i have 3 points where heat comes out. (2 bedrooms and lounge) and 3 intakes where air is sucked in the flat ( both bathrooms and kitchen) should i leave all the doors open to better circulate?

    thanks

Do the doors have grilles in them to allow the air that is being sucked out of the rooms with the return air vents in to be replenished?

Have the doors open if you want to have the rooms that are not heated get some heat from the rooms that are.

Try both see which is best for you, doors should be left ajar if there are no vents in the doors to allow for air to be replaced that is being sucked out of the rooms.

  • There are no vents in the door so wil; leave them slightly ajar as you have suggested.

    thanks again
  • Have you had an engineer back out then?

  • not since the first one, am going with him and he's returning on Tuesday to finish the job ( had to get parts). Am off to Vegas tomorrow morning so girlfriend will pop down on Tuesday to let him in.

At the moment i have to take a small oil heater with me in every room i go ( bedroom or lounge as the 2nd bedroom is unused). Saving grace is the flat is so well insulated that it heats up quickly and then retains the heat after.

Well happy xmas clockworks, report back on how you get on with regards to the repairs etc.

You said it was a valve that was sticking, that would be the reversing valve I assume which would explain why it was blowing cold all the time.

Im sure you will have it up and running after his visit.

  • Result!! Spoke to Greg on the phone ( the engineer today) he confirmed it was a sticking valve- most likely caused because the unit was stood still for so long.

Am getting 31 degrees out of the heating vents now!!!!

He is also charging me 1/3 of what he quoted me as he didn't need to replace the valve and also installed an extractor vent in the main bathroom ceiling ( which the developers didn't bother doing for some reason but left in ceiling void).

A great bloke and a good ending to a problem.
  • Well keep his details and pass them on to other tennants who probably have very similar problems.

What temperatures have you managed to get the rooms upto at the moment?

Oh and whats the extractor vent for? Does this vent to the outside?

Will definitely pass them on. I'm still in Vegas so haven't checked myself. There are 3 heating vents , and 3 extraction vents, (1 in each bathroom and kitchen) it basically sucks the air up and recirculates it in the flat-something to do with pressure and even heating the flat if i am not mistaken.
