elysia - thanks for that. I'm thinking of getting one of the ones (with arms!) for my mum. She always used to sit with a blanket while watching TV and she's normally either knitting or on the laptop at the same time!

and cdsmiler - can't wait for the radio times too! do u get the other one too the tvtimes is it?!?!?
my mam always used to get the both of them - not sure why cos they're exactly the same!!!
My dad is taking dd to school in the morning (20min drive away) cos I still can't drive in this snow - the big roads are fine but the side roads are still bad and it's like a warren run to get out of our estate so I'm going to take ds out in his 4x4 buggy and have a trip to home bargains ( 5mins away from house) and stock up on paracetomols, rennies, toilet rolls etc for the challenge.
25 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

Hello all :j
Well, still snowing after a bit of a pause this morning. Was awful last night on one of the roads out of town.........loads of cars were stuck there for hours and hours:eek: Least today the local school was open so the main roads into town must have been cleared. OH was going to a days work tomorrow but where he goes its all down little windy country lanes........he'd never get there let alone get back:eek: So he'll be home for a bit and maybe brace the elements for the pub................lol
Got all my stuff wrapped for son in sussex and small parcel to send to Scotland (would it ever get there with this weather? ) Cards all stamped ready for posting.....just a few letters to write and pop in a few of them and I'm done as far as that goes.
OH got me some more paper today so i can do another kitchen organiser out of the remaining old placemat.........meant to do some pegs today and didn't get around to it..........too busy with brown paper and parcel tape.............lol:rotfl:
Hope you're all ok and keeping warm and safe. Been hugging my radiator..................lolI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I picked DD up from nursery early because we had blizzards, the main motorway got shut........ how does this happen. DD fell asleep on the couch about 330, and i tiled my kitchen :rotfl: I was in poundland today and they had these plastic tiles that you can cut with scissors, so I got 9 packs and I already had the adhesive in the house.
So it just cost me 9.00 to tile my kitchen.
And here is a photo of the blizzardsSaving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -
Hi everyone
Sugarspun, hope you are ok in that hotel.
xrestricted, I can empathise with you, I'm seeing that illness with 2 of the relatives, one close, and it's so wearing for all concerned. Sometimes their behaviour is beyond belief. I find I can deal with it easier than the others because a part of them are still in denial, so they get the unwell person into situations that turn out to be very difficult for everyone. I just keep quiet instead of giving my opinion because everyone is so stressed up that the slightest thing can set off World War 3.
I'm glad that you look forward to coming here and reading all the posts it's a good way to relax.
A couple of you have been posting on here early. It was nice to see you again Sarah, its good the children like their new school.
I don't know if this happens to the rest of you, but sometimes when I'm pressing the THANKS button I accidentally press quote. So I go back then find all my thanks have disappeared for the whole of the page. Annoying.
I bought some more food yesterday. I've always found it difficult to get brandy butter at the last moment and last year had to manage with only custard so thought of mum2one when I saw a carton of Birds brandy sauce. I've never had it before and am wondering what it tastes like in comparison to the clotted cream type of brandy butter?0 -

I just tried that and noticed that only Yuletide festivals came up not our thread. However, it 's only when you're on the reply box that Thriffy Grifty appears. Is this what you meant?0
