  • Hi Sarah both my wife and my sister who are also doing the challenge are pregnant. So hopefully I can pass on their advice.
They both didn't want to spend a fortune in the shops and both preferred the Mothercare etc online stuff. So they went instore and tried on dresses, jeans, tops etc to get an idea of what size they were, then looked on Ebay for maternity clothing, some of which is this season's stuff. My sis has a great Holly Willoughby dress and a Mothercare dress both of which were cheaper than new - the HW dress was worn once and the Mothercare one was brand new. My wife has been buying sporty stuff from New Look when they have a discount in a magazine, and she has bought from Ebay and a lovely ASOS maternity dress in the sale - the same one went on Ebay for more! Crazy! For casual wear they have both been wearing lots of maternity vests with long line cardigans and jeans.
    Congrats on being pregnant!

spent yesterday going through my wardrobe as weather a bit off so no garden visit:(

seemed to throw loads out but still only about 12 inches of space for DS2's stuff!

I have some lovely skirts from brands like CC,including silk ones but when I checked on ebay the prices were so low it does not seem worth while trying to sell them:(Also scary when I think about it is how old some of them are:rotfl:

found some new items in there that don't seem to match anything else so not sure why I bought them in the 1st place:eek:

feet very sore at the mo so not wearing shoes but want to wear all those I have in the future(also threw out a pair of v expensive ones not worn for years:()
this challenge is def making me think more about clothes even tho I know I have spent maybe 3 times the £100 limit I set myself!

  • :) Afternoon All

DD3 has asked to go shopping in Hull today so she can spend some of her b'day money so I imagine a big part of it will be in primarni - up to now I would have said "eeks I will come out with loads and loads and having spent loads and loads" but I know I won't as I have said to myself "ok your budget is £15" - So I will either not spend anything or I will hopefully find a few bargains.I could have said that I wasn't going to buy anything at all but looking through some of my tee shirts/tops look like they need to go to the decorating clothes pile - under the arms are going - threadbare in places or the print is going a little naff - but if I can't find anything to replace them its fine I can wait:)

Oh and by the way the N**t jeans I bought are amazing - wash brilliantly and go with evey thing and soooo comfy - well worth the wait!

    Will update later - ttfn

My challenge for the year is £200 - I joined only in July and spent in hindsight a lot of money early on in the year on 3 breastfeeding tops but also have dropped from a pre-preg good size 14 to a 10/12 so all my old trousers were looking a tad sack like. So not epic fail at all, win win all round I think!

Any suggestions where I can get some nice maternity wear from? Most of the places I have looked stock stuff that I just wouldn't wear!!

    Take care all

    Hi Sarah
Have you tried new look and peacocks - they do maternity clothes and I got a couple of plain multipack tops there last year and they were cheap. The best £10 I spent on maternity clothes though was on bump bands - I was able to wear my normal jeans and skirts right up until the end http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/maternity/3pack-bump-band_167193499 you can pick them up off ebay but mine ended up quite stretched so don't know if 2nd hand ones would be worth it, IYSWIM. HTH!
