Hurrah, all my shopping is now done and I didn't need to go near a supermarket at all!

Thanks for the starter suggestion Hex. I've settled on a variation of an idea that Rach sent me in a text. I couldn't get pears but I have goat's cheese and smoked salmon so I'll wrap slices of the cheese in the smoked salmon and heat them through briefly - quick and easy!

Let's see where we are with stuff. Not too bad at all! just general housework now really.

    Monday Mayhem..

    1. Dust round the whole downstairs
    Tuesday - Time's nearly up!!!
    1. Vacuum through downstairs.. and the stairs!
    2. Mop the kitchen floor!
    3. Wash any soft furnishings in need of freshening up
    Wednesday Mayhem..
    1. mop the kitchen
    2. Bake some mince pies and tarts etc.. yummies!!!
    3. Change any bedding you need to get washed before the fat guy arrives.. and I do not mean the OH/parent/ etc
    4. Spend at least half an hour doing something for yourself.. reading.. relaxing.. goggling... remember you are important too.

  • quick thank you :j ladies for all your ideas - I now have pink stocking fillers - yay me!!

off to pick up DS, and write a final shop list (Mr S had no eggs, and a couple other things we need) to be picked up either very late tonight or very early tomorrow - may even text list to DH - perhaps he'd like to stop somewhere on his way home?? :D

    OK - must shoot,

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Not bad going. The whole of downstairs is clean and tidy, just need to keep it that way for the at least the next few days! Will finish off the rest tomorrow morning. We should have the IL's, my Dad, (mum is poorly with the same sickness bug DD1 and I had yesterday), my brother, sister & her OH coming round in the next 10 minutes for a party tea for DD2. Fortunately DH cooked chilli last night in preparation so I only need to cook rice and we've got a chocolate butterfly birthday cake for afters.

Will see you all tomorrow. x

Have been very good and got on with things today - managed to persudae dh he should get the Christmas food shop (hehe!) so I gutted Adam's room, got rid of outgrown clothes and toys he doesn't play with and with missing bits. Have already taken anything decent to the charity shop (2 big bags) and got a few last bits and bobs from Santa. Have also done 2 loads of washing and drying, just got to put away, cleaned out the fridge. polyfilled a couple of holes in walls that have been annoying me for a while and hoovered the lounge. Not bad for a fairly unmotivated day initially!

DH is out this evening so plan to get kids in bed nice and early and then gut the kitchen/diner - or alternatively read a book and do some sewing!

I have peaked and all I want to do is curl up in bed and sleep until New Year! But that's not possible so I'm stopping for five minutes with a restorative Gordon. BUT I have unpacked half the shopping and nipped up the road to best friend's to give her her birthday present.

The only thing I REALLY need to do now is make sausage rolls for the office tomorrow. But I ought to put the rest of the shopping away and make some mince pies and tidy up a bit - the kitchen looks like a bomb hit it.

Ooooh - and we've got thunder and lightning and heavy rain all of a sudden

Greenbee - wishing you a safe journey - I hear on the radio things are still bad weather wise in your area.
