No James you're not. And that's not what was said either. The comment about being horrible referred to the way you put your point across.

Other people have said they would not have opened the presents too, but your posts stand out because of the way you write them. You could easily have made the same points in a less antagonistic way.

Screamer did say "Jamespir, you are a truly horrible person", which was a bit harsh and very personal IMO.

But I can see you were trying to be nice. :)

    Cheers. :D

Don't think that was any worse than...'you must have no life' and you're trying to be the big I am' etc etc (or whatever the exact phrasing was). :rotfl:

Personal is personal. You give it, you should take it without complaint. ;)

I agree with your comments about getting personal.

But for some reason I think calling someone a truly horrible person is much worse. I sort of laughed at the having no life comment, because I think in some ways that describes most people, in a slaving away for what type thinking, or needing to look at the bigger picture iyswim.

Unfortunately, I see what you mean Lunar.

I apologise James for saying you're a truly horrible person! You were horrible in your posts, but that doesn't mean you're a horrible person. I'm sorry!

Stick to your guns Alias. Thank you for sticking up for me. I phrased my thoughts wrong in regards to James that's all.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas, and don't worry about your decision. Whether it be the right one or not, it isn't just this Christmas you were worried about, it was about destroying the spirit of the Christmas's to come too. I think that by making the choice that you have, your daughter might remember what you did but she won't hate you for it. She'll probably think of it when she has her own kids and do EXACTLY the same!

    Good luck and seasons greetings.

And thank you Lunar Eclipse for putting me in my place. I need it sometimes :-)
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

Well that's where our thinking parts company. Telling someone they have no life because they choose to take a particular action, is an insult. It suggests they took that action for poor reasons rather than for carefully thought out ones.

I'm surprised at your comment with regard to this in particular, tbh.

  • What's the odds aliasojo's daughter will understand her Mother's decision and actions and all this could have been avoided?

If said daughter is anything like my 10 year old and even my older girls when they were 10, she'll understand anyway. It's when they become grumpy teenagers that it may become an issue.

okay it wasnt meant as insult its a passsing comment perhaps i could have phrased it "you have nothing better to do "
and as ive said before i dont think you did it for poor reasons you thought you were doing whats best for your daughter

you seem to have some issues regarding your daughter ie not wanting her to see stuff that you yourself would be offended by
which i suppose is fair enough none of us would like to see our 10 year spouting bad language or dressing like a prostitute

but you cant hide those things from her because they can learn it elsewhere evan at 10

And if we are going to talk about being deceitful, what could be more dishonest thatn telling a child a fat man with a red suit and a long white beard is going to bring them some presents?
Or even telling them a Virgin gave birth.;)

I see what you mean and I was referring to how I read it when it was first posted, I would probably change my mind if I read it now due to further posts. I found the humour in the statement first and not the insult. There is no question in my mind that you haven't taken carefully considered action, for what it's worth. Actually, my comment is not based on your actions or opinions at all, merely that I think so many of us do in fact, have no life. You'll either get where I'm coming from or not understand that comment at all. :D

However, since then, this particular poster has explicitly stated that 'you are wrong', which I completely disagree with. Firstly because in situations like this, as with most things, there are no rights or wrongs, just different opinions. And secondly there was so little information available for someone to jump in with such a strong comment.

So sorry for disappointing you; I hope that explains where I was coming from. It was basically an objective opinion based solely on the post, not in reference to you personally or your actions, if that makes sense. I do hope it does. :)
