Evening all,
Have been soooooooooooooo bored (and boring) today, went for a visit to my mum's but her and my sister were just as boring! Watched mum iron faceclothes and socks, !!!!!!! Anyway, then to my other sister's and we looked through some baking books for wedding cake ideas, but she had old books and the cakes in them were very old fashioned. I'd love an elaborately decorated cake, have even found a piccie of one I like with gorgeous lilac flowers cascading down into darker purple ones at the bottom. She'll never be able to do that, so I think a nice two or three tiered (probably two) plain iced cake with some ribbon and a fancy cake-topper will suffice.
Then went to the shop for some ingredients for lunch i.e. bread and meat and some dinner stuff. Ended up eating an entire quiche, bought cheap as was out of date today and of course didn't think to buy another couple for the freezer. Freezer is quite full so just as well. Also eat an ENTIRE box of mini Stollen cakes (12 - oops) I know I am so greedy! Whilst doing the dishes I promptly threw up, so serves me right. It was two boxes for £3, guess the other box will be going to work with me tomorrow. I love Stollen cake but it wasn't very nice, and it's the last time I go shopping when I have only eaten porridge all day (shopped at 4pm - porridge at 10.30am), so I need to learn to eat better and not binge on flipping cakes.
So health = crap
Finances looking quite healthy, only £3.76 interest on my BC this month so looking better than the £10+ before. Roll on pay-day.
House - livingroom looking great, bathroom needs a quick spruce, kitchen (dishes done but still needs work) and bedroom is a riot. Everything from downstairs is now upstairs. Need to get it done ASAP.
Well off to bed now, so night all x0 -
Afternoon,
Well not much to report today, no money spent and don't have any trips to shops planned for today so should be a NSD. New woman started today at long last but she's having problems getting logged in etc., so probably won't get too much done today. Two weeks on Thursday til pay-day but don't think the money I have in my purse (£42) will last me, as I have lottery money to pay (£5) and chirpodist (or blacksmith as OH calls him) at £17. I only get this done twice a year so it's not too extravagent.
Weekend away this month is after pay-day so it's all looking good so far.
Asked the Universe for a great day at work today and it's actually been ok, I even kept my cool with daft drivers on the way here.0 -
Just received my ebook of The Secret from the lovely Essex, thanks again, it will be saved for me to read through again and again.
Had a surprise in the mail when I came home, now I haven't asked the Universe for a cheque, but my utility company is sending me one for £113.31, yeah! Then I nearly collapsed in a heap when further down it said my new monthly direct debit payment would be £156.09, now considering I used to pay £59 then it was reduced to £25, this was a masoooooove shock to the system.
Straight onto them (cos I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight) and the lovely lady sorted it, something wonky with the DD thingybob, although it is now going to be £52, which I can handle considering I was paying £59 before. Luckily for me as well, I've been putting an extra £25 in the bank as I thought it strange when they reduced it to £25 in the first place.
So, I am getting a lovely cheque, I will pay into the bank then straight onto my Visa, well £100 of it anyway, just cos I like nice round figures (a bit like my own) - or maybe not, as I weighed myself at work today and I've lost 3lbs!!!!
Will re-do on Friday wearing my usualy weighing in togs but hoping at least 2lb remains off. Now where is that ebook????0 -
You're very welcome Swinstie! Some of the credit is definiately due to Scottishlass too as she sent it to me in the first place!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Couldn't track down Scottishlass so left message on your thread Essex! Maybe SkintScottishlass??
Anyway, OH is working shifts so won't be down his usual Wednesday night, not so good but it gives me more time to get house done. Just about to get a cuppa and it's so nice to sit in a relaxing, tidy livingroom. Watch bit tv (loads to catch up on) then try and finish the kitchen, had dinner at mum's so no dirty pots to clean tonight. Bathroom is semi tidy but bedroom is a riot so will concentrate on the bedroom Wed - Thurs, OH is coming down Friday afternoon and is making dinner, so need place done by then. Wish me luck.0 -
Ok, so livingroom lovely - check!
Bathroom tidy - check
Kitchen - semi tidy (need to empty some cupboards to get pots put away and try fixing my door handle on a cupboard - the screw just keeps turning for some reason)
Bedroom - is actually coming along nicely, don't know where I'm going to sleep right enough as bed is full. Managed to do loads whilst watching One Night Stand with the Scissor Sisters - it was actually pretty fab, wouldn't mind seeing them in concert sometime.
P.S. S'pose better get to bed eh! Night all x0 -
Hi there Swinstie
Just thought I'd drop in and let you know I'm still reading your diary. Looking forward to you announcing you're debt free! You seem to spend a lot of time tidying and cleaning your place to say there's only one of you. I think you must get a visit during the night by the same mess gremlin who backcombs my hair while I'm asleep!
I'm still enjoying debt free life and even managing to save a little despite OH's work situation still not being great at the moment (wish this recession would hurry up and finish). You'll be pleased to hear we're still managing the odd holiday. Had a great holiday in August in Lanzarote to celebrate my big 50 birthday (shriek!) and we will be returning there next March for a week.
Will keep looking in - you are so close to your goal now. Well done!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hi SA
Nice to 'hear' from you and that you are still enjoying the debt free life style - happy belated birthday!
I don't think I will ever be completely debt free, but looking forward to having the bulk of it paid off and being able to pay my visa bill off in full every month. The CC comes in handy at times, but I will be trying to limit my usage of it in future.
Well, spend of £0.80 today on a roll on scrambled egg (I was starving) - need to buy new cereal for work on Monday, I didn't enjoy the bitesize weetabix I currently have in work - will try making a weetabix cake ala Memory Girl, copied the recipe somewhere, so as to not waste them.
Also, £10 paid for my Christmas dinner at work, think it's around £35, but being the only woman (actually, two of us now), out of 30 guys we usually get the remainder paid on the night BUT, not to assume anything, I will be a good girl and take my money with me anyway - don't want the embarrassment when asked for my share to say - thought I didn't need to pay :rotfl::rotfl:
Also, £35 on petrol (Visa) - see this is where I want to use it for petrol and the likes but pay it off, only got £77 in the bank and £9 in purse to last for 2 weeks so I'm afraid the Visa had to come out.
Well off for some dinner now, should've been a gym night but it's wild out, think got another gym I could go to on the way home, usual one is too far away hence the not going. Away to investigate it after dinner.
ETA: And yes I have those gremlins at home - which reminds me, the bedroom needs done then I can relax!0 -
There's a mess gremlin here, too! He's about 6'1", dark hair, plays rugby on a saturday afternoon......!
Swinstie - what about eventually getting a cashback credit card? We have one, spend on that instead of using the debit card, then pay off in full each month. Earnt us about £100 last year, although the purchase of a second hand car for OH did go on there so that helped a chunk!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The gremlin in my flat is ........... Me! I am such a messy bunny and never clear up after myself. I also keep stuff just in case. I reckon I only use about 20% if what I own!
Hope your house is lovely and I will have to catch up with you!
Night!
