    Afternoon everyone

Just having a lunch break, thought I would do some more rating on Dooyoo but the page isnt opening for some reason so came on here instead.

Have been busy with the sewing machine yesterday and this morning. Been making some scarves. Thought I would have a change from the patchwork for a few days. Got the inspiration originally from Jamtart's blog and also from the craft show I went to but have made them up my own way. I bought one of those big rolls of stockinette they sell for cleaning where you cut off as much as you need. I cant remember how long the roll was, might have been 15 metres. I measured my daughters fav scarf and cut a length of the stockinette then carefully cut down the two long sides so it would make two scarves.

I turned a sort of hem down each side which was quite easy as the fabric rolls to the back then sewed some lace strips down the scarf, just four bits spaced apart across the width. Then turned up a hem at the bottom and sewed on a strip of cream coloured pompoms across the ends.

The fabric feels really nice and hangs nicely for a scarf. I suppose you could decorate it whatever way you wanted. I might sew some buttons or beads on as well to make them look a bit more specail although they look nice as they are. Dont think its worth taking a pic as I dont think you would see the detail of the lace etc but may be you can imagine them.

I cut out the whole roll in these lengths am making about 10 scarves lol. Have enough for another two but not got a lot of sewing thread left in the right colour so will put them away for another day.

Will be giving one each to all the ladies in the family for extra pressie for Xams. Cost of the roll was about £6, lace I already had, sewing thread about £3 so quite MSE.

Off to finish the ends off of the last ones then I had better get cleared up as they make a bit of mess due to the small bits coming off when you cut them and I have trodden them round the house lol.

    Hello all :j
Welcome Killeila (have I spelt that right ???) to the mad gang...............lol

mum2one - just remembered what the seed thing was that OH thought up.........it was putting bird seed in a little seed size flower pot, (I found it best to wrap seed in cling film and then put it in the pot) then pop a little robin on the pot with some plastic holly (glue dots would stick that on) and it was 'Robin Redbreasts Christmas breakfast:j
    Hope that helps.

Well, I've done three more pages to scrapbook....at this rate it'll take me till christmas and nothing else will get done..........(well housework but then, does it ever........??:rotfl:)

    Hi Killielia, thanks and welcome!!

Well I have a busy few days - got mum coming over tomorrow to 'baby sit' while I have a good go at the floors and carpets in the house, then Tuesday evening we're out to see Hairspray and then off to visit famil Wednesday evening until Sunday! So I'm making th emost of today and relaxing a bit ready! Need to make list of all things we need to take with us though, as it's our first trip away with Bethan, but I'm weird in that I like writing lists! lol

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend.

    Hi everyone,

I suddenly got a brainwave about a couple of presents for Christmas. Dad who I never know what to buy and my son that lives in a group home - I normally give him money in emvelopes I collage and make a hamper but also like to give something else.

I started taking photos when I was out yesterday (took my son to a church fair and there happens to be a 'green man' on one of the pillars. Today at the relatives houses, I took more photos of everyone, and will continue throughout the year taking photos to suit Dad and son, then I plan to either scrapbook or else buy those nice albums that are already cut out and make an album up for each of them. I'm using single use cameras as I don't get on with digital as I can't upload it (long story) plus my other son keeps taking the digital camera with him and he lives away from home..

So hopefully, I will end up with some nice pressies. It could even do for son's birthday in January if I don't finish it in time for Xmas.

rufus - what colours are the scarves? Sounds like an ingenious idea.

Susan - I know what you mean about preferring to stop in. I love being home and going through my craft bits.

Sarah -did you make some things today with the children?

Hello Killelila :) hope you enjoy all the challenges and chat

CD - I loved the cake, I think it turned out really well

Nicky - thank for the link to that site

Mary - any ideas for a large size tub (similar shape to a gravy one - but bigger)?

Jane I hope you are feeling better

Elysia - what are you putting into that box you are covering?

Mum2one - have you got a list of possible projects now for you craft class? A lot of children like decorating unwanted cd's or re-using them..I think on the craft thread someone mentioned making handbags out of them.

I got a lovely bargain in Tesco today, a gorgeous pair of knee-high purple boots for £12 :D They were reduced and I'm sooooo pleased with them, I've wanted some purple boots for ages and hadn't seen any I liked but these are just right. They had loads of boots and shoes reduced in my Tesco so I definitely recommend having a look. It wasn't just winter stuff either, lots o summery shoes were reduced too.

choco pot - different sorts of choc, drink/scented candle/chocs to eat

DIY pot -small screwdrivers, packet nails/screws etc

Sewing tub -tape measure, needles, pins, cotton, scissors etc.

Emergency pot - sticky plasters, fuses, batteries, nail file scissors, cotton.........anything folk might run out of

Anglea - goodness me, I think you remembered nearly everyone then!

I hope your day went well too. I didn't get around to covering the box but it's a 6 x 6 inch square which is about one inch deep. I have no ideas what to put in it yet. Mary is really converting me - I also saved a gravy tub and one of birds custard! :rotfl:

Thanks for the above tips Mary. :j
