Something like this happened to me....
I was pregnant with twins......I knew I was pregnant but didnt know it was twins.....
I hemmoriged (sp sorry) for two days and was scanned....a heartbeat was dectected and i was sent home to rest........It happened again and I rang the hospital who said that there was nothing they could do and to let nature take its course.... so I did...
I got a letter asking me to attend a 12 scan....and went to my GP to ask why, he said it maybe hasnt got into the system yet and he rang the consultant who told him to send me in, got in an hour later and he said I want to make sure everything cleared away, so i was scanned internally and it showed that i was still pregnant, and there was an empty sac beside the full sac IYSWIM....and I was 13 weeks gone!! I had taken a new job etc....just glad at the interview I had told them about my recent miscarriage and they were fantastic about it (to explain sick leave!)
I know it may not be relevant to your situation, but it may give you a little hope!!

Oh I'm so sorry hon. I've not been through this (my miscarriage at 6 weeks was different, I just bled, them cramped and lost it, scan was after I had actually lost it) but my heart goes out to you.
I know from what I read during mine that bleeding with cramps is a bad sign but it doesn't necessarily mean you have lost your baby, but an empty sac doesn't sound good I'm afraid.
The rate of miscarriages before 12 weeks is about 25 per cent, and they thik that it might even be 70 per cent of all pregnancies, to include those women who didn't know they were PG and thought it was a late, heavy period, so I know it doesn;t help but it is common and not a reflection on you.
I do hope it's good news for you though. Try and rest and relax, I know it's impossible.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I was just talking to my friend who is a midwife. She says that as I haven't bled since they did the scan, that I definitely haven't had a miscarriage yet, as the scan showed that the sac was in situ and the right size for dates. As I was told in the hospital, it is 50-50 that all may be OK.
My sister also just called me and said that a colleague had been in exactly the same situation as me, and that at her scan 2 weeks later, the foetus was seen and the pregnancy progressed normally.
It gives me a wee bit of hope, but at least after speaking to my friend, I know that if I do have a miscarriage, I will know that it is happening. I was sort of wondering if that night of bleeding before the scan was a mis, but it definitely wasn't.
The last 2 days I have just had smears of old blood, and tiny clots (sorry if TMI).
Trying to be positive, but really don't want to get my hopes up.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I think you're being very sensible in not getting your hopes up and whilst it's no doubt terriby difficult then try to not stress about it for the next 2 weeks. If you can't wait 2 weeks you can pay for a private scan before then (if anywhere is open over Christmas
) to see if anything can be seen...
I was scanned at 6 weeks and 12 weeks (they thought it might be twins as I was so extreemly ill I ended up hospitalised at 6 weeks) and I'm pretty sure there was a heartbeat at 6 weeks... (it's a little fuzzy...) if anything it was a blob with a heartbeat... At the time I apparently had ovarian cysts which frankly concerned me more as the ultrasound person came across very dour and I couldn't ask her what that meant
What will be will be - concentrate on taking care of you for the next couple of weeks and don't run around too much...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I started bleeding lightly & (temporary) cramping in my last pregnancy at about 8 weeks which continued for a further 5 weeks. Scans were all fine. Remembering back, my first scan at 8 weeks they had a good picture from the external ultrasound. The next at 9 weeks they had to do an internal ultrasound to get a better picture. No cause was ever found. It's so hard to relax in such a stressful situation though.
Two weeks' wait is awful. I had a threatened (missed) m/c two months prior to my last pregnancy and when I started bleeding that time my doctor phoned the EPU and they booked me in a week later for a routine scan. Over the course of the next day the bleeding got worse so called them first thing in the morning (as advised by the EPU) and they called me in that same day...
Wishing you all the best.0 -
When I had DD back in 2004 I bleed on and off from 8 weeks and all was well. DD was small and still is
Back in Oct sadly I found myself in the same situation as you. The 2 weeks is to allow the baby to grow if there is one and for a heartbeat to be seen just incase as mentioned above you have your dates wrong. With this pregnancy I did not blead but found I I was pregnant before having an operation (luckily they gave me a test as myself and DH were of the opinion we couldnt have any more)
When It was confirmed I had a sac but with no fetal pole or baby they gave me 3 options I could go home and allow myself to naturally misscarry, surgical management or assistant by the hospital
Myself and my DH agreed the best option for us was surgery and they operated a few days later.
A pregnancy test will show as positive for quite a few days after a misscarriage.
I would like to praise the hospital they were fantastic.
If you'd like more details of what happened (I wont bore you all on here) please feel free to message me for a chat. I went for 3 weeks from discovering the empty sac to having my operation.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

Sorry youre going through this. ((hugs))
I would ask if you can have your hcg bloods done, at least twice. this will give the best indicator as to what is happeneing.
2 weeks is too long to have to wait.
I had an early miscarriage before I had my daughter and it was the blood results that saved my sanity, because if you at least know what is happening you can handle it better.
I wouldnt give up hope though if they have seen a sack and a possible hertbeat. Maybe the bleed was implantation.
There is a website called misdiagnosed miscarriages and I read it when I was in limbo and it seems many people bleed and many people dont see a heartbeat even till weeks and weeks on.
Good luck xx50p/£24.00 Xmas 2010:rudolf:
