    Hi all

Elysia, hi, you asked why I wasn't posting a lot - I thought I was LOL

Today in the charity shop they had a load of Christmas cards, I bought a large 'mum' card, and a dear son, and 2 other son cards, the last 2 I don't plan to use but I really liked the pictures and wanted them for myself :). They were only 10p each :T And I was looking round the shops for possible present ideas, my family aren't the type you can buy anything for in advance for.

Hello Diddly - what a thoughtful person you are -present ideas - apart from those that have been suggested, how about making or buying a slab of chocolate and ice the name of the ward on the top. Or a retro sweetie bouquet. Or buy them some cakes they can eat in the staff room. Or make a pamper box of some kind.

Susan, you've got some brilliant wrapping ideas :T

Alwaysbusy - The Yorkshire Hamper - if you look at the very first STICKY at the top of the Special Occasions forum, they've got hundreds of hamper and gift ideas including regional ones.

Mary I loved reading your list.

Philthebear - cookery book. This is a book not a magazine in case of confusion over the title - Good Food Magazine 101 Christmas Dishes. Handy size. Very easy to read and understand, good colour photos.

    Hi all

Sugarspun, for someone new to the thread, that could sound as though you are about to give birth in 3 mins! :)

Legendmum, it is lovely talking about special occasions all year round on here, I know that a lot of people just don't get our excitement.

That gel sounds interesting, I'll note down the name - ta for that. The only remedy I've tried in the past is ice, or a teabag - bit mucky.

ditto to copying the name down, I usually use whisky when get toothache - just to numb the teeth........

Been organised and done Oct's freebie order from Vistaprint - hopefully the £5 will track this time. got pen - ready for uncle, bumper sticker for dad - precious cargo on baord - not the wife the dog!! and 10 xmas cards, a stamper ink thingies, all for £4.40 postage. xx

    - lovely idea to treat the nurses, I agree with Anglea about the cake- you could bake some yourself to make it more special (and cheaper! ;)) Or maybe a book with some nursing anecdotes that they could all dip into on their breaks?

    - my Yorkshire friend suggested - Yorkshire tea, Yorkshire biscuits, Wensleydale, Yorkshire chutney, Parkin, Brack, some locally made sweets or chocs and locally brewed ale/beer. Maybe you could get some Yorkshire themed mugs or a tea towel to put in too? Hope that helps!

Sorry about the looooong post, it is my first in a while though!!!:D

mrsow for your MIL have a look at the Evans Grabbit - if you use the code WELCOME02 you get £9 off and free delivery (if free del doesn't kick in add the code FREEDELIVERY). I just got my mother a scarf for £1 - and don't forget Quidco 8% :money:

Edit: Diddly, what about a magazine subscription so they could all read it on their breaks?
