    Hello all :j
Watched the Edwardian farm on tele the other night and it was their Christmas.........nothing very grand but the farmhouse was just decorated with greenery and a good beef hotpot type dinner, home made wine and to be honest it all looked really lovely.
Afraid our greenery is plastic (bargain from charity shop few years back) and artificial tree (hoping the lights work !!) and the fabric hearts and trees I've made for the dresser. Fairly basic, few plastic wreaths as well and some scented candles.

Now someone kick my bum and tell be to wrap up all this ''stuff'' I've done and don't let me do anything else till I have............i'm c**p at organising myself.

Hope you're all ok and keeping warm and safe:)

Doesn't matter if its basic, home made and plastic (and reuseable!!)or over the top and collected yearly from the headgerows or covered in gold leaf . It matters that its yours, and makes you happy - and frankly that is all Christmas should do.

Right - consider this a kick up ur bum!!!! Get wrapping - I am gonna do mine next week when I finally get my sicklies back to school!

Mary - DO SOME WRAPPING! lol

Well I finally feel better after catching DS's bug! OH had it after me on Monday night so we had a sicky weekend and beginning to the week!
Just made my last Vistaprint orders and did it with a link from Facebook! Calendars were free just pay postage so got a free t-shirt, 10 Christmas cards and calendar for £4.78! Worked out cheaper than going through TCB or Quidco! Although dont know when they will arrive as they did state the adverse weather conditions were causing delays!
Made a list today and just have to print tags and cello up and wrap then its down to the baking! Shortbrad, mince pies, fudge and chocolate slabs! Will start next week I think!
Rain here but very cold so expect icy conditions tomorrow! I am dreading the heating bill after Christmas! ARGH!!!

Mary doesnt matter about decorations its about the spirit of Christmas! I have multi-coloured paper chains hanging from the ceiling that I made with DS! My very strict colour theme of Blue and Silver has gone to pot since having DS as we have every cuddly toy or animated singing christmas charcter going scattered around! Although the majority of the tree is still themed, apart from kinder santa chocs!

I am so happy I am done and do not have to brave this weather or the shops over the next few weeks! Just the food stuff to do now! Thank you ever so much guys if I hadnt stumbled across this thread I wouldnt be able to sit here and gloat! xx

  • I just burnt my mouth on a mince pie... Ouch!
  • Hi everyone......Thanks for the comments on my monkey.......2 more monkeys done today. Only 8 to go. Feel like crap but am determined to get them done! Had argument with DD this eve.....she is being a pain in the bum!! Arghhh
Did plan to start some wrapping this afternoon but was overcome with tiredness so had a lie down instead!
Need more stuffing and buttons for monkeys........having a real prob finding places to buy buttons.....nowhere sells them!! Had a look on ebay so might get them from there......unless anyone has any suggestions.

Re- Xmas decs......It truly doesnt matter what it looks like so long as it gives you pleasure to look at. We changed our decs last year.....we now have a cream & gold theme. I dont do the hanging from the ceiling malarkey as I just dont like it!!! DD & DH want decs everywhere but I just like the tree and a few bits of tinsel here and there.

Might try venturing out tomorrow to get more stuffing.......see how I feel.

    Lis xx
Never buys anything at full price unless completely forced to do so!!!
  • I've only just caught up with this & the sister thread as I'm pretty new. Not sure I've totally 'got it' yet - I'm a bit slow nowadays :o but I like what I've seen & read. How do I go about joining in - for 2011 now I suppose?

DS and I have put the tree up, we have had a lovely day - kids had an inset day (pre-planned, nothing to do with the snow!) we have pretty much had a PJ day, both kids are full of cold, DD on antibiotics so hopefully they will kick in soon enough. We have watched Muppets Christmas Carol, done some cleaning and tidying up, watched Polar Express and then put the tree up. It looks great. I had the Christmas music channel on this evening whilst writing a few cards and doing a bit of online shopping - I love it, order it using a cashback site and just sit back and wait for it to arrive! The only thing I need to do now is finish my wrapping, write the rest of the cards (which I will be able to do tomorrow) and the baking, which I can do in Christmas week as I break up before the kids yippee!!!

    Hi Well Preserved

You can join in now and just read the posts then start proper in January.

Or else go back a few pages to Nov 24th and find mum2one's special Santa challenges for November/Dec as well as the one for December/Jan which she has set us early. Each month we have a list of different things to do, cleaning the house, treats for ourselves, and seasonal organising.
  • Ok thanks Anglea - I'll have a look at the second option. If there's no work next week because of the weather I might have time to clean ;)

Take a look at this year round organising website with a difference, never seen anything like it when I read the challenges, like a mix of Rudolph Club and The Artists Way.

I really liked these jars - feel like making one for myself!
