i've been there. i've had several miscarriages and i also bled all throughout my last pregnancy which went to full term without any other problems. If you are stressing about it i would try and see your midwife or GP and explain that you'ld rather know (not knowing is so stressful) and ask if having an internal scan would give a clearer picture. Thats what i did and all was fine so it stopped me stressing for no reason. It doesn't sound as if you have miscarried. i hope all goes well.
  • Hi hunni I'm sorry to hear your going through this its an awful time. I bleed with my 3rd child it started boxing day when I was 8wks wwhen I was bleeding and I had clots so we went to EPU where scan was inconclusive. I was to return in 2 weeks but I also bleed at 9wks and 10wks also with clots. Some clots were large so I just assumed that was the end and started to prepare for that although to my amazement everything was OK with baby at the 12wk scan. They thought the placenta was a bit low lying which could've accounted for the blood loss. Baby was born despite the scary start to the pregnancy.

I am hoping that the results are good news and I am thinking of you x

    Hey hun,

    I had a missed miscarriage 2 weeks ago at 11 weeks 6 days :(

They said your cervix is closed which is a good sign baby is ok.

I know its easy to say but please try to rest and not worry or stress too much. There's a fantastic forum called babyandbump there so supportive on there and many women on there have had bleeding through there whole pregnancy and early pregnancy and gone on to have healthy babies. Please check the site out if you havent already.

Good luck and thinking of you. xxx

Winnie, you are the first to say you had an inconclusive scan after a bleed and went on to have a healthy baby. That gives me more hope than anything.
I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who have posted. It is a comfort to know I'm not alone. It is a really weird situation not knowing if things are ok.
I'm just wondering if that if they had done a vaginal U/S instead, would it have been clearer? I was expecting them to do just that.
I don't think they would scan me again before the 31st. With the snow we have had, and Christmas coming up, they are probably very busy, and I don't think they would have much sympathy. Getting information about what may happen is would help. I really think in the EPU, they should have a leaflet just setting out possible outcomes. I know they won't want to scare people unnecessarily, but I came away with no info at all. I have had more info from some from websites, but they aren't really telling me what I need to know from 'human' perspective, rather than a text-book answer. What I am getting from this forum is more like what I need. Thank you.
I am still unsure about what to do if I bleed again. Do I rest at home in the hope that maybe there is a viable pregnancy? Or do I just bleed away at home and expect the inevitable? I don't want to 'reat' at home and then look like an eejit in 2 weeks if it turns out there is no baby after all. Does this sound stupid?
All the midwife told me was that if I was bleeding and I 'couldnt handle it', to give them a ring.I sort of got the impression that she was just saying to get on with it without fuss.
I am naturally not a stressed or worrying sort of person. I am being quite calm about it, apart from throwing a complete hissy fit and floods of tears for about an hour the other day!!!!

Just saw your post Mariagti. I am so sorry you went through that. At least I have had some warning early in the pregnancy, but for it to happen to you at that stage would have been awful. My heart goes out to you. Thanks for the info about the other site. I am going to check it out right now.

I've had 3 miscarriages. With my last one, I started bleeding at 12 weeks - very heavily. The following week I got a scan and it turned out that i'd been having twins and i'd lost one. I bled up until I was 6 months pregnant. My son was fine, born at full-term weighing over 9 and a half pounds.
  • Hugs, rosie I'll pray for you and LO.

I bled with both my DDs while pregnant, noone scanned anything, just said wait and see, and both DDs arrived safely.

Hoping all is well for you.

Nothing sounds stupid. You wont look an eejit, because baby or no baby you will need to be scanned.

If you bleed again you rest in the hope that the bleeding will stop again. With the snow and the bank holidays scans are not going to be so easy to arrange, so do what they did years ago, bleeding = rest.

    I am thinking of you.

how are you feeling in yourself?

When I had a miscarriage I was 8 weeks pregnant and I had been feeling exhausted with painful boobs (no sickness which I had from 6 weeks with both of my dds) but one day about a week before I just woke up and I felt normal again with all the symptoms gone.

No one is going to think your an eejit, the hospital I was at was very understanding about it, infact they were great.

I don't know whether I am clutching at straws here, but I am wondering if there was a problem with the scan.
The first scan that I had, they made me drink a litre of water and I was literally bursting for a pee when she scanned me and said she saw a heartbeat. The next day in the EPU, I had to give a urine sample, then had to go to drink water and wait for the scan. I was waiting for no more than 10 minutes and definitely didn't feel as if I had a full bladder when I was scanned. The sonographer who scanned me was dour and not interested in anything. I jokingly said I didn't know if my bladder would be full enough yet, but she just mumbled something like ' Don't know what she's telling me for' and told me to lie down and expose my tummy. I was surprised too, that it was an abdominal scan rather than a trans vaginal scan. Does anyone think that could be why they only saw a sac but nothing else?
