Wow, that's so weird
Do you fart bubbles?
My suggestion? Turkish Delight, I always though that was a bit soapy tasting.0 -
I find lavender can taste a bit soapy when too heavy handed...what about a batch of lavender cupcakes ith lavender iciing, spilt with some lavender cream in the middle?0

How about seeing your GP instead of your midwife for a change, you might get a different solution. I have great respect for midwives but they aren't infallible.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I would love to find an alternative, something thick and creamy and bubbly :rotfl: but its the smell too
Will ask the midwife when I see her next and see what she says.
Vanilla thick milk shake, frothed up in the blender! Maybe add some ice cream too. Can you increase your iron rich foods, as well? There are also certain foods which aid absorption of iron and others that inhibit it, so being informed of this can help maximise your natural intake.
Please stop eating soap:silenced:0 -
ooo, the Dove craving! I had that with Ds2, but with me it was the smell, not the taste, it didnt taste how it smelt
How about eating more things that are high in iron such as avacados, cereal, etc along with orange juice (for the vit C to help absorb iron)You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
I've never had a child so I may be speaking out of turn and I may well get stoned for this but here goes. Are you crazy? You're seriously eating something that could endanger your unborn child?! You say you already have one disabled child and you don't know what caused it, can you be 100% certain that it wasn't the soap? IMO you're being rather stupid and irresponsible. I hope this child comes out healthy dispite what you choose to put in your mouth. There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0

Chika, i think that was way below the belt.
Children are born disabled for many reasons, and every Mother that bears a disabled child feels guilty every single day that the child is on this earth, trust me, i know!
My child was born with half a heart and died at 4 months old, i didn't drink, smoke, eat cheese, and my cravings were bananas, does that make me resposible for having a disabled child??
Women have all sorts of wierd cravings when they are pregnant, chalk, coal, soap, the smell of tar, and believe me i doubt very much whether the absorbtion of any of the above would cause a child to suddenly become disabled in the womb!
I suggest you get your facts right before you post, and think about the OP's feelings.
Perhaps google Pica, and then post a more informed opinion.0 -
I think the above post was a bit harsh.
I've never had children/never wanted them....and I do find it incredibly difficult - okay-dokey....absolutely mindbogglingly impossible then...as to why on earth someone wouldnt just tell themself "Dont be daft - you cant eat something/anything unless its food and MEANT to be eaten".
Am I missing something here?
I know that - though I have all the standard human emotions/feelings - I do find it incredibly difficult (sometimes totally impossible...like right now for instance...) to understand why on earth anyone would give way to those human emotions/feelings when one seconds thought would indicate its a bad idea to do so.
So - in total - I honestly dont understand at all why anyone would even contemplate eating soap - or anything else either apart from food....
I think it would be a good idea at this point to remind yourself that its just some wierd human feelings/emotions/hormones that are playing around here - but that YOU know much better than that and are not going to "fall prey" to any stupid notions your feelings/emotions/hormones are going to come up with - as YOU know much better than that.....0 -
I don't think my post was harsh in the slightest, i thought it was cruel to remind the OP that she already had a disabled child, and the fact that she is wanting to indulge herself with soap could contribute to another disabled child was uncalled for.
When you have a pregnancy craving, you have to have what you are craving, it is all consuming, and you cannot rest until you have satisfied the craving. It literally takes over your mind, and you cannot think of anything else.
Like i said i craved bananas, the cardiologist for my son, said that i may have been craving the fruit because my son didn't have enough potassium, due to having half a heart, who knows? The body is very clever.
Unless you have experienced pregnancy cravings yourself, it is really hard to understand, or to explain, i guess it is just one of those things, but in pregnancy, perfectly common.0
