Possible BA Strike
Comments

Hi All,
I'm booked to fly on 30 Dec with BA into Gatwick but don't have travel insurance. Silly me for cutting costs end up paying more!
Can I take out an insurance policy now and still be covered for flight cancellation? Or is it a simple case of -
1. They don't cover cancellations due to industrial action, and/or
2. As I knew about the possibility of industrial action at the time of taking out the policy, any claim for cancellations would be denied.
Any input would be very much appreciated.
Most (but not all) policies will not cover industrial action and even if they did, the policy would need to be in place prior to any knowledge of the BA strike.
So, I'm afraid that it is too late for insurance at this point.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I understand that BA will try to get you on another flight or give you a refund.0

My bf and I are due to fly to orlando from gatwick on 29th for two weeks. Anyone have any idea if this flight is likely to actually be cancelled? I'm a bit unsure of what to do!!! I don't want to cancel my holiday and flights with other companies are almost double what we originally paid!!! Also my sister is actually flying back from orlando to gatwick to arrive the morning we depart!!!
My partner and I booked our tickets through a travel agency but my sister's is throug the ba website.
If anyone has any information that I can't find please let me know!!
As it stands Gatwick Longhaul flights should be unaffected.
At present Gatwick Shorthaul flights are closed for sale pending further information.
Heathrow flights Longhaul/Shorthaul are being examined but presently all closed for further sales between 22Dec-02Jan.
Flights to/from London City airport are unaffected.
Also Codeshare flights which may have a BA flight number but are actually operated by another partner carrier will operate.
There is a rebooking policy in place - details on the ba website
However there will be no refunds issued until a flight is actually cancelled - and as yet that info is still to be determined.
Hope this info helps a little0 -
thanks this is indeed helpful
im really hoping they'll cancel my flight so i can get new dates or a refund (probably the only person actually happy about these strikes)
any idea when they will confirm which flights are cancelled? a day? a week?Be kind to all moneysavers0 -
No idea, but I expect they will need at least 24-48 hours to reschedule everything. It won't be a quick or easy task.February wins: Theatre tickets0

If your travel dates are booked and holding a ticket on a BA mainline flight between 20Dec and 04Jan you can rebook (subject to availability) to another BA mainline flight to/from that destination within 12months now.
Just ctc your travel agent or back to BA if you booked via BA.
As mentioned a refund will only apply if the flight is actually cancelled - can't say yet when that will be purely because I dont know - sorry0 -

Thank you so much, really made me feel a little happier, although I'm sure it's not guaranteed! Ours is long haul from gatwick so fingers crossed we won't be affected!!!Joined Slimming World 19th May 2009

I have already flown half of my journey to visit friends and family in India and my return to the UK was supposed to be on the 28th of December. I booked via lastminute.com, but luckily, the BA office in Delhi has offered to help sort it out (for now, they may get unhelpful when cancelled-flight-customers pile up), rather than making me ring LM.com's customer care number as it's an international call, but only because I have already 'used half my ticket'. They asked me to wait and watch for now.
Not really sure about what else to do? If I have to wait until the 2nd of January to fly, my Annual Leave won't cover it.
Anyone else "stranded abroad"? 0 -
I have managed to get my flights changed so going 2 days earlier and returning 2 days later. Suits me fine so a result. Not so good though for those who cannot change so easily.travelover0

So is Cyprus long haul? We go with BA but return with Easyjet.0
