yeay - got a letter today when dd came out of school saying the school will be shut tomorrow - thank heavens for that - I have to be the worst person in the world for driving or being driven in the snow. I refuse to drive our car - it's new and my husbands pride and joy so I will not be the one to skid in it. So my dad knows how nervous I am so he has been doing all the driving and some of the pick ups, so I'm glad he will get a day off tomorrow. My dd (who is 5) was talking about our family and she said 'mam you don't need you mam and dad any more do you?' I had to answer ' my mam might not be here any more but I 'definitely' still need my dad' bless her, she comes out with some funny stuff - and my dad is fab - couldn't manage without him.
So tomorrow - hibernating and christmas crafts on the agenda - yahoo xx

    Evening all

I second esmer, cdsmiler dd is probably fine if keeping fluids down and no temp, my ds (2 1/2) had a tummy bug 5 times in last three weeks of nov, eek! I eventually took to doc and he said if he has two things wrong (high temp, not keeping anything down for over 24 hours, not able to rouse, rash etc) to bring in otherwise dont worry. Fingers crossed he's ok now, been clear for three days!

Realtoothfairy - I suffer with depression to and am at the point where docs want to increase my tablets, i'm holding off though as this is very bad time for me (ended up in hospital over christmas, last year, chest pains. Doc thinks it was all mentally brought on!) and i'm due to see counsellor next week for first time, so will leave it few weeks. Your definately doing the right thing going back to the docs thou, no-one knows we need help un less we pipe up, so to speak. If you ever need to talk, we are here, and if you'd like to pm me feel free. Can feel very isolating, not knowing people in the same situation. HUGS

Feeling quite sick, have just eaten 4 mince pies, nice thou, lol!

my mam always used to get the both of them - not sure why cos they're exactly the same!!!

They didn't used to be the same did they - Radio Times only had the BBC programes in and the TV Times was only for ITV and then Channel 4.

So you needed to have the 2 tv books because you didn't have a planner on the telly lol. Everyone has flat screen tvs now - when I was small we had 2 tvs in the lounge - not because we were rich - far from it, it was because the sound had gone on one so you watched the picture on that and had to have the sound on an old black and white tv whose tube had gone! We didn't have the money for a new tv, and we didn't have it on at all if Mom was short of 50 pence pieces for the meter.

When hubby and I first had sky we used to get TV Satelite Weekly and he used to sit with his highlighter pen picking the weeks viewing out. lol. Now he justs sets it all up on the box and it records all the programmes - how far have we come in 20 odd years?

Glad I'm not the only one who remembers when they were seperate Tv listings........
Love the 2 tv's story........ like as a kid we were lucky to have b/w portable in the bedroom, think was about 11 b4 I had a tv in my room, then you had to move the dial to get the TV channel to change... x

Theres dd with flat screen tv ( 15in) but she brought it out of her xmas money 2 yrs ago, and dvd player - when you say black and white tvs.... they look at you as thou you have landed from an alien planet!! xx

Esmer - I personally wouldn't mix foodie with smellies. Are you doing both? Perhaps it would be better to packaged them up separately. :)

Toothfairy - Is it a seasonal thing? I have SAD. My lamp helps, but it can't perform miracles. I hope you can get an appoitment ASAP, there are lots of different things you can try. I hope the fog lifts soon. Thinking of you.

ETA: I just realised, OMG I'm a wreck. With SAD, tinitis, stomach cramps and PMT - I must be a nightmare to live with. :D:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Def agree re splitting smellies from food.

Toothfairy - hope everything goes ok with doc, maybe they might change the mediciation, sometimes ur body gets immue to the stuff. Without sounding daft, with depression its an illness that can't be seen, and hits at different times and ways. My mum suffered with depression, still does, but she has up and down days and different times of the year its harder for her, she lost her 1st daughter of cancer at 18mths old, (Miss Hoodie named after her, I asked 1st would she mind, wasn't sure whether it was the right thing to do), and even thou she had me 2 yrs later, mothers day etc, sisters bday still hard. She always tells me when I was 7 (I don't remember) that I flushed all her anti-depressants down the toilet..... apparently we were about 5 miles from Rhyl (this was the holiday hotspot of the 1970s.........) and she hadn't got her mediciation and we had to drive back to get it. Thou I followed the depression route and sometimes tablets, other times cope, good days, bad days, - and huge credit cards bills......
Never mind we're get there eventually.

Elysia - You should meet my Aunt - she has had every illness top to bottom, inside and outside - my Uncle runs around and does everything for her, we always use to joke that when she went on holiday she would have 1 suitcase for her clothes and one for tablets - she has every over the counter remedy there is. Thou bless her, we shouldn't laugh - she did hurt herself, she fell on a grape in a supermarket - (she's now sueing,) and asked me to fill in the solictors accident form, it asked for a drawing.... theres me trying to draw a stick person pushing a trolley and skidding on a grape, sure Miss hoodie could have done better.

I pulled a lovely stunt today at the PTA, feel a bit mean, but thats not the point, I do all the writing and ringing around begging for prizes for xmas draw, and ended up using 50 1st class stamps. (wrote 25 companies, put self stamped address in - politeness and hope they give us a prize) Last yr I put the receipt in, this yr, I was 50/50 whether to as the funds are rather zero.......... So I said I'd book two table for the xmas fayre - more table top sale, this snotty woman said you do realise its £5 per table, so we need £10 from you...... I piped up no problem, can you bear with me as don't have my purse, but I'll bring the £10 in 2mor, along with the receipt for the stamps used, and petrol running around collecting the prizes. This one mum let out a squeal and nearly fell off the bench..(we were sat on kids benches). we thought oh heck she's having some type of fit...... and rushed to her, as the "woman who asked for the £10" got up off the bench it tipped and the woman who squealed was now on the floor, in hysterics of laughter..... she piped up how the heck did you say that keeping such a straight face...... once they'd got her back up, the woman said - oh em er I didn't realise you paid for the stamps, thats no prob at all - have the tables for free!
(The stamps were very mse - freebies from Post office - doing the postings).

but i'm now covering the sewing club..... my friend does it, and shes cracked a tooth, the only time b4 xmas the dentist can get her in is when shes due to do sewing club, so I said I'd cover for her (CRB checked) luckly the kids know what there doing......

The rest of this week seem to be in school every day for one thing and another, hoping to go to a frost fair one of the days at weekend, then its Christmas cards,
Mon - Tues - Assisgnment for Open Uni
Wed-Fri - Be wrapping Xmas presents

Then the best bit - Iceland shopping, very sad but when I do my xmas treats at Iceland - Christmas falls into place, xx

mum2one, you always have an adventure where you go LOL good thing you are assertive because it seems like you have a lot of standing up to do for yourself.

I've got a contact at the stamp auctions for cheap stamps if you need them - the downside is you have to get about 10 or 20 pounds worth
(forgotten now) and they tend to be strange combinations (eg loads of 1p's) so a lot of licking needed :)

The weird thing is I use to be so quiet, only really after being on crutches, that I became assertive - or as daddy darling!! says a pain in the rear!!!

Def give you shout re stamps, - they do say licking stamps burns calories..... !! xx

    Morning All

Had a pretty productive day off work yesterday, kids were off school with the snow, so went sledging, had a snowball fight and made a snowman. Got home and put the christmas tree and decorations up so feels all christmassy now. Still not done any cards or anymore wrapping but still feels more christmassy :D than last week.

Glad everyone is ok or feeling better from bugs etc...

I'm back in work today, not sure if the kids are in yet, but the schools near by are shut so presuming they will be off but you never know will have to wait and see.

Take care in the snow everyone and have fun!
