I've been thinking about this challenge a lot & whether I should/ could do it again next year ... I believe that for me, it would work best if I give myself a monthly allowance for everything clothes/shoes/accessories/undies etc rather than trying to stick to a very small budget for cetain items & then spending 3 x that amount on everything else.

I should be debt free by April :) next year, but will still need to exercise some control over my spending & think a public budget & confessional might be the way forward.

Any thoughts from those who might want to play again next year would be welcome.

Glad to hear you're up for another year of us crazies... sounds like the format of including shoes/underwear would work better for you.

I must say, I do not really overspend on other parts of my wardrobe - can't find shoes that work for me for love nor money, think I've spent a total of £25 on shoes this year... don't really buy jewellery, although like a vintage silk scarf - probably spent £6 on those this year, and £10 on handbags... all of these things are not problem areas for me, whereas the items covered in the crazy clothes challenge have been. And pants, socks and bras are essentials that keep getting eaten by the underwear monster who clearly lives in my laundry basket, so no opportunity to save there. I would therefore like to continue another year in the old skool challenge format of £100 on classifiable clothes, if that would be acceptable?

And you may be bust, but you're still fabulous and frugal in my eyes ;)

Ok I've been going a bit crazy of late :o more spends to declare :o:o (but in my defence I've outgrown loads of my clothes - mostly 8s when I'm now a 10/12- and the rest are all looking tatty)

    So I've bought:
    • a pair of jean (reduced to £7 ;))
    • a jumper £7.45 ebay
    • a dress :) its a flapper/tassle style LBD from topshop (have wanted one for years ever since I saw Carrier from SATC on the date with the Russian) off ebay for £13.50 :D
I did take back the jumper I got last week so refunded £15.99, it didn't go with anything so it had to go ;)

Going to go work out my totals... Ok so new total is £188.34/£300, I also bought a belt for £9.99 but happily it doesn't count :)
    DF as at 30/12/16
    Wombling 2025: £87.12
    NSD March: YTD: 35
Grocery spend challenge March £253.38/£285 £20/£70 Eating out
    GC annual £449.80/£4500
    Eating out budget: £55/£420
    Extra cash earned 2025: £195
  • Ooops - it's amazing what I "need" for my holiday, though in my defence these were bargains! I bought a linen shirt that will do nicely as a jacket in the evening for Egypt for £5, and I got a beach dress and a T shirt for £2 each from M&S. In my defence I did save a total of £48! :)

    Total spend £9

I know, I know, I am so rubbish at updating regularly :o

Raven333 - sorry to hear of your DDs illness & I hope she is now recovered :grouphug: hugs to you both.

determined new ms - CONGRATULATIONS :j on becoming DEBT FREE :T Have you been shopping to celebrate ? :D

Jane Blackford - excellent saving ;) & i hope your holiday was fab

Museumworker - I think you are finding this challenge far too easy if you dont suffer from accessory addiction - Happy New Dress :j& I hope you have found the perfect occasion to wear it :)

Swinstie - you make me feel so much better about my own naughtiness :A

Rosemary - what's going on  are you a reformed character :rotfl:
A very big WELCOME to noynoy & amber03 :hello:- it's never too late to save some money so please do join in.

I've been persuaded that I should run the challenge again next year  even though I was hoping to be debt free early next year & had dreams of mad shopping sprees ...

The reality is I probably wont be debt free until the summer & even more annoyingly I still havent lost that stone .

That leaves me with the following options :

    1) - wear the few clothes that do fit me & feel lumpy & frumpy :(

    2) - buy more new clothes in a size I dont want to be & spend more money I dont really have :(

    3) - sort myself out & pledge to lose those 20lbs thereby gaining a whole range of outfits unworn for 2 years, feeling better about msyelf & using the clothes challenge money to just add a few key seasonal pieces to update basics :).

    I'm going for option 3 :D

Havent bought any more clothes ... but there is a lovely pair of red patent shoes on their way to me

    bye for now

    xx
