This Company doesn't reply to my phone calls, letters or e mails, but was very quick to take my money. I would not use this company again.0

I wish I had found this thread before we purchased 2 (cheap) radiators from JA Bathrooms. They were initially quick to answer the phone and once they had our order (and our payment), it became almost impossible to contact them again. When we first ordered these in mid March, we were advised that delivery would be 2-3 working days. This was acceptable as the installation was booked in for 10 days after the order - plenty of time or so we thought.
Well, one week later and no sign of the delivery - nor could we get any response when we called them - which was many, many times (when the line wasn't answered, the calls would then go through to BTs 1571 service) and the message would say "sorry mailbox is full" and so we couldn't leave any more messages! Our emails asking for confirmation of when we would get delivery were met with either silence or the following responses: either "we will let you know" or "leave it with us".
When we did finally get someone to answer the phone - and this was only achieved by withholding our number - (by this time we were desperate as our very busy plumber was booked in for the Saturday), we were promised delivery by the Friday and was told we would get an email confirmation of this. Guess what? No email - oh and no radiators!!!
Very late in the day before the installation, we were getting desperate and again, spent most of the day trying to call them, and when we finally managed to get through, were told that they had "just heard from their suppliers, that the radiators were out of stock!" aaarrrgghhhh!!!!
Finally, late on the Friday, we had given up trying and we were forced to go elsewhere and purchase alternative radiators (we had a whole schedule of works which would be held up if the plumber couldnt install on that day) and wrote to JA Bathrooms cancelling the order (attaching a read receipt to the email - which WAS READ and ignored). So I telephoned them again late Friday pm (& amazingly got through) and they had the nerve then to tell us at that point that miraculously the radiators would be arriving early the next day. Of course, we couldnt believe them and as we had now purchased alternatives and given our experience with them so far, demanded a full refund. I was told to put it in writing (which I had already done). And you've guessed it, radio silence once more.
Thank goodness for Visa - we got them to give us a refund (which finally came through approximately a month later).
Yes, JA Bathrooms prices are probably the cheapest around but frankly, the pain of trying to get what you have purchased just wasn't worth any perceived saving. I guess the morale of the story is, if it appears to be too good to be true, it often is.
Don't part with your money to this firm. I've yet to see a good review of them, their products and their level of service is utterly appalling and communication, non-existent. I trust this thread will serve to warn others not to use them0 -
We have been looking forward to having a new bathroom for such a long time now and to obtain the best deal, we have used JA Bathrooms to supply ALL the bathroom equipment which was paid for by credit card 3 months ago, with a delivery date of 26th June.....no delivery 5 phone calls on Saturday 3 of which were answered. A new delivery date of Tuesday was agreed. This has now been postponed until Wednesday with a further delivery on Friday (completion date from our fitters). What should I do now?:(0

If you paid by credit card then you have protection for items that are over £100 so you can cancel. To be honest it depends on your situation and how understanding the fitters will be if the bits don't arrive. Can you afford to pay a second time for the items and then wait and hope for a refund?0

Since they obviously care more about their web presence than their customer service I say lets help this rise up to the top of Google.
I made the mistake of contacting them through ebay as they had a product I wanted but paired with other items. They told me to call and arrange it so I did.
I asked if I'd get it for the weekend (I ordered Wednesday 9th June) and was told they'd try! It is now 3 weeks later and loads of delivery dates, excuses and unreturned calls later - still no item. Payment was taken straight away.
Fortunately the firm I work for has a division of debt collection agents so I asked a colleague to do a quick dig around for me after Matt at JA bathrooms refused to give me the name of the boss. (hiding what I wonder?)
For anyone who needs to arrange collections of any kind the name of the boss is Joseph Charles Garnham. He's 65 in October so maybe he's planning for retirement.
As well as JA Bathrooms they also 'trade' as chiquebathrooms and eurowood products ltd.
I'm hoping they read these reviews regularly as I expect a call tomorrow. I'm good at writing reviews and can write them all day if needs must. JA bathrooms is listed on lots of sites that invite reviews.0 -
I didn't realise the connection with www.chiquebathrooms.co.uk but I did have a laugh when I read the T&Cs. All about how they can deliver whenever and that they guarantee the products to be free from deect when they leave them. So does that mean it is tough if the goods are damaged in transit? Absolutely nothing about statutory rights to refund or DSR either.0

I ordered a bath from them which was ordered on the 25th November. Much to our surprise it arrived on the 31st November with no warning. Fortunately we were in, however the waste which is speciic to the bath was missing. The driver told us it would be coming direct rom the manuacturer as they had forgotten to include it.
As their prices are so good on the 2nd December I ordered by phone lots of other bathroom bits including a shower door and various taps. When I ordered I checked when delivery would be and was told the week beginning the 7th December. I told them it was important as I needed the bits as the builders were already working.
By the 8th I hadn't heard anything and I didn't want them just arriving on my doorstep again as I couldn't be sure someone would be in and I didn't want the builders signing for it all without checking it. I was then told it would be arriving the week beginning the 14th. Obviously I told them it wasn't on and that I needed it as originally agreed. I was put on hold for 10 minutes and then spoke to someone else who said it would arrive on the 9th or 10th. When I asked which as I needed to know to be there he said he'd call me back. The call never came.
Late on the 9th I called and emailed again. Everytime you call it either just rings or you get answer phone so I left and sent a message saying if I didn't have confirmation by 10am the next morning that it would be coming on that day then I would cancel the order. I got an email reply saying that I already had some of the order (I didn't) and that the rest would be arriving shortly. I pointed out that I hadn't had any of that order and I wanted to know when it would be arriving. By 10am I had heard nothing so called (left message) and emailed to cancel the order.
Whilst sitting in City Plumbing I got a call from the OH to say the van had arrived with most of the bathroom stuff. The bath waste was still not there and they had also failed to deliver some taps and the shower door. He was told the bath waste would arrive the next day and the taps and door would be next week. He moaned to the driver about the lack of communication which must have been relayed back to the store. Within 15 minutes he'd had a call from Dan who told him the taps are out of stock until January (thanks for letting us know earlier!) and the shower door would be with us Tuesday 15th. OH told them we would buy the shower door else where and we wanted to cancel it. Dan told us it was special order so we couldn't cancel. At no point had I been told it was special order (it's and of the shelf product not made to measure) and I never receieved a copy of my order (despite requesting one).
I bought the missing items from City Plumbing who were brilliant. They cost a few £ more but the service was fantastic. However J A Bathrooms keep insist I have to have the shower door. I have emailed, phoned and sent recorded delivery a letter of cancellation quoting Distance Selling regulations and they emailed back to say as I'm local DSR doesn't apply .:rotfl:They say they are delivering the door Tuesday but obviously I won't be taking delivery. On the positive the bath waste arrived on the the next day. So the saga will continue. Hopeully they will see sense and refund within 30 days but I hope this goes as a warning to others.
It arrived on the 31st November with no warning!?
I'm not surprised!:j0 -

Having taken 4 months to get a refund through my credit card company for the price of a complete bathroom from J A Bathrooms I have decided it is far less hassle to ask my plumber to buy elsewhere on my behalf and fit all. If there is a problem he will deal with it.
J A Bathrooms took no notice of my decision to cancel an order under the Distance Selling Protection rules and I was left with a credit card debt and no bathroom for 4 months. All my e mails and letters (sent recorded delivery) as well as phone calls (after I had paid in full) were ignored by the team.
I had several reasons for cancelling the order one being that they had massively undercharged me and despite the fact that I told them about this I received no response. Also I could not get any clear response concerning delivery of my order. Rather than wait for further problems to occur I decided to cancel within the 7 days allowed under the Distance Selling Regulations (2000). Despite doing this before the payment on my card had been taken, the company continued to take the the full amount including delivery
charges from my account and then failed to reply to all my attempts to contact them.
Thank goodness my credit card company were able to deal with it for me and eventually refunded the full amount. However there was a lot of hassle and frustration involved for me. I will pay more in future and save myself the anguish.0 -
Hi all. Just thought I'd share with you how I finally got my refund. Every time I rang the lad on the phone refused to put me through to Joseph. Occasionally I would get a message left by a girl called Parice/Paris who asked me to call her back which when I did I got told they can't transfer calls to her!!!
Anyway, I had the day off to look after the kids so I set my day aside to be a pain. I kept calling and said I wouldn't go until Jo came to the phone. At one point he told the lad to put the phone down on me so I withheld my number and called back. I said I would wait on the line until the refund was done. Basically, as my calls are free all day (god bless sky) I just kept calling and made it plain that I would hog their sales line all day until I got a refund.
So they did.
Absolutely shoddy way to run a business though. Wasted so much of my time and the wife still hasn't got a shower door fitted!0
