I guess it's also worth referring to them as JA Bathrooms so this post can hopefully come higher up in google in order to warn people before submitting an order with this crew. It'd also be nice if JA themselves could come on and defend themselves - i think their silence both to customers (fingers in ears!) and on here speaks volumes. They also seem to remove any negative comments they find off things like google..
  • J A Bathrooms are very good on price and dreadful on everything else. I ordered almost a month ahead and was guaranteed a delivery date. However once I’d ordered, and paid, things went dramatically downhill. Delivery dates were not met, phones were mostly not answered, when occasionally they were answered promises to call-back were broken, emails were ignored. A nightmare. Once they had the money it seemed they didn’t care. Avoid.

don't egg also have some sort of cover for damaged items? surely you could go through egg for the damage to the bath?
Well we has a result Ideal Standard fixed the bath FOCso pleased with Ideal Standard.

JA Bathrooms however have in my opinion been useless. Egg gave us the refund on the items not recieved but JA Bathrooms wanted to deal with us direct. Egg gave them more than one chance and have eventually agreed that they will take JA Bathrooms to court.:j I'm really pleased because it appears to me that JA Bathrooms think they are beyond the law. A few more people need to take the stand we have. Don't give JA Bathrooms weeks to come up with the goods. If they don't meant the promised deadline cancel as per your rights under Distance Selling Regulations and make a claim to your credit card. It emphasises the need to pay by credit card when buying online. I have to say Egg have been fantastic. They have given JABathrooms every chance to sort the situation themselves which is fair enough, but after numerous promises they are going to refund us. Obviously if you don't have the luxury of having the money to effectively buy the item twice (or the item is under £100) then my way of working won't work for you.

At this point I wanted to say a BIG thank you to MSE for giving me the knowledge and the confidence to the tackle appalling service from this company.

I don't know how I didn't find the negative reviews before I ordered, but then I foolishly thought because they are a fairly local company I could trust them.:o

Yes looking now I see they have removed a negative review from Ciao and also on a local site they have hidden all their reviews.
  • JA Bathrooms should be avoided at all costs.

They are cheap (but note other online bathroom retailers will generally price match) but their customer service is absolutely rubbish.

I purchased a bath well in advance, based on an explicitly agreed delivery date. No bath, no communication, phones not answered, outright lies when I did eventually get someone to answer the phone. The staff are trained not to give out the name or number of the owner ('Jo').

I can't say it strongly enough - avoid.

JA Bathrooms have just called. They are threatening to sue me because they say thay are not in liquidation and they have read my previous post which I have now deleted. It's good to know they have read everyone elses complaints.

Now on the update for our shower head. I called JA to report that after less than 2 months of use it is faulty and they told me to contact the manuacturer. What a joke they clearly don't know or don't want to comply with the sale of goods act.

Another credit card claim coming on.

Why are you worried? What dealings have you had with JA Bathrooms?
  • Just seen this thread while doing something else in respect of this company.

I have nothing else to add other than the fact that I work for a company whose products are advertised on their website at hugely discounted prices. They have no account with us, we will not supply them, and if we trace down any of our trade customers who is, we will immediately close that individuals account. We have written to JA, spoken to Trading Standards and now to our solicitor to try to prevent the unauthorised use of our name, brand and images but so far to no effect. We are not alone in this, and if you look at the heading for Crosswater you will see what I suspect is the outcome of another manufacturers efforts in the same respect.

We have had calls from dissatisfied JA customers trying to get us to resolve problems similar to those described above. Where we have looked into it, we have found that the products that had been supplied were not in fact ours, so we were unable to help.

The choice to deal with outfits such as this is yours and yours alone, but the old adage regarding all that glitters applies in spades in this instance.

Apologies that I cannot name names, but I am not authorised to represent my employer publically.

that is interesting - some of the products we finally received from ja bathrooms had indeed come via intermediary companies.. perhaps that is how they are fulfilling orders for products they are not allowed to sell?
  • The main issue that you might want to consider is that if JA are purchasing products through a third party intermediary you will not have any manufacturers warranty. In essence the products will effectively be 2nd hand in that context. If something goes wrong your only recourse will be through JA, and frankly I would not be holding my breath on the outcome of that :(

Again nothing to do with me, but the tale of the non returnable shower door is symptomatic of precisely that situation. They may well have bought the thing via A.N. Other, and therefore cannot return it, (well not without them incurring the whole loss that is, and as they operate on stupidly small margins they cannot afford to do that so they will fob you off instead).

    Just a thought.
