Mary - you've converted me!!!
I actually saved a box I'd finished with today, to cover with paper and put a gift inside. I might even do it now while I'm inspired!I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

mum2one - you ought to give it a go.............really it's a bit like a photo album with bits added...........it's only me fussing and not being able to decide which photo goes where that takes the time I'm sure............:)
I've now added a new talent to my (limited craft ability), I have done a memo peg, inspired from you.
If anyone has simple ideas for crafting could you let me know, I have sort of got voluntered to do some crafting with the children at dds school as an after school club....
Was going to help another parent with her art class, so she's got a 2nd adult there, but when the other parent told the head the brilliant crafts I'd done with her daughter, he thought I'd be wasted with art class.
All I did was my memo box, the magnet peg, and split a 4 pack of sticky notes onto glitter card and card that was decorated in wrapping paper..
Help needed.
Mary - was it ur hubby that did the seed thing for the birds for winter, I can vagely remember that off the other thread. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Keep an eye on your emails as I've had an offer from half cost free deleivery if I spend over £25.00, normally £50 spend.
Whether its because I use more than one email address, (depends whos paying), and haven't ordered under mine for a while.
Will have a look. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

What age are the children? I seem to remember your DD is around 7, is that right? I teach 7-9 year olds and also run the art and craft club so I have lots of easy but effective ideas
This site has tons of fantastic ideas - http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/
Some links to specific crafts I've done with the kids:
*Handprint poems - so easy! Kids just draw around their hand and cut out lots of coloured handprints that they stick around a piece of paper in a frame. On the paper is a poem (from website) or the children could write it out themselves. I then paint their hand and do another handprint at the bottom of the poem.
http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/handprint_poems.htm
* Lolly stick photoframes - http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/hanging_photo_frame.htm
* Monster crafts - http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/monster_crafts.htm
All sorts: felt toys, wooden spoon puppets etc.
* Mask - http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/masqeurade_mask.htm
Some ideas just from my head now!
* Cress heads - Each child needs a container of some sort (I use yoghurt pots). They decorate the pot so it looks like a monster. We stick on big googly eyes, a little pompom nose and make card hands and feet. Then they fill the pot with cotton wool and sprinkle on some cress seeds and a little bit of water.
* Paper mache - depends how brave you are feeling as it's messy! We paper mache half of a balloon and then use it to make masks from. Not done this for a while as it takes quite a few sessions as you need to leave it to dry before cutting and painting.
* Felt bookmarks - Cut bookmark shapes out of different coloured felt. Children can then add detail by sewing. They can either just sew a border or they could cut out other pieces of felt and sew them on, all depends on how much experience they've had at sewing
*Tissue paper collage - print some free colouring pages from the above website. Children need small squares of tissue or crepe paper and PVA glue. They simply scrunch the paper and dab it in the glue then fill up the colouring page. Looks surprisingly effective.
Hope that helps a bitMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Hello all :j
mum2one - anything I do has to be really easy -if I'm looking on a website I look at the kids craft section -figure if they can do it so can I.............lol (not always the case)
elysia - well done with the box..............:T Next you'll be hoarding pringles tubes and gravy tubs...........amazing what you can do with them.............lol
Nicky - that is a good site, packed with ideas:T
Not done much today except add some info to scrapbook pages (still only 3 done) Got bored so wrapped up sons box of birthday bits ready to post and mums friends nieces scrapbook -thats ready for the postman too so now I can't see my other desk for parcels and 'stuff'.............had every intention of re-organising stuff on one of my shelves............history files that are so heavy it would be easier to reach them on top of the cupboard...............oh well, maybe tomorrow..........;)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
