I will add the experience of one of my older neighbours.

He ordered a product which JAB was said to be in stock with delivery within a few days. It took many, many weeks to arrive and (like others) he found no replies to messages, emails and generally a very poor attitude. The person answering the phone always had a smartar*e answer/excuse. The snow, staff sick, rushed off their feet with unexpected high levels of orders, etc.

I wish he had researched first as it caused him huge amounts of stress and needing to get the trademen back and go through a second batch of work and tidying up the resultant mess.

J A Bathrooms are very good on price and dreadful on everything else. I ordered almost a month ahead and was guaranteed a delivery date. However once I’d ordered, and paid, things went dramatically downhill. Delivery dates were not met, phones were mostly not answered, when occasionally they were answered promises to call-back were broken, emails were ignored. A nightmare. Once they had the money it seemed they didn’t care. Avoid.

after placing our order ,money gone and when i finished crying we went to a good supplier ,please do not touch this company with a ten foot barge pole they will take your money and leave you with nothing ,trading standards don't seem to be able to do anything or don't want to .PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR HARD EARNT MONEY .

I can only echo the complaints on this forum in the hope that Google searches will warn other people. Having ordered a complete bathroom and agreed a delivery date I arranged for my plumber and electrician to turn up on the day. Shortly before that I received an email from J A Bathrooms telling me that the shower tray was unavailable, so I made alternative arrangements and asked for a refund for that item. The boss immediately phoned back querying why I was cancelling part of my order, and it turned out the email was for someone else, though by then it was too late. The rest of the delivery (less another item) turned up 2 days after the agreed date. Two months and much chasing later I am still waiting for my refund and have had to send a registered letter threatening court action. Delivery service is crap, administration is crap, you cannot get through to them and they don't respond to voicemails and emails. Avoid them like the plague.

Have any of you contacted Trading Standards in Southend on Sea. You may find it worth your while.
Credit card company will help you where you have paid by credit card, even though it takes time.

I'm taking up your suggestion of contacting Trading Standards at Southend and have sent them the link to this forum.
The credit card company said that as I cancelled part of the order prior to delivery (but after the !!!!!!!s had taken my money) they could not get involved as it constituted a 'change of mind'.
Does anyone have experience of the Small Claims Court procedure?

I would definitely check with Trading Standards or Consumer Protection Agency (same as TS but set up to deal with enquirires like this) because if you read my original post you will see this is what happened to us and the CC co refunded us. I don't think they did it out of kindness because they wouldn't refund for a faulty item under the £100 limit.

DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! Order (for £1,000) place at the end of April 2011, delivery promised for 16 - 18th May, but guess what it never arrived. Phone messages left and e-mails sent with no replies, did speak to some one (JA non-internet sales office), said they would get someone to come back, but weeeeeks later still waiting. Spoke to Trading Standards, who have filed a complaint and pased it on to Southend office. But heard nothing more. As these goods were purchased with a non-UK Credit Card, I'm not sure if repayment can be claimed as with UK card?
Maybe a protest outside the store, may get some response from JA Bathrooms!!! Or get a TV programme interested in a company with such bad customer services.

• We ordered £900.00 worth of bathrooms bits over the phone actually with the owner Joe Grarnham, told delivery would be about a week! They NEVER return calls or emails!! We have made over 40! I have asked Visa if they can recover my money as I still have not received anything from them I cancelled my order verbally and have sent a recorded delivery letter (get a template from direct giv online) Joe the owner has even put the phone down on my husband!! I really wish there was some other way of warning people to stay away from this company as it will just bring you misery! Apparantly there is another number 01702 333568 could try that as well and beware they trade under 2 other company names as well on being Eurowood but not sure of the other?
We are considering actually going to the show room next week if still no joy! Good luck to everyone else in trouble because of J A Bathrooms!
• I haven't used JA bathrooms but it sounds so simillar to the 4bathrooms outfit that I had the misfortune to deal with, they were in the west midlands and have now gone bust. No idea how applicable it will be in this instance but the way I got resolution was by actually driving to the location and picking up the missing parts. Good luck to you all and I hope consumer power wins.
• Just to say I am so glad that I decided to do a search on jabathrooms and found this site. I was on the point of paying them £2000 for a Roca handbasin/toilet combination unit which elsewhere is £2500. So tempting isn't it - something for nothing...

Something about their willingness to make up a price on the spot made me want to check. Reading some of the tales of woe on this site, I suddenly remembered that free lunches often come with a hidden cost, so I've decided to heed the warnings and go to a reputable supplier. Perhaps if I were near enough to go in and actually see the goods and take them away with me it would be something I would be happy to do - not by phone and email though.

THANK YOU to those who posted their horror stories here for others to learn from. I suspect you have saved me much frustration and possibly money - so I guess this site does what it says on the can, eh!

Please be warned. This company are disgraceful. Once they have your money they treat you with contempt. They have no interest in customer service or any respect for consumer law.

I am still in an ongoing five month long battle to get back over one thousand pounds. Trying to go through my credit card company, but still unsure of the outcome. As with all their other victims I’ve experienced awful service, broken promises, phones slammed down on me and unfulfilled delivery dates. Then weeks after I cancelled the goods due to non-delivery/breach of contract/distance selling regulations the goods are dumped on my front lawn on a massive pallet with no notice. Needless to say I had already obtained replacement products from a reputable local supplier by then.

Please take note they are simple con-merchants. Save yourselves months of worry and inconvenience and go elsewhere. I suggest everybody reports them to trading standards as I have done.
