I had a very strange episode just before I left the house today. Last night I dyed my hair and thought I'd better check none of the dye was left, so cleaned round my face, neck and chest with rosewater. Shock of life  red blotches all over. I think it's the pills I've been taking from the dentist for an abcess as earlier in the week I noticed some red spots.. Luckily it faded quite a bit :) once I went outside.

I hope you did a skin test Anglea. I urge you to do one every time even if it's a brand you always use, as a severe reaction could be very nasty!!!

I'm not trying to lecture you, if you used a salon, a good one would do a test too, as it's just not worth the risk.

So sorry - I don't like the sound of red blotches when you've just used dye. (I am a trained hairdresser by the way).

Firstly have to apologise didn't get chance to do the boxes this weekend for the photos, as Miss Hoodie had sicky bug.... off to gp after what fun!

    Do the instructions.

    NEED
    Empty box
Small version - use cup a soup box, cappicuno sachets size box (+ spare box - I used a cereal box)- just to cut up)

Large version - use cereal box (generally don't need 2 box as you should have enough cardboard on this one)

    Wrapping paper

    Glue, scissors,

    Instructions-

1.Got the box facing you, turn it so you have sideways on view, the edge at the front make a mark 10cm up from the bottom, the other side of that edge make a mark 15cm,
draw the two lines together diagonal effect

    2. Cut down the side of the box

    3. repeat on other side, so the front picture of the box will be lower than the back

    4. Front of the box, draw across the 2 x 10cm points, you now have a level edge

    5. repeat at back of box, but this will be the 15cm line.

    6. With the spare cardboard, useing your shaped box as a template, cut out four matching pieces, front, 10cm high, back and 2 sides, cut these again, so there slightly smaller than the actual box your using.

    6. Cover the box in wrapping paper, alowing an overlap for the inside and the bottom of the box, you may need to make a couple of small cuts in the paper to get it to fold in.

    7. with the spare wrapping paper, cover the spare pieces cut, making sure that one side is perfectly wrapped and the back has the stick down bits

    8. With these "inner bits", stick them inside of the box, with the good wrapping paper showing.
(by doing the inside strengthens the box)

    9. The bottom of the boc, I would do this on thebgger box (ie if you made a cereal box size), put your box on to the caardboard and allow 1cm extra all the way around

    10. This new shape cut two pieces same size, cover as before

    11. With these you stick the 2 messy sides together, so we just see the smooth side, then stick the box on to them.
Not needed on small box, strong enough to support itself

    12. Decoration - Front of box
It doesn't have to be decorated, but if you were using it as a mothers day prezzie for nanny, grandmas etc, you could cut out a pic of the children

If you have any of the gems from crafting, when Miss Hoodie and her friend made theirs they made a flower shape out of the gems

It can be as you like it.

Fillings - suggest smal memo one

I got a 20p notebook from Asda and covered the front with the matching paper that I had used in the box

    Added, pen, pencil,

    Thought great by the phone

    Fillings cereal box -
Maybe add writing pad and envelopes, (home bargains, pound shop)
    Notelets
    Pen
    Pencil

Sounds daft but the boxes are dual purposes, if you were doing a male version use mens paper, we did one last yr to see if I could remember the just of it (the original idea was a Blue Peter - heres one I made earlier - from the 70s!!) he uses his for storing bills and paperwork as they fit those size envelopes perfectly.

(I will get some photos sorted as dd wants to make another for other nanna) xx

Must say I can't take the credit for the peg idea, as a lovely lady on here made me some craft items,

    Peg-

Use a wooden peg, and line the front bit up with paper, (the bits you squeeeze and you can literally use cut offs from the memo box)

glue the paper to the front and back of the peg

If you have gem stones left from crafting, button, make a ribbon and stick that to the front,

You can stick magnet to the back (I brough batch 25 small magnets from ebay £1.40 free p+p) so can be used as a fridge memo peg

You can use memo block, use about 20 sheets, or the post it notes, don't use the whole block, use about 20 sheets

    COASTER

Cheap version - grab a couple of coasters from the pub

I'm not beilliant at crafting, so what I did

Cover the 1st side of the beer mat with wrapping paper, allow an overlap, for the reverse, cut a piece of wrapping paper, slightly smaller than the mat, but if you have craft scissors (or borrow the childens, or they can cut it - so it has a posh edge

Stick this to the back of the mat, hides the fold over of the paper.

Can use fridge magent on the back (again optional)

    Front of the mat-
Use a post it note, but glue the last one to the coaster, so the person can use one at a time

Put a photo of the children

Christmas time - can put a small Christmas calenders, usually pick them up for about 15p, WHSmith etc

There not posh ideas, and basic craftng skills only is needed, but to tart them up a bit, wrap them in cello wrap - instantly makes them look more expensive. xx

They are great ideas, the treetop one he would love but that is nowhere near me BUT we have a treetop park near us so that is an idea I think I might do. I think its about £25 and I know he would want to do that.

Paintballing is also a good idea but would be about £70 for just 2 people I think. I could ring and find out.

Also looking at airtix, which is in MK for a skydiving experience BUT its only 2 x 1minute sessions which is £55! A lot of money for little experience IMO.
There is also the snow dome in MK which is an idea too

But top of my list is the treetop one but I'll have to pay cash.
Thought of a silverstone experience as well which I can get him a voucher for £45 and he would have a choice of 4 things he could do.

So many choices now lol I really dont know which one to do :(:o

Pammy - I bought something of Buyagift.com and got a free paintballing session - Don't pin your hopes on it because the house is upside down at the moment, but if I can find it I'll gladly send it to you.
