CDsmiler - I hope your DD feels better soon, hopefully it's a quick acting bug and she'll be over it soon. How do you feel now?

Esmer - I love the advent tree, it looks so effective! I'd love to make something like that for next year.

We're off to play in the snow again in a bit. It was too cold to stay out for long earlier, so we decided to do a lot of unpacking and clearing out of boxes. We moved over a month ago but had barely started to unpack! We've got loads done and it feels nice to have been so productive :)

Tonight I'm going to start making some cards. I decided I wasn't going to make any Christmas cards this year but I've changed my mind, sort of. I'm going to make cards just for my class. Normally school buys cards for the kids and we just write them for our class, but the person who usually orders them forgot this year. We've been told we can get our own and we'll be reimbursed, but I thikn I'd rather make them. I got some really girly Christmas backing paper (bright pinks and greens) in a set I bought, and I was struggling for ways to use it as I prefer the traditional colours, but I think it will be perfect for the girls in my class. I'm not doing anything amazing with the cards, they'll be very similar just with different backing papers I think. I've got a lovely snowman stamp that I will use and add a bit of sparkle to. I'm pondering whether to heat emboss each child's name to their card to make it a bit more personal.

I have finally found my camera charger (thanks to all the unpacking!) so I can start taking pictures of the things I've made :)

Hope everyone is having fun in the snow!

my mam always used to get the both of them - not sure why cos they're exactly the same!!!

They didn't used to be the same did they - Radio Times only had the BBC programes in and the TV Times was only for ITV and then Channel 4.

So you needed to have the 2 tv books because you didn't have a planner on the telly lol. Everyone has flat screen tvs now - when I was small we had 2 tvs in the lounge - not because we were rich - far from it, it was because the sound had gone on one so you watched the picture on that and had to have the sound on an old black and white tv whose tube had gone! We didn't have the money for a new tv, and we didn't have it on at all if Mom was short of 50 pence pieces for the meter.

When hubby and I first had sky we used to get TV Satelite Weekly and he used to sit with his highlighter pen picking the weeks viewing out. lol. Now he justs sets it all up on the box and it records all the programmes - how far have we come in 20 odd years?

NORAD Tracks Santa is now live!! http://www.noradsanta.org/en/countdown.html

NickyBo - I'm feeling absolutely fine now, as if it didn't happen! So hopefully she'll be fine soon too.

diddly - I'll be doing that with the Radio Times though, it's only of my big Christmas build up traditions! I shall be sat there with a pen circling the stuff we'll DEFINITELY watch (Sky + that means!), question mark things we might be interested in, and put an exclamation mark next to things they're reshowing (normally films!) that I've seen 100s of times before but if I'm not doing anything else could put on in the background! lol <Stands up> My name is Clare and I'm a Christmas Radio Times a holic!

Afternoon ladies, my dd has not got out her jammies all day, she is nearly 3 and when I asked, she just said NOPE mummy, will keep my jammies on, not going out. ITs not stopped snowing here ALL day, so we had a wee crafty day............ made some pictures of snowmen and a wreath, :) Also made a big pot of mince with carrots and turnip, and a big pot of tomato sauce for pasta. Now going to clean up my kitchen, and get a cuppa before I sort dinner.

What a day - up a 5am to attempt to get to work - got there and the sky opend up with snow for the next 4hrs - was allowed to leave early and took another 2hrs to get home to bright sun. The snow must have followed me home as then it dumped a load more again after I cleared my car and path!

Very grey sky looking full. So tired now...dreading tomorrow's journey. This week has been so hard with mega long journeys to work.

Can't really think about Christmas atm - feel too tired by far. Can't wait for the weekend now. Mind you I'm trialling a nigella cake at work on Friday to say goodbye to a colleague

Well our school was one of the only ones in our area open today, so had 3 journeys there and back with DS and DD! Had to nip to Mr A to see if they had any wellies in for DS as his old ones which I thought were an 11 (he is now a 13 goin on a 1) were actually a 10 - no wonder he told me at the weekend that they hurt his feet a bit lol! Got him a size 2 so room for thermal socks etc, also treated myself to a new pair - got to the til and his were only £2, thought they were £9 so a right bargain! DD absolutely full of cold, coughing her guts up so got to take her to the doctor. Haven't really had a Christmassy day today, got the cards out ready to be written (hand delivered ones - the others are all stamped ready to go) and done a few ebay listings, got loads still to list. Also sorted out my wardrobe, so one job done. Made a lovely big stew in the slow cooker too for when OH gets in, just got to make some dumplings to go with it!
Have told the kids that on Friday when they have an inset day we are going to be cleaning and tidying ready for putting up the decorations, think they may actually help too!! If not, they can have a PJ day watching the Christmas channel all day whilst I clean round them, then we are going to put the tree up whilst they are in bed (so I can hang and hide the chocs!!!)
DD now wants to sit and snuggle so better sign off, as she won't want me when her dad gets home!

    Hello all :j

esmer -love the advent calendar and the wreath and snowman picture:T

mum2one - I got the idea of a kitchen organiser from someone over on the Crafting fof Christmas thread (think that was the one). Hers are much nicer than mine...........mine are just a place mat with two holes punched in the top that I covered with paper, add shopping list book thats covered with pretty paper, printed off calendar and stuck that on and put post it notes on. Then I cover a peg and a pen...........stick the peg at the bottom edge of the placemat and pop the pen in it..........thread some sort of cord through the holes and thats about it.
That's what i've been doing today............lol Can do that sat at the table near the radiator.............lol:rotfl:

More snow last night...........more today and more forecast for tonight. No milk to be had in town at all apart from goats milk so OH settled for that. Waiting for bread to run out next...............lol Still, we've got bread maker so thats not such a problem.
Was going to get OH to post stuff off today but not even sure if they'd just get stuck somewhere so holding back on that.
Oh why isn't christmas in July when we don't have this worry..............;)

On top of that.......bent down to sweep up the mess I'd made doing kitchen organiser and nose started bleeding  Not a lot thank goodness and it's stopped now (touches wood -hoping it don't start again..........lol)

    Keep warm all of you:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Mary - try and stay upright today, no bending over!!! I hope your nosebleed doesn't start again. You had problems with that over the summer didn't you?

Esmer - I love the wreath you and DD made! I don't blame her staying in her pj's today. I didn't get dressed until 12. ;)

Isn't it lovely when all the winter food comes out. A couple of you have stew for tea, yesterday we had chilli and today sausage casserole. Nice and warming.
