Have had a really busy day. Im shattered but part of it caused by me not sleeping properly at night. All sorts going round my head at 2am this morning. Went out first thing and got the meat plus veg and fruit for DD and me. Called at the chemist to stock up as I have a cold, cough and sore throat. I was red hot during the night. I met DD and we went to Mr As food shopping. Im glad thats over it was horrendous. This afternoon Ive been doing the roasties and veg. Im just having a cuppa then going up to sort the presents into bags to take to DDs tomorrow. Tomorrow just need a couple of things then thats it.

    Hi Girls

Sorry but I am so mad and DH is at work not giving a toss:mad:

I never ask him to do anything at all with regards to Christmas, I get all the pressies for the kids and both sets of families, I peel the potatoes, do all the veg etc, I do the soup, I set the table, I do the cleaning, you get the picture right. I asked him to do ONE thing, just ONE that was to order my stuff from the butchers (which is closed tomorrow) I even wrote him a list as follows
    • 2 x cooked turkey crowns (One for his mum) Got 2 x uncooked
    • 2 x fillet steaks (DH wanted that this year and kids having above) He got this right
    • Pigs in blankets Pigs without blankets
    • Stewing steak Got this right
    • Beef links He forgot these
    • Mince He forgot this
I get it cooked to save me time on the day and usually we all have the turkey but he had to be different this year. As he is working Christmas day, I was going to make steak pie for me and the kids so suppose now I will make it without the links which is not a tragedy but kids love the sausages in it. Sounds really stupid now but am so angry that its the only thing I ask of him and he can't get it right, so guess who is gonna be on kitchen duty on boxing day

I need to turn this negative energy into positive energy so anyone for a

Gordon and PG are your friends at this time, they help take away the fear ;):D

Boddy - hope your cold cold clears up pdq and that you have a good night's sleep tonight.

Macpep - big hugs love, at least he TRIED and actually did go to the butchers rather than failed to even attempt the task. I'm sure you'll manage admirably with what you have in. And, make sure he's on kitchen duty on boxing day of course!

    well!

Taken DD to see St Trinian's - got tickets, went for McDonalds then to see the film then popped into town for a few bits (and got a free space so a result there). Gets home Ds has his mate here and can he stay the night. Well DD has thrown a mega strop because she doesn't like his mate.

Yep, I do it all the time. Just cut them up, wash and then freeze in portion sizes. No need to blanch. I just then lob them, still frozen, into a saucepan with butter and once they're soft and cooked, make a cheese sauce around them or lob them, frozen, into a casserole or stew. You need to add them as part of a dish though. If you let them defrost before cooking, they go terriby limp
