Happy new jeans, oh Goddess Lula. Hooowwwww do you do surveys and get money in your paypal account???
I did try and copy something from another part of mSE but it did not work!
If you search for surveys in forums there is list on the page with lots of surveys sites to join a lot of which will pay into paypal, pinecone is a greta one but hard to get accepted for and they pay £4 a survey:)also lightspeed do paypal and maybe some of the others too,I do a lot which pay vouchers tho, still good for Boots,Next etc

Dont know if anybody would be interested, but saw above somebody confusing BNWT - here is just a few that I can think of on top of my head :)

BNWOT - brand new without tags
BNWT - brand new with tags.
    INC - in new condition.
BNIB - brand new in box
BNWOB - brand new without box
Learning to be 'good with money'
  • Daft question but does it smell "newish" or "febre**ish" or "Just washed"? Might give you an extra clue.

It stinks of fags. I can wash it to get rid of that, but I can't wash out burn holes!

I think some people have got a machine for putting those plastic tags in, so it looks like the label has never been removed!

    Lula thanks for the info:T:T:T

Seller has given me address for return.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
  • Well, I spent £7.40 in Primark on a pair of PJ bottoms which I needed and 2 pairs of girls' boxer shorts which I also needed as I have thrown away so many old pairs of overused pants...and I love Primark boxers!!

I also bought a plain black T shirt and a 7 pair pack of plain socks for someone in much need; but this £13 cost came off a gift card I earnt through doing surveys.

Nothing else to report; finally bought myself a shiny new phone so am broke.
  • Hi there,

I've been lurking on this thread for about a year now, so thought it was time I stopped being so shy and said hello! I love following your shopping adventures and have loads of admiration for everyone who's determined to stick to the challenge.

I've found something which has really helped control my spending - I've started a blog (you can get to it by clicking on my username and then homepage if you're interested) and am writing about the clothesn I've seen that I want.

By writing about them, I seem to be getting all of the thrill, without any of the expense! By the time I've written my bit, it seems to have been worked out of my system. Also, people comment on my potential purchases and sometimes what people say makes me think again (e.g. unflattering cut, not worth the money etc) and that 'cures' me of wanting it.

It's only been a week or so, so early days - but I'm thinking much, much more about the clothes I buy.

Hope this helps someone. Oh, and please feel free to add your comments on the blog to keep me motivated!

    Thanks

    xx

Have broken my duck of spending on clothes, but it was on a bra (£18) which was needed due to having lost some weight and sadly it seems it went from a part that can't afford to lose much  But hopefully that will be it for a while.

I do various surveys too - I do the PineCone ones which are great as they pay really quickly and you always get paid when you do one (Lightspeed and Valued Opinions often let you get part way through and then you find out you're not suitable ).

Have a little paypal balance stashed away :)
  • So far I have bought
    2X 2.99 for 2 dresses for work
    £35 on coat -- ebay
    £30 on 6 bras WNWT
    2 tops - also for work - £6
    1 pair of culottes £5
total on clothes so far - £82!

    It's only April!!!! I don't think I'm going to manage the £100 target!

Glad you can send it back GFH! Hope they reimburse the postage too! Have you posted feedback yet?

Wore my pink freecycle dress to the Ball last night - got loads of compliments too which was great but the best bit was telling all those where I got it from! :)

But had to have running repair as I split the zip seam at my bum, about 3 inches- half way through dinner sitting down - forgot to hitch the skirt up!:rotfl:- Thank goodness I took a mini emegency sewing kit with me - freebie from a hotel years ago and having a costume designer student daughter on hand helped too!have alsways carried a little one at these kind of do's but never had to use one on myself usually other people!

The pashmina shawl that I dyed pink - I never even had chance to wear it!Lol.
It is still sat in the suitcase I took with me - never mind - thank good ness I never bought a new one!

As is everyone else addingt o their total if they have sold items on Ebay and then bought items with the money ??

Hello there - I'm not adding money to my clothes total, I am using it to save up for my 10k challenge (this is for a loft extension I hope to pay for next year). I think it is a personal choice - if you have debts I think it would be best to use the money to pay these off first, but it is really up to you to make that decision.

New charity shop purchases to declare:

£3.49 for a Jasper Conran short sleeved cream and maroon striped cardigan with jewelled buttons. I lost a cardigan at my daughters school the other week:( but this one is a good one so feel much :D

Also, £4.99 possibly to add - I fell for a black blazer, totally 80s, Country Casual - it is boyfriend style, with large black shiny polka dots and a gold chain to close it. I totally love it, although wonder if if may be more of a coat than a jacket? Lula-Hula, I will let you decide!!

  • Hi

Ive not been on for a while but having lost more weight had to buy a few more things.

    NEW TOTAL £54.34

I got some nice things though and all pretty cheap.this challenge certanly makes me think about how many times I will wear things and what other items things will go with!

I got a tunic top/dress, a cardigan and two pairs of leggings and have worn everything loads of times so certanly got my moneys worth!
