    Hello all :j
mum2one - brilliant idea.........I really ought to have something like that particularly stating that I'm epileptic and what medication I'm on............thanks for that idea:T

sarah - my gardens not that good, honest.........its just full of 'stuff' for want of a better word...........still, we like it. Wish I had all that lovely garden stuff in it though and I wish it looked as tidy as that.

Well, all I seem to have done today is mess about with buttons and a swatch watch strap attempting to make some sort of bracelet............not sure I like it and even OH pulled a face............:( Might give up on that idea.

OH had rush of blood to the head and found a holiday advertised in our local paper.........coach picks up in our town (so many don't) and its for the Eden Project, Buckfast Abbey, hotel and nosh thrown in...........must have had bit of a turn myself cos I've been and booked it  There's us having a panic about OH not able to work and money and everything............then OH said if we don't do things while we've got the chance (still got some of mums money left) we'll never do them and with his being so ill end of last year, well -why not do these things while we can.

Now I'm getting all confused trying to find out time and costs of trains to go to my sons in a fortnight. Normally OH drives but what with cost of petrol and it being a long journey we thought we'd drive to one sons and stay overnight there then get train the rest of the way.
I've never been so baffled in my life

    (oops...........sorry I don't half go on.............lol:rotfl:)

Angela -= I was going to have a go at a flowerpot man............googled for instructions but in the end I bought one from a garden centre.............bit disappointed with myself for that.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Mary - OH is right! Do these things while you can! You'll like the Eden project - I went there the year before last!

Thanks for the idea Anglea and Sarah for the Emergency things. None of us take medication but DD2 is allergic to Penicillin. I could make a label to put in her coat and school bag etc.

    Hi girls,

Mary, what is it they say, a change is as good as a rest? Bet you'll have a great time and a change of scenery will get those creative little grey cells reactivated and I bet you'll get lots of inspiration from that trip for your hampers and scrapbooks.

Elysia - I have a couple of key ring holders (the type for cross stitch) and inside I've written that I'm allergic to penicillin. There are all sorts of bracelets, necklaces etc that you can buy especially for emergency info but I have found problems with all of them and find the key ring the easiest (and cheapest).

I like the sound of that garden competiton. Wonder what plans you have.

Back garden idea you asked about -one of my neighbours has dogs and they have all grass but in the corner is a very big decking structure with steps, pergola roof and very large pots (and table and chairs).

Flowerpot men - I was going to have a go initially at the small ones as I think the full sized heavy ones could be stressful if you make a mistake or drop them.

    Hi all

Clare, I'm collecting jam jars as I wanted to have a load in time for summer, jam etc. But I always use them for all sorts of things in the kitchen e.g. I weigh out in advance the flour, atora etc for making dumplings as well as the dry ingredients for crumble. Then use it for other dry things like currants, sugar, pasta, cous cous etc. So I've got a collection of empty jars round the kitchen and always finding a new use for them especially since reading all the organising threads. I seem to be getting quite obsessed with jars at the minute :)
    .

I like those ideas! Mother in law gave me a bag of jars to bring home with me! Think it was a hint for more jam... lol

mum2one - did you get your holiday booked in June? Loved the April fool joke by the way!

Hope everyone had a fab Easter! Weekend at the inlaws went really well and it was lovely not having to worry about food for a few days! lol

This thread is getting quiet - maybe the length of it is putting people off? Maybe a 'part 2' thread could be started now that Easter is done? Or maybe after Fathers day ready for the big Christmas build up?

Outdoor space? *puts fingers in ears and goes la la laaaaa* Our outdoor space is a nightmare, leave it at that. lol

Clare, there aren't many places where you could write about getting a bag of jars to take home with you and have people reading that with envy (me, LOL).

wow, I love all these ideas for challenges, but I can't really do them, I dont have a garden, at all!! we're back to back and then directly onto the pavement, althrough I suppose I could go next door (church and graveyard) and try and pretty it up LOL not sure how that would go down! And both me and OH aren't on any medication apart from me being asthmatic, and I have all these cards and things already! I suppose I could make a sign to carry around with me telling people im allergic to tomatos, as im sure people are trying to kill me off, in the last week I have ordered 3 different things and stated no tomatos, to find I have tomatos LOL good job I always check!! xx

I just realised that sounded bad about the graveyard, but its soooo old, I think the most recent grave is from beginning of 20th centuary so people don't go and visit the graves, its pretty creepy too, with all big trees covering it!

I'm up for the garden challenge as I have lots of seeds that need repotting now (first time growing from seed :o) I am going to the tip tomorrow to see if anyone has had a clear out of their gardens to get some pots and storage containers as I am going to use these to pot my seasonal flowers in my front garden as it is all gravel.
I want to somehow make a raised bed so the flowers can be seen behind my front wall. I live in a terraced house so the front garden isnt that big and isnt used for anything other than storing the unsightly bins!!

I know this is not a gardening thread but as you were chatting about it lol

I like the idea of the tippy pots or whatever you call them and would have been good for my mum but mothers day and her birthday are done now :(

That trip sounds fab. Love Buckfast Abbey, we go everytime when were down in Devon.
Quick tip, when we went they had closed the main cafe and where the coach drops you off there was a small building, reminded me of a church hall, the main restaurant (coffee stop), go past the shop, on the left theres a set of toilets infront of u is some gardens, on the left big building which was the main restaurant, the trifle is out of this world, they make it with Buckfast Abbey tonic wine (gd kick), and to the right is the Abbey, def worth a walk around.

The Buckfast Tonic wine, is made on the site by the monks, but up in Glasgow its the drink of the layabouts as its so potent!! Def worth getting half bottle as a treat.......thou most of the stuff in the shop, we joke that u need a 2nd mortgage to buy anything!!

Another thought, when you go across the moors, most coaches tend to stop at The Old Police station cafe or( Lords coffee shop ) in Princetown, the cakes and scones are fab, there home made, when or of you need the loos there a bit of a tight squeeze........ where it was one ladies he made it into 3 cubicles - bit narrow.

Not been down to the Eden Project, love togo.

With everything the pair of you have been thorough over the last 12 months this holiday will do you the world of good, you've both been theough the mill (excuse the expression), Mary you do everything for everyone else, and you need a bit of a treat. So go for it and enjoy yourself.

Elysia - My Garden is the same we have a 1 year old german shep and she has run it ragged LOL:rotfl: half the grass is missing and the plants we had she has chewed , so this year I'm concentrating on the yard (sounds a bit weird but we have a yard with a gate, then it opens onto the garden) and letting the kids and dog have the garden, we have dug the plants up and put them at the front, the yard is big enough to sit it so want it to look nice for the summer, then the kids can have all their toys etc in the garden.

Mary - The Holiday sounds Fab, you and OH deserve a break, and your garden sounds lovely, mine is just a patch of half worn grass LOL...:rotfl:

hlcarroll - Could you not have some hanging baskets or window pots?? If you wanted

PammyJ - We made some raised flower beds at the front using paving slabs, if you can dig into your gravel and can get the slabs in about 3" (depending on size), then we used some ready mixed concrete (Wilksinson thinks its about £5 a bag - Just add water and mix) to secure it at the bottom and the seams, filled it with compost and your away. HTH

Anyway, of to do some jobs at my mums today, had a lovely day yesterday, took the kids to see How to Train your Dragon in 3D (Very MSE using the Mycity £1 cinema tickets:j) and then went to Chiqitos for tea (Also MSE went on there 3 course lunch Menu at £9.95 each and the kids ate FREE:j) Back to work today though:(

    Take care Everyone
