Thanks Rufus, for your help. Some great ideas there! I'll give it another go.

My sister designs and makes her own clothes but I'd rather do curtains and tiebacks, stuff for the house etc. In fact, I wanted to study interior design when DD1 was young but the classes were of an evening so I chose hairdressing as it was during the day while she was at school - not much difference is there?

Please accept my apologies Anglea! My mistake! I hope the effects of the tablets have worn off now, and that you are all better. Take care. xxx

    Hello all :j
You're all so busy I feel a bit guilty - haven't done much today except sort out some rubbish and wrap MIL's box of cards up ready to post next week.
Pleased to say desk is still tidy (makes a change for me) and I made a little start on our bedroom........hence 'rubbish' so I'm getting there........albeit a bit late.
Now I'm looking at the top of my cupboard in here thats so ful of 'stuff' I can hardly see whats on there:eek:
Think it needs a bit of a sort out to say the least.......;)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Hi all

Elysia - I read your request about the sewing book - it's possible that I have one like that and just looked around to see what it was like, and can't find it - (had a tidy up last week).

I had bought it for my DS because he decided to make himself a winter coat :D As he can't sew as such he called into a tailors and blagged a load of special patterns called formers I think. He also bought all the material. Whether he'll ever start it is another question.

I've seen a very easy way to make curtains without much sewing e.g. turn over the top edge then make brass eyelets along the width (at the top) then you can tie each eyelet to the pole with ribbon or material. Alternatively, get some cord and lash it to the pole going along the whole width of the curtain. Depending on what kind of curtain pole you've got, you can put that inside the turnover as well with certain fabrics.

Thanks for the tips Anglea and Rufus - you're both brilliant. :j

The reviews to the book were excellent, probably 50 x 5 star reviews and only a couple of 1, 2, and 3 stars. They basically were saying the book was good but not enough pictures of how to do things (which as a beginner i'll need). I'll think I'll get it anyway as it's £7.50 ish on Amazon and if it's no good I can flog it on ebay for a bit more! The price varies but some are listed for up to £20 on there. ;)

Yes, Dell should replace the laptop, but you could end up waiting months for that. If Tesco are offering then go for it! Tesco will probably take it up with Dell themselves and Dell will respond much quicker to a big company like Tesco.

My Mum has an Acer laptop which she bought from Comet just under a year ago - the power lead went yesterday, as it's still under guaranteee you'd expect them just to send a new one - but no! It'c got to go into be repaired instore and could take a minimum of three weeks and upto a maximum of eight. What is it with these companies nowadays?

OMG that is Crazy, when DS1s power lead went Toshiba just sent him a new one next day delivery by courier.

These big companies waste so much money on silly procedures it is unbelievable.
