Thanks SA, I know it's not old but I'm feeling it this year!
Was at a course this morning but was a bit of a shambles as we couldn't get logged on so course was cancelled. I was glad as I wasn't feeling too great, had a headache but also the worst cramps ever and was really feeling sick. Came home after calling work, another sick day, not so good. Have slept most of the day and just had some soup and a couple of slice of bread.
Also checked my lottery tickets I got for my birthday - got 4 numbers (first time ever) and think it's £54 I'm due. Got the ticket from OH's mum and dad so must thank them. The other 2 numbers I should've got were 3 and 27, I had 5 and 17 so almost close.
Had a big falling out with family too last night, I owed sister money for EJ tickets and she owed me money for ones I booked so we were trying to work out money owed. I gave her £60 and she tried to give me £25 and said we were clear, didn't sound right to me (and I was right, she should've given me £35 to be clear) and she started getting onto me. She thinks she's flipping Carol Vorderman but she got it wrong but I got the blame. She spoke to me like I was stupid, then other sister was agreeing with her - the same sister who calls me by the other one's name all the time and does my head in. Anyway I lost it and told them all to !!!! off, I'm sick of the lot of them and will not be contacting any of them until I get an apology. I'm sick of being spoken to (being the youngest) like crap, I've taken it for 37 years and I'm taking it no more.
Anyway, sorry for the wee rant and I know it's petty but I'm always the one having to crawl back - they were totally out of order and can crawl to me this time.0 -
Hi Swinstie - belated happy birthday, you kept that one quiet!
Sorry about the falling out with your sisters too - hopefully they will now have had a chance to think things through and will get in touch with you soon. xx🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks Essex, yeah kept it quiet cos not feeling it this year. Not sure what's wrong with me.
They won't get in touch cos they think they're in the right as usual and it's usually me who has to give in. Basically I owed £112, she owed me £87, so really I should've given her £25 and that would've been that. However, as OH had given me £60 for his share I gave her this which meant I now owed her £52 but she still owed me £87 so she should've given me back £35 to make it even. She was trying to give me £25 but she had already taken the £60 off me. She got it wrong but I think I know where it went wrong. She won't listen to me though!0 -
Well money situation all sorted, as usual I had to phone them (didn't apologise nor receive one) but it's all sorted. I didn't realise she was actually trying to give me back £15 (not £25) but had only taken £40 and not £60, so at the end of the day she was giving me £35 back, it wasn't so much about the money as the way she spoke to me that peed me off.
Bad news on the Coast dress I was going to dye, been trawling the net and came across the Dylon website so ended up phoning them and asking if it was ok to dye, it's 100% silk but also dry clean only. Was told NO! So called another Coast and feigned stupidity that I had lost my receipt, they said it was ok to return BUT as I have no receipt I will need to buy something there and then, can't even get an exchange note for it. So so stupid of me to buy it in the first place, the only things I could do is a) return it for something else, but what??, b) try and dye it and ruin it, c) wear it on the cruise and risk looking like getting married again or d) wear it at the evening reception.
Think the best bet is exchange for something else as then I could get something else for cruise and maybe even some shoes or jewellery or bag (which I don't need). Don't want to dye it and ruin it and as much as it's a lovely dress I really don't want to get changed for reception, want people to see my dress (and it was too expensive to not wear all day). Argh, Swinstie does it again - wastes money!0 -
Evening all,
Well didn't hear back from anyone about what to do with dress, apart from girl from work who said return it. So, I did! Called another Coast store and the girl was very nice, saying that yes I could return without a receipt (nothing about getting 20% took off cos they had a sale going on), so I raced to the shop and ended up exchanging it for 3 items of clothing. Had to put £25 to it, but that was birthday money, got a black top, black and gold skirt and a multi fine knit top. Very pleased with all three items and I will definitely wear them more than I would the dress. I can wear the black top and skirt with black tights and heels for my Christmas night out, sorted.
The place I drove to was miles away and I've only been once before but I managed to find it, only getting lost once trying to get out of the place, ha! Very happy Swinstie now as I don't feel like I've wasted money (oh and I even got £115 back for it - I only paid £103.5), ssshhhhh0 -
That's a really good outcome to that situation then Swinstie - sounds like you've got some decent items of clothing which will prove to be an investment too so well done!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Another eventful weekend over! Went to see a show on Saturday (a guy in work was directing it), wasn't as keen on it as past ones. OH was trying to hold a burp in and kept making faces when an old guy behind him burped quite loud. OH started poking me on the arm and I almost burst out laughing (at a very quiet and serious bit in the show). You know how at school when you were dying to laugh but couldn't then when you ended up bursting, the teacher pulled you up for it?! Well it was like that, had to muffle my laugh in my jacket!
Also today, almost set my kitchen on fire, eek! Was grilling sausages and OH was making tea whilst I was buttering the bread. As my kitchen is so small, I closed the grill door and went through to eat sarnies. Smoke alarm goes off and there is the grill on fire - I hadn't switched it off, what an idiot. Burned my finger trying to switch it off, opened the door at the flames were flying out. Have never been so scared. Bit of smoke damage and charred kitchen cupboards but it came off eventually and looks ok. Just like the thing to be trying to sell my house and the kitchen units being damaged.
Anyway, I won't be making that mistake again, bit paranoid now about cooking. Well off to bed now, as knacked. Night all xx0 -
Afternoon all,
Well it's payday on Thursday and have been tweaking my finances. Current debt is sitting at £3,370!! BUT, I haven't been going mad spending money I don't have, £1,034.71 of that is due back from ticket money I am owed and also money from the wedding fund, so actual debt is at £2,342.29, so only just under £500 down this month.
Aiming to be sitting around £1,750 by the end of the year, so still on track to be cleared by March next year, not stressing about being debt free by Christmas although it would be nice. Need to put our wedding fund money up as well as things are costing more than we thought, although have made some savings already - think the dress done us in. Since I'm the one wearing a ridiculously expensive (for me) dress then if need be I will put extra in, don't see why OH should have to pay for my extravagances, when all he'll be wearing is a hired kilt!
Anyway, also need to start putting money away for the cruise which has to be paid in September, will get a proper amount as a deposit has already been paid. Had a look at some of the excursions and it could get quite costly doing 9 things so we'll need to pick what we like best. I've not been to most of the islands but would quite like to see them rather than stay on the ship, so maybe a sneaky visit (without paying for excursions) will be in order.
Do you not just hate money at times......0 -
Yes I hate money too- or rather I hate having to managing it! I have to say i am so impressed with you. The wedding costs are always going to be there but you are doing great in trying to keep the costs down. Well done!0

Morning all,
Went to bed last night and woke up during the night to a white-out, how did that happen??!
Anyway not been around for a while as been busy buying wedding and Christmas stuff, got nearly all my Christmas shopping done, only a couple of small things to buy. Have only went over budget by about £10 so all looking good (got money saved up already).
Also car passed it's MOT, yeehah! Was so happy, it only cost £50 for the MOT so I have £170 stashed in my car fund (£120 of that is ear-marked for road tax in March). So well on with my savings for car emergencies/insurance for next year.
Going away this weekend with my mum and sisters (that's if we get there with the weather), so OH was down last night and is now working the whole weekend. Only found out he was working yesterday as he was supposed to be off. Trust him to have been off the only weekend I'd be away, all worked out in the end though. Well away to have my porridge and get my bag packed - can walk out my nice tidy, yes tidy house (got it all done when off work yesterday), feeling good knowing I won't be coming back home to a tip. Just need to keep the tidiness up now.
Have a good weekend everyone x0
