My oldest thing is a long green fine knit jumper that I bought when I was about 15 (I'm now 34).

I wore it at the time with a long double layer skirt of a kind of chiffon, one black and one green layer. Plus my ever faithful Doc Marten boots.

It came from Miss Selfridge and was the first thing I ever bought on my own without being out with my parents or my friends!!!

It is funny really how some things date really really quickly but other bits last for ages. Some of things I wore when I was in my twenties were really frumpy and I have no idea why I chose them! I dress a lot better now!!!!

just wish I could wear thgings from when I was 15:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(55 now:(:(:()
when my late mum was 55 she looked old and wore crimpolene dresses:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: and as for my nan well her wedding pics (2nd marriage about 40) are unbelievable:eek::eek::eek:

hope I don't look so old now, hard to judge a fine line between frumpy(blouse tucked in flowery crimp skirt) or mutton as lamb!!!!!:rotfl:

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That reminds me of a Billy Connelly gag where he was talking about how many baby Crimples it took to make a crimpolene suit! Class!

I've got some things that are old(ish) which I wear but nothing majorly old. I used to be able to fit into the bridesmaid dress I wore when I was 14, fitted me up until about 7 years ago, now at 36 I am more fuller figured :D

Bought another dress yesterday: £7.50 at Primark. It's one I'd given up on getting...someone must have returned it; there was one there on the end of an unrelated rail, in my size so it would have been rude not to!!
  • I'm an outrage, £30 on a bright pink merino wool boden tunic for september.

    eta £47 left.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
  • Well at last I have found and bought the jeans I have been looking for:j
It has taken me ages to find any that fit my bill but they are for once the right length and round the waist-style- colour- and most of all price.

Thank you Mr N**t at a whole £15 for a pair of brand new not in the sale for once jeans(by the way they are the petite boyfriend dark indigo ones) - I am a happy bunny:D

So please update me to a total spend of £19.50

I did try on a couple of their vest type tops (2 for £7.50)but became frustrated as they fell off the hangers when passing stuff back to the changing room asst so I just thrust them back to her! At least it saved me £7.50- but hey were the best i have tried on up to now but not the colours I really wanted.

Funny this has come up on the thread (OK I haven't visited for a while!) as just this morning I realised the belt I'm wearing was something I bought from Gap in the sale when I was about 12 (now nearly 28), which is pretty good going.

Kind of following on from rosemary54's post, what is your favorite inherited item?

I have a maxi dress that was my mother's in the 70s (so older than me!) which I have been really enjoying recently - lots of people ask where its from, as lovely as they are high st prints are easy to spot! I also have her collection of Italian leather belts from around the same time, which are lovely and so well made.

    Hello everyone,

work has been manic so I've been reading & writing down any new spends , but just havent got around to posting for ages.

HAPPY NEW CLOTHES to all :j

I'll be updating the front page again very soon but for now just wanted to agree with museumworker about the joy of finding a newer version of a much loved dress :D

As to vintage heirloooms I remember the joy of finding a fab 60's suede jacket in my grandmothers wardrobe when I was about 17. All my friends were highly envious & I wore it for years & years until it literally fell apart at the seams :(

I have a bid on a lovely tea dress ... I have also lost about 17 bids in recents weeks which is sad but cheap :rotfl:

Hello Elmy and welcome! This is a great challenge if clothes shopping is your weak spot.

Just wanted to check though - you can of course set your budget at whatever you want - but did you mean £100 a month or £100 a year? Mine is the latter (£100 a year, I was very  when I set it, but amazingly have managed to achieve it, it really does help focus the mind.

Lula-Hula - "sad but cheap" :D that might be my new motto :rotfl:!
