Ooh sarahangel, have never thought of towelling slippers before! Silly me. The ones I was on about are here, sort of vintage looking."All cruelty springs from weakness" - Lucius Annaeus SenecaPersonal pronouns are they/them/their, please.
I'm intolerant of wheat, citrus, grapes, grape products and dried vine fruits, tomato, and beetroot, and I am also somewhat caffeine sensitive.0 -
Hello & welcome to Jacey53 & rosemary54 :hello:
I think I've amended everyon'e spends correctly, but PLEASE would you make any spend to be taken off your totals in a bold, coloured or enlarged font, preferably all 3
Happy New Spend to all, some great bargains there :j
Blonde Ambition, I dont really know why you joined this challenge, the idea is to save money by not buying so many clothes & therefore use what you save on clearing debts. Why have you bought 2 pairs of wellies & 2 black dresses in one week  I would strongly suggest that you return one of each item, your sig says you still owe Barclaycard so the money you are spending actually isnt yours, it belongs to Barclaycard.
Sorry if you dont like my tough love method, I'm here to help people spend less in order to clear their debts, not applaud their excesses.

Gawd, I can honestly say im adicted to shopping. It's a bit like a drug, I can be having a terrible day, I walk round the shops buy some stuff and then im all mellow an fine again
does anybody else think there as adicted to shopping as somebody adicted to say gambling would be to their vice?
This could have been written by me. I have lived and breathed shopping every day this year. It's an emotional comfort for everything really. But the amount of time I spend shopping for the quick fix and then feeling guilty and standing in queues again to return everything is getting ridiculous.
It's a binge/purge thing - pleasure and then guilt. It doesn't end up costing me financially as I return pretty much everything I buy - but OMG the time wasted when I could be actually achieving something.
Need to get my head round this and sort it out.
Thanks for listening.

I know exactly how that fabulous thrill of having a handful of bags can totally uplift you.
I used to go shopping every friday & just bringing stuff home would fill me with joy. I watched that Alvin Hall Money show & eventually realised that I was just filling a need with shopping. Not quite sure how I overcame it, perhaps hitting the limit on one of my CCs & finding other stuff to do instead. Maybe realising that I had cured myself of many other addictions / habits & realising that I just wanted to be free without any compulsions & guilt.
Maybe some form of therapy/counselling could unlock the root cause of the shopping & help you to overcome it.
We're all here for you :A0 -
I USED to be a total shopaholic and was all about nice clothes, shoes etc. Now I have realised that I just cant afford it and would rather spend my money doing stuff than buying stuff! Temptation is strong so I just DONT GO INTO SHOPS as a way of passing time, but only go when I need something. No spend so far from me but will buy a few new bits of uniform next week because it's the new allowance period and I have to.'The road to a friends house is never long'0

I can so relate to that; I am now filling my time with other things and keeping well away from the shops although to be honest when browsing online I am still mostly untempted.0

Well done for starting sewing Knitty, I may have saved on buying clothes but I now just buy fabric
I need some good strong non clothes buying vibes please! Going through a stressful time at work (anyone who works for the NHS may understand!!) and I'm feeling particularly weak as I would buy clothes to make me feel better, haven't seen anything in particular I just have the need to buy and buy anything - not good0 -

Have just joined the use it or lose it thread and hoping this will help with the clothes too! No new spends and in the last two days, have worn to work, my lovely black Oasis skirt (got in the sale last year and bought 2 cos knew I'd wear it to death) with a cream and black top, couldn't find my thin cream cardi so wore a chunkier one and chucked a black belt round it, looked surprisingly nice and today, the same skirt with a black shirt and my now found thin cream cardi and jazzed it up with a pearl necklace, earrings and bangles which I bought for this purpose. I've realised why people are 'shopping' in their own wardrobes, it's great.
Oh and yeah shopping is addictive but I am in rehab just now!
my DH is a wizz at maths(Ifailed twice) and if i told him just how many items of clothing/accessories I have and asked him to compute how many outfits I could make out of a few items I think he would blow a gaskit when he worked it out.
I think we are all guilty of putting the same old things together and wearing a small proportion of our clothes a lot and a large proportion a little so maybe we should challenge ourselves to mix and match more?
I don't recommend asking OHs to choose outfits though as I am sure the results would be "interesting" to say the least.
I am now on clothes and toiletries challenge and hope to save money to visit my son who emegrates to the USA on sunday, only trouble is I am ashamed to say I have absolutly no idea what I spent on stuff last year:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
friday 29th jan £100 in credit......long may it last:j0
