Hello all :j
mum2one - great ideas.......:T
Did the coaster/calendar and coaster with post-it pad on last year and did a few pegs. Not had a go at the notebook holder though. Only used my empty cappacino boxes as gift boxes so far so that'll be my next little project. Maybe I could do one for foster daughter to keep her seed packets in ?I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Now send me my sissors back LOL:rotfl: I have been wondering where they have been going;)
I know!!! Couldn't believe how many pairs we'd got. I have a thing about scissors - I do crafting and get mine bunged up with sticky stuff, so was always buying a pack of 3 in Poundland. Plus, could never find a pair when I wanted one! I gave most of them away, but we still have about 20 pairs of assorted sizes in the house!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I'm not trying to lecture you, if you used a salon, a good one would do a test too, as it's just not worth the risk.
So sorry - I don't like the sound of red blotches when you've just used dye. (I am a trained hairdresser by the way).
Elysia - I probably wrote that wrong, it wasn't the dye that caused the problem but the pills I had - as the blotches started earlier in the week and made my skin hypersensitive so when I rubbed it on the Sunday, I was left with marks. I've hardly been able to eat all week as they've made my tongue all furry and there is a horrible taste all the time.
But thanks for your good advice.
Mum2One - thanks for the ideas. As it happens I've got an empty cereal box. And if I read about a spate of pub coaster burglaries, I'll know where to look
Rufus - well done on persisting and gettng your tickets.0 -

Thanks Sarah for the tip about the Twilight throw
Rufus - You've insipred me to get out my sewing machine again. Do you mind if I ask you something? On the mother's day thread there's lots of talking about a Catherine Kidston book called Sew. Do you have it? Do you think it would be good for a novice? I have made curtains and cushions before but only basic, just a matter of hemming really.
Sorry to bother you, but I don't know whether to risk it. It is half price on Amazon at £7.50, but I'd rather not waste the money if it's not suitable.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Elysia, sorry I dont really know anything about sewing books, I learnt to sew way back when I was about 6 or 7 lol. My Mum taught me and I made myself my first dress when I was in junior school (about 8 years old) and wore it to school lol. Other kids couldnt believe I had made it myself.
Why dont you have a look in your library for books, then you wont have to buy them and you might be able to scan a page or so if you find something youd like to make. Also search the net for free patterns and ideas, thats what I do. I have found patterns and ideas in the last week for things I want to make including bags, crayon wraps.rolls, phone cases, spectacle cases, tissue holders, pencil cases etc. All of these things are easy to make for beginners.
Also keep an eye out in the charity shops, they sometimes have books in there, I bought one on embroidery a little while ago. Also if you see anything going cheap like a make up bag or something you could get it and take it apart to see how its made up then make a pattern yourself by cutting round the edge of the pieces. I made my daughter a new school bag for christmas by measuring her favourite bag and cutting out a pattern on paper then cutting it all out of fabric and assembling it.
Hope this helps, pm me if you need any more help xx0 -
I know its not back to school time, but had an email from this company and the name tags jumped out
Company called - Back to school supplies-
http://www.able-labels.co.uk/products/Back-to-School-Supplies.asp?gclid
The 36 labels are £4.45ish, the delievery is £2.95, might be worth doubling up with another mum / friend and sharing the cost.

Was in town last week with dad, and Claires had got the 10 gifts for £3 offer on, spoke to the girl, she said we found some old stock, bagged them up, brought 3 bags, at the worst for bday presents for the party invities that come out of mid air, if the stuffs not good, I should get 3 presents out of it.
The 1st bag - bit hit and miss - yellow fishnet gloves stuff was about £25.00
2nd bag - the stuff was originally £30 - best bargian was a purse worth £8.00 gone up for nanny for xmas, a set of mini hairbands that the week b4 I'd paid £3
3rd bag - valued at £34.00 - but there was a gorgeouds watch worth £15.00 thats mine...
Our of pick and mix
managed 9 sets of presents, and dd had 4 new hairbands, so if you see the bags grab one xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
