....Which is why I keep reiterating to people that the heat load calcs need to be done correctly. Too often, they are half guessed or just worked out on the cubic metres of the room/s - doesn't work!...;)
Anyway Rich, you ok?
Yes but it shouldnt be upto the people buying to do these calcs properly its should be the engineers but there are far too many cowboys about who will not size correctly and take worse case scenario into consideration.
Yes im ok... set for xmas when I have done all my wrapping tmrw!!!
Going out for something to eat soon... starving marvin I am!

I really don't want to get into debate that appears to be 'knocking' ASHPs, but as in many situations, they are not 'all things to all men'. They have their strong points and weak points, as do the air to air and air to water variants.
Incidentally it is a perfectly valid argument to state that it isn't necessary to always cater for a 'worse case scenario' for any situation where it is not safety critical.
It may not not worth over-rating an ASHP for example to cope with extreme weather conditions rarely experienced in UK when the heat can be boosted with a £20 3kW fan heater at the cost of a couple of pounds additional running costs.0 -
To have a fan heater is untidy I think when you can pay a little extra for the next system up which will save you money in the long run.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0

...And I totally agree with you...;) But gch and hot water is not all things to all either. Both have thier place under differing circumstances and conditions...:D
@ Richard.
It's the installer that should carry out the heat load calculations. Did I suggest otherwise?....:p;):D
Yep, I'm fine mate. Just off for some eats as well......:DHappiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -

You put that you keep reiterating to people that things should be sized correctly which is something some people have no control over if they go for a quote as they will "believe" what the engineer says.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

That's actually quite a good point. I'll try to elaborate on the subject a bit more tomorrow - I'm too tired now....Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -
And thus end up with an undersized system! If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0

So in short an Air to Air ASHP is the best bet? ( i hope so as that's what i have)
My flat with no heating on tends to hang around 17 degrees. So hopefully once i have my system up and running ( its broken down at the moment) it shouldn't take too long to warm up. So won't bother leaving it on 24/7.0 -
Yep you should be able to pull upto about 21/22C if sized correctly.
The air to air systems are best for the way they deliver the heat.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
Also
i have 3 points where heat comes out. (2 bedrooms and lounge) and 3 intakes where air is sucked in the flat ( both bathrooms and kitchen) should i leave all the doors open to better circulate?
thanks0
