, rather than being stuck in an office all day so I'm quite excited but still a little nervous as the last post I had was a load of C&%P!!! sorry for swearing lol but it was:D and I'm hoping this wont be the same.
Elysia - Yes I'm looking forward to having a bit more free time, give me more time to keep up on here and catch up on my money neutral... talking of which I must pop over onto that thread and catch up.
DS1 enjoyed his birthday, were taking him out today to spend his birthday money, he loved his new Camera and spent most of last night taking pictures and running in to show them to us all.
Right I need another Coffee and got a few bits to do while the kids are still in bed.
Take Care & Catch you all later

Just a quick note this morning as lots to do. Managed to get some nice pretty star lights in 99p shop that run on batteries for the table decoration, looks really nice, I put a bit of tinsel around the outside to hide the battery pack and wires. Will take a photo later on when I get a chance.
Found a game in the charity shop, my eldest daughter has been saying for a while now how she would like the board game Risk for her and the kids as the two boys would enjoy that. Went in my favourite one and there on the shelf was a Lord Of The Rings version of Risk. Had a look inside and it looked like someone had taken all the pieces out of the bags but never played with it. Was ony £3.50 so bought it then when I got home I bagged up all the pieces in cello bags and stuck the dice in with some sticky tape and it looks like a new game. Very pleased with the result. I have wrapped it up and put it for the whole family between them.
Bought the food for todays nice meal, table looks lovely with the little gift boxes. Loved your ones Esmer xx. Have MrT shop coming between 11 and 1.
Must go anyway as veg to peel etc. Have a nice weekend Rufus xx0 -

Hello all! :santa2:
Very busy morning tidying things away to make space for a tree! We're off to buy one in a bit, I am fiendishly excited. And once it's up I can put all the presents under it and have my wardrobe back :j I'm also going to wrap my mother and brother's birthday presents and cards so I can send them back with my parents (who are coming on Monday, hence the stressed cleaning and tidying and organising).
Very long list for today but it's looking good so far. Hope everyone else is getting on well!Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Well done Sugarspun. We have presents under our tree but none are mine - that is, none I've wrapped! I need to get motivated. Argggh.
Been a busy bee this morning though, getting the Money Making thread ready for next year. It's in Word so I only have to copy and paste it in a new thread, in the next week or so! So exited about that!!! I worked out my totals and Money Neutral with some to spare (and thats without the bingo wins) Woo Hoo.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Afternoon all! Can I ask some advice please? I need to give my Step Brother and his Wife a Christmas gift as they always buy my son a Christmas and Birthday present. They live in Kent and we rarely see each other apart from big family occasions like Christmas and wedding or family BBQ's when thry come down in the summer so not very close with them and hence dont know what they have got etc! I was thinking of giving them, from my stash, a box of Lindor Chocolates and I have a few Miniture bottles of wine left from when I bought a load to do vodka so I could give them 2 of them and maybe a big bag of sensations? A type of movie night in hamper minus the movie as I dont know what they have already! Any ideas or thoughts woul be great as I am a bit stuck!:xmassmile**New** Thrifty Gifty Money Making for Christmas and all occasions 2012**:xmassmileMember No. 11 of Happy Chappy's Clip Strip Club!
