  • I think I've misunderstood this challenge. Is it £100 on clothes for a year? Or a week?! Ok, my confession: I have bought this week: A beautiful black Coast dress (reduced to £40 from £135), a beautiful black Laura Ashley dress (reduced to £39 from £115) and a pair of purple patent shoes from Jones (reduced to £17.70 from £65) which I am "considering" returning.

The week before, I spent £6 (reduced!) on a dress from Tesco, £6 on a pair of wellies (I am including everything I wear except work shoes and tights) and £30 on a pair of Hunter welly boots from TK Maxx (too good to turn down!).

So that makes a grand spend of... are you sitting down?... £138.70! AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!

Hi. I am Blondie and I am addicted to shopping! Help!

Also, the terrible thing is that I have put loads of clothes back as I'm doing this challenge so I could have bought even more!

I've decided that this challenge is a bit like being on a diet. When you fall off the wagon and have a bit of a binge, it's still best to add everything up, face it and then start again. So there you have it. It's not even February and I have spent over my yearly budget.

So ladies, unless you throw me off the challenge, I'd (pretty please) like to carry on with it and try to neutralise my spend by ebaying some stuff at home. That's my motivation to actually do it!

Please, can I stay? Let's face it, I really need your help!

the camisole was £14.95 but was on sale at £5.95 and everywhere i looked they were at least £20 for a similar style so it was a good bargain.

Blonde ambtition - Stay with us.... : )

I totally agree. Its so hard and especially if you fall off the wagon.I dont know what Lula would say but personally I would start again with £100 budget and sperately try and make up the money you spent by ebaying old clothes.e.t.c - Its really hard though as Im the same.I thought I would be fine as I havent bought anything for ages but Im gradually losing weight and want a different style of clothes so Im looking at the sales which is a mistake in a way! but good in another way as its nicer clothes for bargain shop prices...! mind you charity shops are saving me loads of money at the moment .

thanks kerfuffle...you have convinced me! it is lovely though : ) and makes my cold not feel as bad today when you are wrapped up in a warm nice new coat : )

I found a suitcase full of things which didnt fit so Im going to go through it today and see what I can ebay and hopefully salvage some things to wear if I carry on the diet!

I admire those of you who havent broken into the £100. I hadnt bought anything for so long I thought I would be fine but its gone the other way as I need alot of things now!

  • I wasn't planning on buying any new clothes for a while - but feel really scruffy and OLD!!! So bought myself, 2 tops (2 for £8) and a scarf to jazz them up which I got a discount on with my student card!!! Total was £13.10!

  • Yes, it's really hard. Especially as I convince myself that it's best to buy things in the sale so that when I need a posh dress or whatever, I have it already in my wardrobe instead of having to buy it full price!

I pretty much make it a rule never to buy things at full price so hopefully I'll be okay for a month or two. Fingers crossed!

Good luck with the ebaying and diet Chuggingtongirl. I'm right there with you!

I have found it really hard the last couple of days, been on a few sites and found myself with 2 or 3 items in my basket, but keep looking at that zero total and not wanting to break it, so have managed to resist. Really need to go through my wardrobe and make use of what I've got - doesn't help that I live half between my house and OH's and can never remember which clothes are where - or go to put something on and find it's elsewhere!

Even though it's not clothing I have been in and looked at the same handbag FOUR times. I am still resisting though as I've just done a basic sewing machine course and when I came home I signed up for the altering clothes one so hopefully, in the long term, I can save money and change the clothes I have. I cannot afford this and a handbag. :D

  • Just found my receipt for the Laura Ashley dress and actually it was only £37, not £39. I'm so excited, I'm off to update my signature, that get's me two pounds closer to getting back to £100 total!

  • I posted earlier but it's vanished....no new temptations or purchases although I have put some items on my wishlist on another website so that when I get a new job and find some hefty discount codes, I may buy. Right now, I have more important uses for my money, firstly wanting an iPhone and being more than halfway there!!
