You have a nice afternoon Rufus. Keep warm.

It's been snowing here non stop for two days but we don't even have an inch yet. It's that powdery stuff! Not proper snow! LOL

Just off out to get supplies, we've no bread in, and my Marmalade tins have arrived so I need to get sugar to make them up.

    Keep safe everyone.

How about a quick vistaprint order and do him a calendar of your DS to hang over his desk? Mary would say a pint of socks. Something small in a cracker? Fill a jar with his favourite sweets. Flavoured vodka (only takes a week). Homemade fudge. etc. last year I made my step dad some alternative after eights. Melt a bar of dark choc, add a tube of crushed extra strong mints (better put them in a blender until powder, not bash them with a rolling pin, like I did, bits were going everywhere. LOL. spread out on a tray until cooled, put in fridge so it gets so cold it's brittle, and then the fun bit, bash it into bitesize chunks. Everyone loved it!

If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Great ideas there, thanks! I've already got him a vistaprint calendar, but I got it months ago and forgot, so thanks for reminding me! Got to find it now, I'm sure I put it somewhere really safe......

The alternative after eights sound gorgeous! After eights are DH's favourites so this would be perfect for him, I'll definitely try that :D

Was like OMG Im going to get stuck......... Dropped wee one off, picked up mum and I had to reverse all the way back out my mums scheme........... I am the woman, and it was a MAN that got stuck :rotfl:

So I patted my wee car for all her efforts :)

Last years was a last minute thing. The only elf I could find had a stuffed body but wooden legs - he was meant to stand on a shelf. DD loved him and his antics so much his leg fell off. :rotfl:This year with DD being almost 8, might be our last year I can get away with it, so I ordered mine from America. Dooyoo paid for him not me. ;) You will definately have to do it next year. Your DD will be the perfect age then. :D The tricks he gets up to - I think it's more fun for me than her. She absolutely loves every single minute of it and I do too.

I will do it next year, but it will have to be pink elf of some sorts, when I was out in Poundstretcher, and it was nice and I nearly bought it so I could start it, I would rather do it next year and have it all planned. :T

    Hello all :j

Nickybo.......sounds like you're all sorted with pressie ideas...........I wasn;t going to say 'pint of socks' elysia................lol Was going to suggest a tin filled with his favourite sweets (though not quite full, add to it some jokes and quotes and stick label on it saying 'pick 'n mix' and it's pot luck whether he gets a sweet/choccy, a quote or a really daft joke...........lol Did it for my son the other year -while he was reading the quotes and stuff his girlfriend ate all the sweets.............lol

toothfairy -hope you feel better soon...........horrible time of the year to feel ''out of sorts'' like that -(((hugs)))

I'm holding back on parcels now till next week (least thats what OH suggests......think its because he'll be the one carrying them to the post office..........lol)
Snow last night and it hasn't stopped all day !!
Ordered bracelets for twins 18th -can't see me getting into town to pick anything out and they were cheap enough, plus free delivery but amazon were giving out warnings about possible delays with deliveries due to the weather. Oh well, if all else fails we'll have christmas when I come our of hibernation in the spring.................lol

College is closed now till next week so our lads been hovering about all the time.......all I've done is cover a few pegs in the hope of making a ''memo'' board..........found a smallish piece of card and if i cover it, make holes in for it to hang up and stick pegs on -job done............:) (she says, hopefully)
Had free bottle off 'freebie board' -nice one with red and gold lid..........lends itself to being filled with red and gold wrapped choccys I think...........then neighbour came round with a little hexangonal shaped perspex box that;s just crying out to be covered...............oh the joy of paper and glue........:rotfl:

hope you're all ok and keeping warm. :)
(no nose bleeds today -fingers crossed.........lol)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Hello all...
Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to you all for your words and well wishes. To be honest I dont feel much better but I have made an appointment to see my GP next Tues evening. DH has been a love and keeps giving me hugs throughout the day. However I made myself get up out of bed (didnt want to!) and have finished 2 monkeys (1 of which needs eyes that I need to go and get at some point - need pink ones!). Here is a pic of the finished one which is for a friend (she asked me to make one for her DD).

Other than that just been trying to relax today. We have a bit of snow here in London....DH & DD went out in it and checked on elderly neighbours to see if they needed anything (which luckily they did.....and they tried to give DH money for it but he wasnt having any of it).

    Much love Lis xxx

  • HELP!
Not sure where to post this so as this is all occasions.
A friend needs a thankyou present.
I made her a nappy cake for her new daughter and she wants something similar for her mother to say thanks for helping her out. She does not do smellies. Loves chocolate and coffee so I suggested a choccy explosion bouquet thingy but she liked the cake idea. Any ideas on what to include.....I thought it seems a bit silly to do it in towels as there will be no smellies.
I do have a lrge cheap fleece throw from ASDA that I got for £2!!! Might use that as a base but she would like it to have a couple of layers!!!! Help.
