Hi all,
Well pamper weekend was great but it was a hairy drive back (was in Kinross), took us an hour to get there on Saturday and almost 3 hours to get home today. We did see Santa Claus (actually a woman in a red jacket and hat), a snowman with a hi viz on at the side of the road and a man ahem, peeing at the side of the road - in full view of passing traffic! This was one of the times I wished I was a man - I had crossed legs (glad wasn't driving).
Managed to make it home and got my boot stocked up with survival gear, cos you never know. Hope everyone off work has enjoyed it, back to the grindstone tomorrow for me. I know I will make it as my boss drives me in when it's bad weather - why did I have to have him living right behind me - with a 4 x 4!!!0 -
Happy St. Andrew's Day!!
Well another hairy drive in the snow today, got a call from my boss this morning to see if I needed a run in, said no as I was maybe going to mum's after work. So left house at 7.45am, spent 15 mins digging myself out of drive and clearing car, roads were so bad I got to work at 9.25am, usually a 25 minute drive. What made it better though was that my boss who had left as I was clearing my car, didn't get in til 10am, ha! He took a different road and ended up in a worse situation than me.
Got away around 3pm, made it home ok but my drive was knee deep. Parked car, cleared drive, went down into cul-de-sac to turn and promptly got stuck in the snow. Have only just managed to get parked in drive with the help from a friend and a few neighbours who had to push me up the hill. All this happened because I stopped at the garage to get petrol, seen they had those plastic snow shovels and decided to buy one along with a hi viz jacket, an ice scraper (cos I've kind of lost mines this morning - probably in the snow somewhere) and a pair of furry wellies. I ended up paying for the petrol and not taking anything else as when I asked the woman how much the wellies were, she said 'I don't know', in a tone which only could be described as 'with an attitude'. So I told her to forget everything else and I'd pay for the petrol. What an ignoramous of a woman! I was spending over £50 in her shop and she couldn't even tell me she didn't know the price in a civil manner. Plus her shovel was an inflated price, one thing I can't stand is people putting up prices just because they can!
Rant over - gonna have a nice cuppa now and get into my jams.0 -
We got our first bit of snow today! It was only a dusting but I hate snow so was really glad it wasn't more! I'm really impressed you managed to dig yourself out - i wouldn't have been able to do it. Thankfully I get the tube to work!
Hope you had a grand St Andrew's Day!

Morning all, typing this from home as didn't make it to work today. Took a picture of a bench that had over 12 inches of snow on it, it's a blizzard at the moment and I ain't going anywhere. Managed to walk up the a shop and got some bread, milk and a few other provisions. Should be ok for food for a while, it's so cold even with the heating on so just gonna wrap up. OH is out and stuck, had to walk to a job and I'm quite worried. At least he has his kit bag with his insulin etc., in it.
Going to put a wash on as if I start getting bored, I'll end up eating and will have no food left, ha! Stay warm everyone x0 -
I'm bored out my tights!
Have watched loads of tv, put a wash on (can't put another on til current ones dry), house is quite tidy but I suppose I could do something more in house. Or check my finances, or watch more tv, can't quite decide as it's too exciting! Funny thing is, the sun is out and it looks lovely, but more snow expected later so not venturing out.0 -
Ok, so am I am beyond bored now and I have cabin fever! I need to get out the house, but it's too cold and now it's dark and I don't like going out alone......
Watched Marley & Me which I forgot I had bought last week and it was soooo sad! Did anyone notice though, the dog (once it was fully grown) kept changing, in one scene it look quite pudgy and in another quite skinny in the face - suppose that's what they do in these films. Makes me want to get a dog though, maybe once we're married we can get a pup and I'll stay home in weather like this to watch it.
The only other thing I did was put our holiday piccies onto the Tesco website so we can get them printed - eventually. Only went on holiday in June!
Not sure about work tomorrow, but I can't not go in again, gonna end up with no pay in December at this rate, ho hum. Least the snow is off for now.0 -
Hey Swinstie,
Has the weather and conditions improved? Any snow we did have has melted now.
Hope all is okay.

We didn't have much here either, and it all melted yesterday morning thankfully. I don't envy you being stuck in Swinstie - hope everything is OK now.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

OMG, didn't even realise hadn't been on here for a couple of days!
Weather still the same here urg and Essex, can't believe some people have only had a smattering of snow, it's still so deep here. A digger was round on Saturday clearing the roads, had to dig my car out again as he had piled snow behind my car then went up to OH's as he was standby Friday and today. Didn't want him to get snowed in at mines or he'd miss work.
Made it to work on Friday myself, got a run in with boss on Thursday but as he's a manager he didn't leave early - you know, like any normal person in this weather, so I got a run home with another colleague who lives a few miles away from me.
Haven't spent too much money, well not my own! Bought two wavy mirrors from Argos - that was fun, had 3 different sets as the first two were broken before I even left the shop and the second set, one was ok and the other was broken too. Need to get another two but the next two will be from Ikea. I have a plan you see, the table for the wedding dinner is 20ft long, so I am going to put 4 wavy mirrors down the centre as part of the centerpiece. The Argos mirrors are 140cm long and 20cm wide and the Ikea ones are 160cm long and 20cm wide, so perfect size. The Ikea ones were cheaper but hey ho, at least it will look nice.
Also bought 15 glass baubles which I am going to use as favours, seen the idea on another thread, with a word inside. So going to use words relating to love, got them all sorted ready to make up the favours. Trying to get ahead of the game before the VAT increase incase we go majorly over budget.
Well off to watch XFactor now although really can't be bothered with it anymore, don't like any of them. Loved The Jungle last night, glad Stacey won, she was hilarious. Have a nice night all x0 -
So made it to work this morning (in a blizzard), it stayed on for over three hours. Left work at half four, was getting a run home and only just got home at half past eight, nightmare! Was in a 4 x 4 so was quite safe but car is abandoned at work. At least I'm not one of the 25 people actually still stuck at work! Can't be bothered making any dinner so just got some porridge on, need a heat in me!0
