Possible BA Strike

Passengers travelling on a package holiday should expect their tour operator to rebook them on a different airline, at no additional cost (but it may be impossible to do on a practical level) or offer a full refund. If you have booked a flight on its own with BA, you are at their mercy. As far as this moment is concerned, their are suggestions from cabin crew that many at Gatwick, who are already working on new, lower paid contracts, will not be going on strike and BA is trying to ensure that some, but perhaps not that many, operate from Heathrow. If you re book now with a different airline and the BA flight you booked operates as normal, BA will not offer a refund. Also be careful, most insurance policies will not cover cancelled flights due to industrial action.

It looks like brinkmanship but BA know at Christmas there are very few full fare paying business travellers so they would rather inconvenience passengers who only travel once a year than businessmen travelling every week. I suspect the union thought the airline would back down but the risks are too high, it is losing over £1 million a day and cannot afford not to push ahead with changes to work practices. For those caught up in this nightmare, my deepest sympathies, I booked with BMI, not in the healthiest of places right now, simply because despite compulsory redundancies looming, no one has threatened anything...

I've booked through Dial a Flight (flight and car) does this count as a 'package'
    Thanks for the useful info

I keep seeing things about gatwick staff not striking, does that mean that as my flight is out of gatwick it shouldn't be affected?? I guess there's no guarentee but at least it could be positive!!
So is it only Heathrow based BA flights striking ?

There's 10 of us affected and unless BA refund in full tomorrow we just can't do that.

Right now BA are saying they will try and accommodate all travelers. They have us over a barrel.

I hope someone see's sense quickly.

For those who are affected, the official BA advice is here: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/strike-ballot/public/en_gb?openxzoneid=301&openxcampaign=cabin-crew-strike&openxbanner=strike-announcement&openxtype=click

It seems at the moment they are working out what flights will go ahead and which ones won't. They are allowing people to change to other British Airways flights, at different times. The big thing at the moment seems to be ensure your contact details are correct and up to date.

Regards to emailing the union. I wouldn't waste your time. The union is there to represent its membership. It is very harsh, but sadly true that public opinion will not change the ballot or the strike period. They will know full well what public opinion is and they are doing all this for maximum exposure.
