Hope you are all well and coping with the snow if you have it. We havent had much settle here in London.

Sorry you are feeling down. Might be just the thought of stuffing 12 monkeys lol, I think it would get me going too. Well done on getting all the bits sewn up anyway. What I do when doing my dolls etc is I put all the bits in a basket then in the evenings when I am watching tele I sit and stuff a bit at a time until they are all stuffed, then the next night I might sit and start sewing them together. Make sure you have something comfortable to use to push the stuffing down inside the small bits as it might start to hurt your fingers if you havent got something to do it with. I used a thick knitting needle and put some stuffing over the knob bit and then wrapped a plastic bag over it and put a rubber band round to keep it on. You could use a chop stick or something.
Hope you feel a bit better soon, Rufus xx0 -
our tree is far to large for our new lounge - and it has left me feeling so disappointed and deflated!
So I had a firm word with myself in the kitchen whilst making tea - christmas isn't made by having a big tree!!! Its about the love you give one another, and the care you take of eachother. Not trees, not tinsel and not presents or money spent (tho I have spent a fair whack this year!!)
So I have decided not to mope and moan - we have a tree - 4ft, in the window as it is the only place I can fit one without it being in the way or too far from a socket. But we also have eachother, we are healthy, warm, fed and to all intents and purposes happy. My girls (11 and 8) are happy with the tree so why can't I be!
Well said. You ought to be very proud of yourself. I think we put too much pressure on ourselves to make everything perfect. When the kids grow up, they won't be saying do you remember the 4ft tree, they'll be remembering the magic, and being together. You are a wonderful mum, a christmas tree doesn't change that!
I hope you feel a bit better today.I :heartpuls M.S.E.

You've done a brilliant job, making all of those. I keep putting mine off, and I only need to do three. Don't worry about doing them all, just concentrate on the first one. Post a pic so we can see please.
You'll find that you'll be more inclined to finish the rest. They all have different characters even though they are made the same. It will be lovely seeing them 'come to life'.
When I choose a teddy bear, I choose the one with the nicest smiliest face, even though they're supposedly the same. Anyone else do this too?

Happy 1st December everyone.
Esmer your advent stockings are fab. You'll be finding bits of glitter for months now.
Rufus - Have a safe trip into town. Has OH got a flask? perhaps he could fill it up before he leaves work incase he gets stuck again.
Scattymam - the prices of the games will soon come down when the novelty factor of it being the 'in' thing has worn off. Don't let it put you off buying if that's what you want.I :heartpuls M.S.E.

Hi everyone
elysia - I do exactly that! Even though all the soft toys are meant to have the same face I always choose the one that "looks the nicest!"
mum2one - glad to hear you're all sorted and the family have had a crash course in how to revive you! Hopefully they won't need to though
Sounds like everyone is really far on with their preparations. I was looking at my list last night and still have a few things to get, although I do know what they are so no wandering around the shops aimlessly. I just can't motivate myself to go anywhere in this weather. Not much snow at all in London but it's still freezing cold and miserable. I have been walking the dog at lightning speed the past few nights!
I am waiting for my Valued Opinions money to come through and I'm going to change my nectar points into Amazon vouchers so I can get a few more bits off there too.
Hope everyone is keeping warm. I hate snow

No work for me today, I had a text at 6 o'clock this morning to say the school was closed today so not to go in
. I went back to bed and we all slept until 9:10, even DS! He was meant to be at nursery at 9 o'clock so we phoned and said he wouldn't be going as our work ahd been cancelled so we are having a family day. I'm just having a nice warm drink now before we get wrapped up and go and play in the snow.
Last night I made the Christmas chutney and a spiced courgette chutney. They are both for my Dad, so now he has 4 different ones I've made. I feel like I'm getting on top of it now

That's lovely Nicky. I like the sound of the Christmas chutney. I've got marmalade to do before Christmas, so I put the chutney on my list for next year.
Have a lovely day today and wrap up warm.
Cookiecrumbs - I'm glad i'm not the only one.
some people look at me like I'm going mad.
It's snowing here today (and sticking  ), I must go out but I agree, it's too cold.

Hi all
Esmer I love the unusual advent tree how nice that Dad is helping you.
I also love reading all your posts, it's a comforting feeling.
Toothfairy, I'm not surprised you feel a bit down after all your work on those monkeys. I used to feel like that when I was making hand made Christmas bits around this time of year, it can seem overwhelming as there is so much more to do of everything. Rufus I like your ideas of covering the stick for wadding.
mum2one, thanks for telling me about your brandy sauce experience. I think I'll try one of those. Crikey when I think about all the alcohol in your cake then Bailey knocking your elbow last year, you must all have been a bit tipsy to say the least!
I don't think I've ever come across anyone as generous as you mum, giving pressies to everyone as you do.
I was going to get some more bits today but have got a very bad 'hair day' :rotfl:so think it's an opportunity to give myself a trim and dye - I do it myself at home.
Look forward to reading about your day everyone.0 -
Well I have sorted 4 cupboards and 3 drawers so getting there slowly,
snow has caused such a mess here ds1 school closed at 12,ds 3 picked up from nursery at 12 so while I was at school picked up ds2 glad I did it closed at 1, good job I was home.
Meant to be at thetre with school tomorrow not sure it will happen if bus cant get through.
I am going to update next calendar later so that's ready to put up.
I love the advent tree its brilliant I'm starting to learn to sew and make cards so keep the ideas coming lol.
Hope the snows not to bad for everyone

my mam always used to get the both of them - not sure why cos they're exactly the same!!!
Ooo no, I don't get the 'other' one. Split loyalties!!
hehe
I fancy the xbox kinect thing too but think we'll have to wait until next Christmas.
Angela - I do that too with the 'Thanks' and 'Quote' buttons! lol
diddly - you are SO right. Good for you for having a firm word with yourself!
esmer - lovely advent tree!!
mum2one - chocoaltes and vodka - that's just wishful thinking!! lol
Real Toothfairy - hope you're feeling a bit better today.
elysia - I do that with teddies too!
Well drama last night! DD well and truely got the bug I'd had during the day - big throwing up session all over her bed! Bless her she didn't make any fuss, just looked a bit shocked - so shower, changed bed, warm clean jarmies, but she still couldn't keep anything down - gave her some water but it came straight back up. She was shattered though and went straight off to sleep. 2 1/2 hours later she woke, had a small bottle of warm water (safer than milk we thought!), kept it down and slept til this morning. She seems to be eating and drinking ok today but keeps falling off to sleep loads so my Mum says. Bless her. Obviously trying to sleep it off!
Hope you're all good!
